It's Mean Girls Day!!!

"Mean Girls' came out in 2004. Mean Girls Day is on October 3rd because in movie, Lindsay Lohan's character Cady Heron recalls a scene where her crush, Aaron Samuels, asks her what day it is and she responds, “It's October 3rd.”

"Yes" Minions this is the origin of Mean Girls Day in case you didn't know, well now you do.

On a personal note, I guess there really is no other when it's my blog and I'm saying something about myself. Mean Girls is one of my favorite movies evuh! I have seen it South of ten times it's so fetch!

Also it's a reason to get excited for October 3rd, there I said it.

Hey, even though it isn't Wednesday it's OK to celebrate your inner Mean Girl and wear pink. Surrender it even if you like...

"Boo, You Whore!"

The Kindred

"Deep flesh tones and heavy primaries look spectacular."

     —Matt Paprocki, Doblu

Academy Award®-winning screen legends Rod Steiger (In the Heat of the Night; Duck, You Sucker) and Kim Hunter (A Streetcar Named Desire; Planet of the Apes) star in The Kindred, a chilling tale of a genetic experiment gone wrong... very wrong! Kim Hunter is Dr. Amanda Hollins, a molecular scientist who calls on her son John (David Allen Brooks) to eliminate all evidence of her genetic experiments... most specifically her "Anthony Journals." Dr. Philip Lloyd (Steiger), an acquaintance of Hollins who is familiar with her experiments, wants to continue her studies no matter the cost! John heads to his isolated childhood home with a group of friends to uncover his mother's research and destroy it all. There's something else in the house, however... something watching and waiting... a tentacled creature born from the desire to alter human evolution. It's evil. It's mad. It's ready to kill! One of the best "creature features" of the 1980s, utilizing all practical special effects, The Kindred also stars Amanda Pays (TV's The Flash, Leviathan) and Talia Balsam (TV's Mad Men, Homeland).

Hello October...

Alfred Hitchcock's
Psycho

I love the Fall and I especially love October as it is Spooky Season all month long! "Yes" this is truly the most wonderful time of the year (if you know, you know.)

Thus welcome October 1st, that makes it a mere 30 days until Halloween...Boo!!!

I am commemorating the first day of October 2022 with a montage of images from one of my favorite horror classics of all time Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho.

This is a film I watch every year to celebrate the macabre and never tire of, I've definitely seen it South of twenty times.

What's that you ask? No I'm not going to get into why I will leave that up to more capable hands. The Minions behind Wikipedia, naturally...

Gird your loins and let's have some scary fun this month!!!

Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things

"Weird"

—Leonard Maltin, Leonard Maltin's Movie & Video Guide

The SET-UP: Five young kinky actors and their artistic director come to a desolate and nearly forgotten burial island, complete with a morbid history of MURDER, RAPE, CURSES and DEMONS. Alan (Alan Ormsby), the brilliant but bizarre Director of the company, has brought them to this foreboding place to dabble in witchcraft; specifically to dig up a fresh corpse and use it in a ritual ceremony which is supposed to raise the dead from their graves. The PAY-OFF: It seems as though Alan has really gathered his "children" here, only to play a practical joke on them and then to party the rest of the night away. However, the joke's on Alan. His bizarre ritual ceremony really does raise the dead from their graves...only they're in no mood to party! NOTE: "BENJAMIN" CLARK is really "BOB" CLARK, the creative director behind the hit films PORKY'S, BLACK CHRISTMAS and A CHRISTMAS STORY among others. ALAN ORMSBY, though he turned in what has been described as "...one of the most obnoxious screen performances in history!", has actually made a mark for himself as the screenwriter for such memorable films as MY BODYGUARD, CAT PEOPLE, KARATE KID 3 and PORKY'S 2.

Michael's Musings

Hocus Pocus My Ass
Michael Shinafelt

So Hocus Pocus 2 drops tomorrow, the sequel to Hocus Pocus a movie that people have been pretending is actually good for 29 years.

As Madonna would say "Express Yourself, don't Repress Yourself" therefore bear witness to me expressing myself without repression of my true feelings about Hocus Pocus. Did I strike a nerve? I hope so!

I'd say there's a special place in Hell for Lisa Rinna, but Purgatory is worse (also she'd most likely thrive in Hell) Thus there is special place for her there!!!

A whacky way out world of witches sounds perfectly groovy right here, right now

Hump Day & Chill

9 1/2 Weeks
Kim Basinger

For a few reasons Kima Basinger has been on my mind of late. Remember her? She was a HUGE star in the eighties and nineties. She had beauty and talent. Trust moi she was more than just a pretty face and has an Oscar for her portrayal of Lynn Bracken in LA Confidential to prove it.

Thus we are gonna Hump Day & Chill to Ms. Basinger, because it's my blog and I'll do what I want to, so there!

I follow Kim on Instagram and she recently liked a comment of mine regarding her work with Jeff Bridges in a terrific little film called The Door In The Floor (bear witness to it, I posted it here.)

Guessing you could say I am a fan. It got me thinking about seeing 9 1/2 Weeks which at the time was notorious because it dared to portray a masochistic love story. She was riveting as Elizabeth opposite Mickey Rourke's John.

Kim took risks. She was never demure in her choices. She is the poster person for "Go Big Or Go Home" - I miss her presence in films.

Fun Fact: She's the only reason I attempted to watch Fifty Shades Darker. If she had been the main attraction I could have actually endured it.

So let's give a Hump Day & Chill toast to Kim, shall we? You'd better believe it!

It's Niecy Time

Stellar!
Niecy Nash

I am three episodes deep into Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story and I can state with 100% certainty that Niecy Nash is going to take home the Emmy for her amazing portrayal of Jeffrey Dahmer's neighbor Glenda Cleveland.

Many of the superlatives used in the reviews of her work on the show contain the word "terrific" and that word perfectly describes her work in it.

The first real exposure I had to Niecy was on Ryan Murphy's Scream Queens. She was one of the bright spots in what was otherwise a meh show. Then there was Claws where she literally chewed the scenery as rising Queenpin Desna Simms.

Her accomplished body of work speaks for itself, quite loudly I might add.

Come next Emmy Awards it's gonna be: Niecy Time!!!
