Mulholland Drive

Last night I had the extreme pleasure of attending a screening of Mulholland Drive up on the roof top of The Montalban Theater in the heart of Hollywood. Thanks to Lynn Tejada from Green Galactic.

This is my second go at the movie space this summer the first was Sunset Blvd. How's that for irony two movies about Hollywood that are very much alike and I go see them both in the heart of the city they are about.

I love The Montalban! It's a perfect setting to view a movie during these wonderful summer nights.

While I am really not sure what to say about America's 242nd Birthday I do know that the above image of one Stephen Colbert perfectly sums up my Current Mood.

I'm not going to spill on my true thoughts and feelings about the state of our union because my Mama always said "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." Yeah, I know that has never really stopped me, but I would like today to be positive and productive. 

How am I celebrating? Well last night I went to a Rooftop Screening of the Billy Wilder classic Sunset Blvd. @ The Montalban Theater in Hollywood. With my friends Brittney & Naama.

We had a total blast and "yes" we could see fireworks going on in the surrounding area from the roof with a view.

Thus I leave you with a photo of the three of us, oh and don't forget to boogie in the butt, it's the fourth of July after all!

A Message From E.G. Daily

In the middle of one wild & crazy day yesterday, fielding what seemed like my millionth call, what to my wandering ears did I hear? But the familiar beep of a text message coming in...well it was from none other than my friend E.G. asking me this:

"Hi Sweety ! I wanted to see if you could do a little FYI to your peeps about my gig coming up at the Whisky July 22 I will be headlining w Missing Persons for a fun 80's night!"

Done and I am so in! You should be too E.G. slayed when she performed there last in November and I expect she will again since Ms. Thang is a natural born entertainer.

Also there is the bonus of an 80's theme that brings Missing Persons along for the ride.

Forget penciling it in, use a pen, how about sending a text to yourself about it. Whatever you do you won't want to miss this date! Hope to see you there!

E.G. Daily @ The Whisky A Go Go

This Needs No Explanation

Last night friend and awesome performer E.G. Daily took to the stage for a one night only (but we all hope she does more) special show at the legendary Whisky A Go Go. On the famed stretch of road where she started it all the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles, CA. 

E.G. rocked da house! It was great to see her back where she belongs on stage performing music! The audience licked it up as she served up helpings of her 80's hits Say It, Say It and a rock arrangement of Mind Over Matter. Covered Donna Summer's Sunset People and sang one of my personal faves Here It Goes Again plus many more! Also Tommy Pickles made a surprise appearance.

The Successful Clinic Series Lands At The Key Club

In Los Angeles On April 12

 Three of the leading gear/technology companies for both musicians and consumers alike partners with one the top retailers in the United States for another memorable music event. Samson, Hartke and Zoom have teamed up with Best Buy again for the third installment of Samson’s successful “Metal Masters” series. Metal Masters 3 will take place on April 12 at the famed Key Club on the legendary Sunset Strip in Hollywood, CA. Doors for Metal Masters 3 will open at 7:00PM with the clinic starting at 8:00PM. Metal Masters 3 is comprised of David Ellefson (Megadeth), Kerry King (Slayer), Charlie Benante (Anthrax), Frank Bello (Anthrax), Mike Portnoy (Adrenaline Mob/Flying Colors) and newly added master Dave Lombardo (Slayer).

If the buzz that is still circulating from Metal Masters 2 is any indicator, Metal Masters 3 will not disappoint anyone who is lucky enough to see it. Metal Masters 2, which took place at the Best Buy Theater in New York City, featured the Metal Masters demonstrating their personal techniques and styles they use to create the music that millions bang their heads to every day. Metal Masters 2 featured surprise performances of Phil Anselmo (Pantera/Down) and Scott Ian (Anthrax) joining the Masters for some memorable performances including the still talked about Pantera classics “A New Level” and “Hostile.” If that wasn’t enough, Metal Masters 2 was capped off by a full performance by New York metal icons Anthrax days before their performance at the historical Big 4 show at Yankee Stadium. Metal Masters 3 will outdo the legendary Metal Masters 2 and this time return to the west coast where some of the most famous metal bands started.

“We’re extremely excited to be bringing the Metal Masters series back to the West Coast where it originated.” says Mark Menghi, Samson’s Director of Marketing. “And with the artists we have participating and the surprises we have planned, Metal Masters 3 is going to be the best one yet.”

Tickets are available for $20 (first come, first served) at the Key Club’s box office, located at 9039 Sunset Boulevard, or via www.keyclub.com. With door giveaways and surprise guests, all should purchase their tickets early for this All Ages event to witness the return of the Metal Masters.
