What Happens At Fashion Week...

The Selfie Game
Courtney Love & Kim Kardashian-West
Unlike Vegas, what happens at Fashion Week never stays there, I am guessing due to the lack of open desert in which to dig holes. How else does one explain the most off the wall never in a million years did you think this would happen selfie of Courtney Love and Kim Kardashian-West ?!

From what could possibly be a sign that The Rapture is coming, or the Silicone Fairy has paid a visit, Kimmy KW  nabbed Courtney L and snapped both of them.

Needles to say the image ended up on Instagram, that Kim she sure is a giver.

Hey it's Monday so why not kick your week off by turning and facing the strange? That way the rest of your week will be tame by comparison.

Have a bombastic day!

Whitney and the Holograms?

I'm Your Hologram Tonight
Whitney Houston
Yep, it's true! Whitney Houston will be giving Jem and the Holograms a run for their money in 2016.

Get ready folks, Whitney's hologram will be touring. Personally I find this concept weird. I mean they will have to take footage from already recorded Houston performances and recordings to put this apparition together, correct?

Well don't all of you die hard WH fans own all of that paraphernalia already?

Yeah, I really don't get the lure of paying what is likely to be primo dinero to watch ghosts of the past culled from material of the real deal that is already out there, nothing spontaneous or interesting about that now is there?!

Or maybe there is, but this type of thing is not for this guy.

Food for thought, have the happiest of Sundays and remember...

"You've given me ecstasy, you are my fantasy
I'm your baby tonight"...

Kate Winslet Is An Apple Head

Apple Head
Kate Winslet
One of my favorite actresses in this life or any other I  may be reincarnated in, is the amazing Kate Winslet!

I first saw her in Peter Jackson's amazing film Heavenly Creatures and well you know, all I could think of is: Will you Kiss Me Kate?

Since we are turning to face the change of summer into fall, the mighty Winslet will be back in a movie based on the life of Steve Jobs, called oddly enough: Steve Jobs, go figure...

Who will she be portraying? Why Apple's first head of marketing, Joanna Hoffman, that's who.

As a side note, or perhaps a full frontal in your face note, Michael Fassbender will play Apple founder and head Steve Jobs, naturally.

Head Jobs, now there is an interesting combo.

Steve Jobs hits theaters on October 9th!

Are You There Mars? It's Me Matt Damon

Will Matt Damon Be Your Favorite Martian?
Fall is just around the corner and it is shaping up to be hotter than the scorching summer we have had only this time the heat will be hitting your local movie theater.

Hunks and beauties galore will be gracing us with their presence in the cinema with highly anticipated projects of prestige that scream: Gimme, gimme an Oscar after midnight - to other works of art merely saying, hey, look at me I'm not Sandra Dee.

Always interesting and mostly top notch Director, Ridley Scott brings us The Martian with hunky monkey Matt Damon. I am so in for this one!

Matty plays an astronaut who is presumed dead after an unexpected storm (um, does anyone ever expect storms?) hits on his mission to Mars. Well THAT blows, quite literally.

What is a stranded astronaut who is not really dead to do? Ridley Scott has been hitting high notes of late after some brief downtime, I believe this one is going to be so treble!

The Martian opens October 2nd.

Feel The Loni Love!

LONI LOVE RETURNS FOR SEASON 2 OF “THE REAL” SEPTEMBER 14
“BEING LONI LOVE” DOCUMENTARY TO AIR ON CENTRIC SEPTEMBER 26
LONI TAPPED TO HOST ELLEN’S NEW GAMESHOW “HEAD’S UP”

Fall is in the air and it feels like Love, Loni Love that is. She will be keeping it fun and above all, real!

Comedienne, actress, tv host and author, Loni Love is in demand and loving it as she gets set to return as co-host for season 2 of her hit daytime talker “The Real” beginning September 14.  The nationally syndicated show which airs on Fox stations (with a rebroadcast in primetime on cable network BET) was touted by the New York Post as “fun, funny, involved in life, outrageous by nature, warm and, most of all, real.” Along with her talk show duties, Loni will host the upcoming Ellen DeGeneres produced Heads Up game show. Based on the popular app where contestants have to give clues to another player so they can guess which subject is ‘on their head’, the show will debut on the HLN network in January, 2016.

In the ten plus years since she began doing comedy full time, Loni has found her niche on The Real (“It's like a younger, intoxicated version of The View” said Jezebel), as well as regular appearances spinning tunes as the house DJ on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.  Loni also currently co-hosts the Café Mocha radio show cafemocharadio.com with rapper MC Lyte.  They’ve interviewed President Obama and the First Lady as well as superstars like John Legend, Toni Braxton among many others.  Café Mocha is the only nationally syndicated show of its kind that was created exclusively BY and FOR women of color.  You can catch the nationally syndicated show on over 40 stations across the country including SiriusXM Channel 141.   Additionally, Loni has been a correspondent for Entertainment Tonight and E!  Along with her work on television, Loni just wrapped production on director Garry Marshall’s next film Mother’s Day and can be seen in several movies, including the successful Paul Blart Mall Cop 2 opposite Kevin James, Soul Plane with Kevin Hart and the Bad Ass franchise with Danny Glover and Danny Trejo.

