Miley Cyrus Weekend Wrap Up

Pharrell: No Twerking Allowed Miley
For those of you who follow her, Miley Cyrus never slows down and continues to make entertainment news week after week.

This week I pulled out my two favorite Miley tidbits - since yeah I am a fan...

Let's start with the coolest bit first and then give the runner-up it's due. The coolest? Her video for the song she collaborated on with Happy hit maker Pharrell Williams Come Get It Bae a fun, tasteful video and song that really does make you want to get up and dance!

So glad she toned it down, her talent as a vocalist and performer really come on strong in this.

Yay! Pharrell Williams, for utilizing her abilities quite astutely.

Miley & Floyd: Puppy Love
On a lovely note she also hired a psychic to contact her beloved dog who died Floyd. This item is from the heart and really shows you what a sweet young woman Ms. Cyrus truly is....

Hey Miley, I hope you make contact with Floyd, I honestly mean it.

Featuring Tim Bogert (Vanilla Fudge, Cactus - on bass), Don Airey (Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Michael Schenker - on keyboards), and Vinnie Appice (Dio, Black Sabbath - on drums)

Hollywood Monsters are the brainchild of vocalist, guitarist, composer, Stephane Honde, a French expatriate, who after living in Los Angeles since 2012, recently moved to Sacramento, California) Honde first became noticed when fronting Mamooth, subsequently garnering a well-deserved reputation as a guitar virtuoso when playing in Cafe Bertrand, a French rock group he joined in 2004. The band toured, playing humongous stadiums such as the Stade de France, with an audience capacity in excess of 80.000 - performing with classic rock giants such as AC/DC and Deep Purple, the latter for whom they opened on thirty-six dates across Europe in November 2006, and another 12 in March of 2007.

Honde recorded two albums with Cafe Bertrand - both critically acclaimed and commercially successful - "Les Airs Empruntes" (2005) and "L'Art Delicat du Rock'N'Roll" (2008), before leaving the band in 2011. Honde then embarked on a length tour with Paul Di'Anno, oriignal voaclist with Iron Maiden before absconding to California. Once in Los Angeles Stephane Honde befriended Tim Bogert, coaxed him out of retirment and convinced Bogert to play on his debut album...and voila, the Hollywood Monsters were born.

Stephane Honde recently signed an agreement with Mausoleum Records for the release of the debut album entitled "Big Trouble" by his new band: Hollywood Monsters. The talented Hollywood Monsters line-up on "Big Trouble," besides Tim Bogert (Vanilla Fudge, Cactus) - on bass, additionally welcomes the performances of some more of Stephane's talented pals, including: Don Airey (Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Michael Schenker and dozens more - on keyboards), and Vinnie Appice (Dio, Black Sabbath - on drums), the latter for whom Stephane had written the song "Village Of The Damned" as an hommage...before ever meeting Vinnie!

Fifty Shades Of Grey - Trailer

OK, here comes something I feel obligated to post as it is all the Internet rage right now the first official trailer for the movie based on the wildly popular E.L. James domination epic Fifty Shades of Grey.

Hey sex sells and this will increase traffic to my blog so here goes my two cents worth on it, OK it's more like fifty cents worth.

First of all my only familiarity with the novel is it's own notoriety, I have not read it, nor could I pick out author E.L. James in a line up.

That being stated, I found the trailer interesting, although the dialogue is rather stilted, but I am a big proponent of supporting films that explore sexuality in an interesting, adult, erotic and sexy manner.

Having just made that statement that is territory best left to independent filmmakers, the last time any Hollywood studio made good films regarding sexuality in an adult and frank manner was, a quite golden age of cinema to me, the 1970's.

Also an interesting fact, when I heard the unique version of Beyonce's Crazy In Love adding ambiance to the trailer I assumed Universal paid someone to cover it so they would not have to pay through the nose to license it. Only to find out not only did they license the song, they paid Queen B to re-record the vocals in a lusty manner herself.

Uh, Wow! That's a big vote of confidence, they are really marketing this film like a summer blockbuster sure to add some sort of something extra to your Valentine's Day 2015.

Universal did smartly choose two little know TV actors Dakota Johnson from Ben and Kate as submissive Anastasia Steele and Jamie Dornan from Once Upon A Time as dominant Christian Grey. Therefore they come into the movie with no baggage of an already preconceived notion of who they are to the world at large.

Rumor has it that Universal has an R and NC-17 version of the film they are going to release. The trailer does intrigue me enough to rate it an "I'm curious to see it" on my need to see meter.

