70’s Icon and Ex-Runaways lead singer Cherie Currie has released a brand new video today for “Rock & Roll Oblivion” HERE.  The track is from her critically acclaimed Blvds of Splendor album release via Blackheart Records HERE . For this special, one-of-a-kind “At Home”performance, Cherie (vocals) enlisted special quests Lanny Cordola (co-writer & guitar), Perry Farrell guitarist Nick Maybury,  Grant Fitzpatrick (bass), Greg Holt, Josh Zuckerman & Alyson Montez (strings)and John Tempesta on drums with 17 year old Runaways fan (Isaac Valiente) editing the video. 

“”Rock & Roll Oblivion” is one of my favorite songs on Blvds of Splendor. After making my first video “Roxy Roller” with Suzi Quatro and Nick Gilder, I thought a song with just my vocal would be easier so I could focus on the musicians and violinists I needed to make it worthwhile.   I reached out on Facebook and asked for violinists/fiddle players that wanted to be a part of my new quarantine video and was amazed at the talent. I picked my amazing three and we started to build the song. It was a flook to be able to have some of the the original musicians from the album, Nick Maybury and Grant Fitzpatrick and songwriter Lanny Cordola (who had just come in from Pakistan) come onboard as well.  The final key was editor Isaac Valiente (who had blown me away with his talented editing on Roxy Roller) stepping up to add his magic. He brings such awe to this video.  I can’t thank all these talented musicians for their precious time. They are fantastic, uplifting human beings at a time when we really need the positivity.  They will never know how much they all mean to me and how grateful I am for them all.” States Cherie.

The album, Blvds of Splendor features guest collaborations with Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins, Slash and Duff from Guns N’ Roses, as well as Juliette Lewis, Brody Dalle, The Veronicas and drummer Matt Sorum. The special digital only release features three bonus tracks (including a remake of The Runaways classic “Queens of Noise” featuring Brody Dalle, The Veronicas, Juliette Lewis and Matt Sorum paying homage to late Runaways drummer Sandy West).   Blvds of Splendor garnered Cherie the best reviews of her career including a Top 10 Albums of 2020 nod from Classic Rock Magazine stating "Exploding out of the traps with the all-Gunners-blazing Mr X, Blvds clearly means business and compounds the muscular groove with Roxy Roller (where You Drive Me Wild riffing meets Suzi Q dynamics).  Cherie Currie's new album Blvds of Splendor, produced by Matt Sorum (Guns N' Roses, Velvet Revolver) is out now and features the classic “Roxy Roller.”

"With life in lockdown and the surprise release of Blvds of Splendor, the first song that came to mind for a quarantine video was "Roxy Roller."  My son Jake and I sat down in front of a camera and singing to an acoustic electric we filmed the building block of the song.  I am so lucky and blessed to have amazing musicians as friends to reach out to and all were more than giving of their time for this. I then reached out to my dear friend Suzi Quatro, then Nick Gilder who again were so giving of their time. The cherry on top was meeting Isaac Valiente on FB. He's a 17 year old self taught video editor who stole my heart with his love for music and a giant ball of humble talent. And there you have it. A great video born of love and support in a time where that’s really all that matters."

"Was asked by my good friend Cherie to be part of this. After her wonderful contribution to my documentary SUZI Q (premiering in July  in the USA), and even writing a song about me, which was the closing song of the film...... well...excuse me... did I have a choice!!  70’s Icon and Ex-Runaways singer Cherie Currie has confirmed a release date for her latest solo project which features a bevy of rocks finest on the new album, Blvds of Splendor. The album is set to be released digitally on April  28, 2018 via Blackheart Records  Pre-Order Link and features guest collaborations with Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins, Slash and Duff from Guns N’ Roses, as well as Juliette Lewis, Brody Dalle, The Veronicas and ex-Guns N’ Roses, Velvet Revolver drummer Matt Sorum, who also produced the set.  “Cherie’s voice tells it all, she is the real deal. And now more than ever that voice tells the story of where’s she’s been in her life. This record is about who Cherie Currie is now. We’ve waited a long time to hear this icon of Rock N’ Roll do what she does best. I’m very proud to be a part of this album by one of the best female singers of all time.” said Matt.

Blvds of Splendor has been a labor of love as Cherie & Matt originally began work on it back in 2010 when Cherie was promoting The Runaways movie (currently streaming on Netflix) which stars Dakota Fanning as Cherie and Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett.  The tracks languished in the vaults for years while Cherie went back to work on her chainsaw carvings (see here: CNN) and did other studio work for 2015’s Reverie release, which features some of the last works of legendary Runaways manager/producer Kim Fowley.

In 2016, Cherie was set to release Blvds of Splendor when she had a near death accident while chainsaw carving falling over 12 feet to the ground off of a hilltop scaffolding.  The accident left Cherie with partial facial paralysis and severe head trauma for over 10 months.   After her recovery, she met and went in the studio with Fanny drummer & vocalist Brie Darling and in 2019 they released their critically acclaimed The Motivator album via Blue Elan Records.  Cherie is back to chainsaw carving again and is ready to finally release  Blvds of Splendor. “I’ve never had so much fun making a record before. We all looked at each other and went, ‘Oh my God, there’s magic happening here” Cherie said.

Blvds of Splendor was released on 180 Gram Translucent Red Vinyl for Record Store Day in 2019 with a limited run of 3000 copies.  This will be the first time the album is available worldwide digitally for the fans.