Later this month, Loni will be the subject of the documentary “Being Loni Love.  “Being Loni Love” traces Loni’s life story from her early days as a latchkey daughter growing up in Detroit’s Brewster-Douglas housing projects to national stand up comedienne, tv and movie star. “ I was honored when the “Being” producers wanted to hear my story. I want to share my life story to inspire all women that they can become and achieve whatever they want.”  Says Loni.

“Being Loni Love” is set to begin airing September 26 on the Centric channel.

You can also catch Loni out on the road this fall with her stand-up comedy show.

Hey, Do You Need A Dodge?

Where's The Dodge?

I Need A Dodge: Joe Strummer On The Run

Coming to the US on October 16th

"Poignant doc... A snapshot of a man - not a rock star -
looking for catharsis in the most unlikely of places."NME

Here is the tale of the "Little Strummer  Boy" come they told me I need a Dodge!

Produced and Directed by Nick Hall, this is the story of Joe Strummer's self-imposed exile in Granada in 1985/6. It will be released on DVD by MVD on October 16th and comes packaged with a cassette of a Spanish radio interview with Strummer, a postcard, sticker, and pin.

"This is Joe Strummer at a crossroads in his professional and personal life. Initially his trips to Spain seemed to be little more than an anecdote but this story says so much about Joe coming to terms with life after The Clash," said Hall.

Johnny Green, The Clash's legendary road manager said of the film, "I glowed - I felt uplifted. Once again, it was as if I had spent a little time with my dear lost friend, Joe Strummer. I was hooked all through - the story is compulsive. More to the point, you have perfectly captured the brooding melancholia, that shy underside, which was a compelling component of Ol' Joe. I Need A Dodge is fabulous." The film also received a special mention at the In-Edit Festival in Barcelona.

Heading to Spain in 1985 to flee the disaster that was the implosion of The Clash version two, the band formed in the wake of Strummer firing Mick Jones and after Topper Headon left the band. The new line-up's Cut The Crap album had largely been shunned by both critics and the public alike and Strummer needed space. Telling a Diario De Granada interviewer that he had come "to feel the pain of the wound," upon arrival in Granada,Strummer found himself firmly subsumed into the city's musical and cultural fabric. He was welcomed with open arms by local acts 091 and bigger-fish Radio Fortuna, who all met up at the Silbar.

"When we met Joe it was like a miraculous apparition," said Jose Ignacio Lapido, 091's guitarist. It was Radio Fortuna who facilitated the purchase of a set of wheels for Strummer. Tracking down a Barreiros, essentially a European edition of the Dodge-Dart, became a mission. As Santiago Auseron, the Radio Fortuna singer said, "It looked cool, it just looked a bit mad. Which at that time suited Joe very well."

Strummer was delighted with the huge car which he thrashed around the streets of Granada and Madrid. However, having parked the car in the capital when he flew back to the UK for the birth of his daughter Lola, he forgot where it was and never saw it again. I Need A Dodge! Joe Strummer On The Run is partly the story of the search for the car, and partly the story of Strummer's own search for meaning and redemption in those wilderness years.

Strummer  launched an unsuccessful attempt to find the car, making an appeal for information on Spain's Radio 3 in 1997. With witnesses disagreeing on the colour and style of the car - agreeing only that it was registered in Oviendo - and some claiming never to have seen it, filmmaker Nick Hall's quest seems unlikely to succeed, yet his investigation does unearth the truth about this period of Strummer's life that has largely been ignored.

Installing himself in the producer's chair for the recording of 091's album, Strummer's micro-management led, rather than to the boost these star-struck musicians were hoping for, to a growing sense of disquiet and wasted studio time. The album eventually surfaced, having finished off to the record label's specification rather than the band's, and was disappointing.

The Dodge is an emblem for Strummer's time in Spain, his ambition, personal style and, in a way, the nature of those troubled days in general. When he is pulled over by the police, it is revealed that he doesn't even have a license to drive. Drawing on the recollections of his friends in London and in Spain, his partner Gaby Holford, and the members of 091 and Radio Fortuna, this a revealing story of a search for much more than just a car.

"It was an escape. He was a man on the run. He was getting away from the tension in London," says Santiago Auseron.

Joe Strummer did, indeed, need a Dodge.

The DVD package can be pre-ordered directly through MVD here, or on Amazon here.