But should I actually make the effort to go remains to be seen and if I do, it will be the NC-17 version all the way!

Called Out! Rachel McAdams Is A Class Act

Keeping It Real: Rachel McAdams

Although they have had wildly different careers - Rachel McAdams proves what I have always suspected about her, she is a class act.

When the subject of her Mean Girls co-star, Lindsay Lohan came up in a recent chat she spills that she was in fact "in awe" of her.

Ms. McAdams told Allure Magazine  for their August issue that she was impressed by Lohan's natural ability. "I looked at her as this experienced actor, and she had great comedic timing, so natural. It's just funny to hear that because you never know what people are thinking. We all try to act like we've got it together."

As far as her own career? McAdams is looking forward to a roller coaster ride. "I'm hoping it's going to be complicated and have lots of dead ends and corners and sharp turns. I hope it can't be summed up too easily when I'm done."

Love it! Thanks Rachel when asked about working with someone you kept it real and didn't dish. You also let everyone know that nobody's ride is smooth in the world of show biz no matter what public perception is...Signed, A Fan For Life!

Le Jazz Hot: James Garner

James Garner
I know James Garner was known as Bret Maverick on the hit TV show Maverick long before he was known as Jim Rockford on the even bigger hit, The Rockford Files, but that is the show I know him from as a youngster.

Yes, James Garner was the epitome of cool, classy, handsome and sexy, he also made acting look downright effortless, which means he was great at it!

I can see why my Mom had a crush on this guy , he was a man's man who could also charm the pants off of any woman.

Among the many things he did other than The Rockford Files, the other personal stand out for me, although there are many great performances from this guys, guy - was his turn as King Marchand in Victor/Victoria.

James Garner & Julie Andrews: Victor/Victoria
James was simply the best as the sexually confused gangster in this wonderful commentary on what makes a man or a woman in society. It is one of the late great Director Blake Edwards best!

The story stars Julie Andrews alongside Garner as: A woman, pretending to be a man, pretending to be a woman...say that three times fast.

He was always a class act and kept it real among all of the Hollywood glitz & BS.

R.I.P. Mr. James Garner and thanks for a lot of amazing memories.

Dolly Parton, There's Gold In Those Hills

The Hills Are Alive With The Sound Of Dolly

Dolly Parton Strikes Gold With Blue Smoke – The Best Of

Parton Earns Precious Metal with 'Better Day'

Dolly just keeps getting better with age and proves there is still plenty of gold in those hills...!

Dolly Parton earns, yet, another sales award as her 42nd studio album, Blue SmokeThe Best Of, has been certified Gold by the BPI and remains #3 on the official UK chart in its sixth week of release.

“Dolly could not be any happier,” says Dolly’s manager Danny Nozell, CEO CTK Management.  “She has worked very hard over the past several years to create the momentum that we have going.  Everyone at Dolly Records and Sony Music has done an outstanding job with making Dolly’s new music available and the sales prove it.”

Blue Smoke – The Best Of, includes her latest studio album Blue Smoke featuring "Home", "Blue Smoke" and new duet with long- time collaborator and friend Kenny Rogers and even a Bon Jovi cover!  Alongside her greatest hits on disc 2 featuring the classics such as "Jolene", "9 to 5", "Islands in the Stream", "Little Sparrow", "Here You Come Again" and "I Will Always Love You" plus many more.

“Blue Smoke – The Best Of is officially Gold in the UK, which is a massive achievement for Dolly Parton and the team,” says Faye Donaldson, Sr. Marketing Manager/Sony Music.  “The response to Dolly after her Glastonbury performance has been amazing and having new music available at the same time has created a reaction that I've never seen before.  It’s been just perfect.”

It's A "Mad Men" Party

Sing Along With: Mad Men
With the end of the final season of Mad Men drawing near and fan anticipation growing of how the series will end, did you ever wonder how the cast celebrated the taping of the final episode of the Emmy Award winning drama?

Drink excessively? Chain smoke until dawn? Smoke pot and have a Bacchanalian orgy? You know the way they do on the show.

Christina Hendricks recently gave Vulture the 411:

“We partied for about a week straight,” Hendricks spilled. “We’re all surprisingly into musicals,” she explained “There was a lot of singing of "Little Shop of Horrors," ‘Defying Gravity’ (from Wicked), and a little bit of "Frozen.” The secret is out now, the cast of Mad Men are musical geeks “I wish we were cooler.”

Thanks Christina for that bit of fun information, what a great way to move on from a great show, that although I am dying to know how it all ends, I will be sad to see it, the cast and Jon Hamm's bulge go.
