Crimes of Fashion

WTF?!
Kirstin Maldonado & Mitch Grassi
OK, as you all know I like the acapella group super group Pentatonix. Also some of you may know I was there from the start before they became worldwide superstars. "Yes" I covered them and know them and have the photos on this blog to prove it.

I will be the first to admit that even though their casual sense of style needed a little oomph in the beginning it was who they were and quite charming. Well that all changed after they signed with RCA a stylist stepped in and has been doing them no favors ever since.

Bear witness to the featured pic. Who in the F#ck told Mitch to sport the look of a 70's porn star, complete with a porn stache accessory?

Oh Kirstie, while I know you have eclectic fashion taste Morticia Addams called and she wants her look back.

Seriously you know I love you guys but it's time for a little push back on whoever is advising you on what to wear.

Trust. That is all Michael has left the building.

TBT: 1 + 1 + 1 = Trio

We Three Queens
Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris & Linda Ronstadt
You can't keep a good threesome down

Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt, and Emmylou Harris have premiered a new lyric video for an unreleased alternate version of “Wildflowers.” The Parton-penned track, which was originally released on their 1987 collaboration Trio, is featured on the upcoming three-CD set THE COMPLETE TRIO COLLECTION. The video can be viewed here and the track is also available now at digital retailers.

Parton, Ronstadt, and Harris have three careers unparalleled in music history. Together they have sold over 200 million albums worldwide and performed for decades in front of countless fans around the globe. It’s no surprise that when their three voices united to release their debut collaboration, the results were remarkable. The threesome released two albums together, Trio (1987) and Trio II(1999), which have combined to sell more than five million copies worldwide and win three Grammy® Awards.

Both of these classic albums have been newly remastered for a three-CD collection packed with rare and unreleased music. Produced by Harris, THE COMPLETE TRIO COLLECTION will be available on September 9 for a list price of $29.98.

On the same date, a single-disc set will also be available entitled MY DEAR COMPANION: SELECTIONS FROM THE TRIO COLLECTION, featuring a mix of songs taken from the three-disc set, as will FARTHER ALONG, a double-LP set of all the bonus material from THE COMPLETE TRIO COLLECTION. Trio II will also be released on vinyl for the first time.

Even though Parton, Ronstadt, and Harris began recording together in the 1970s, a full album proved elusive. When the stars aligned and the friends were finally able to record a full album, a powerhouse sound of country and Americana was born. The results were remarkable. Trio arrived in 1987; sold more than four million copies; won two Grammy Awards; and topped the country album chart for five consecutive weeks. Among the standout tracks are “To Know Him Is to Love Him,” “Wildflowers,” and “Farther Along.”

It would be more than a decade before the group released a follow-up, but when Trio II arrived in 1999 it did not disappoint. The album won a Grammy Award and peaked in the Top Five of the country album chart. It sold more than one million copies worldwide on the strength of tracks like “Do I Ever Cross Your Mind?” the Carter family’s “Lover’s Return” and a cover of Neil Young’s “After The Gold Rush.”

The bonus disc is loaded with 20 songs, including alternate takes of album tracks like “I’ve Had Enough,” “Making Plans” and “My Dear Companion.” Also featured are 11 completely unreleased recordings from the trio spanning both album sessions including “Waltz Across Texas Tonight,” “Pleasant As May,” “Are You Tired of Me,” and the gospel standard “Softly And Tenderly.” Among the unreleased material is also an alternate version of “Do I Ever Cross Your Mind?” featuring Parton on lead vocals and a stunning acapella version of “Calling All My Children Home.”

I guess the first Pitch Perfect was a hit, well that's cool because Entertain Me favorites, Pentatonix aka PTX are now in the sequel! Alright all you PTX fans raise your lighters in the dark! Oh and it's called Pitch Perfect 2, the best surprise is no surprise.
Pentatonix, in case you have been living under a rock are the five-person ensemble that rose to fame after winning the third season of NBC’s The Sing-Off, will play a rival group to the Barden Bellas, the collegiate acappella singers at the center of the sequel, hitting theaters in 2015
Tell me more, tell me more, like do you have a falsetto? “We’re wearing some pretty interesting things,” teases PTX's Scott Hoying. “You can definitely tell it’s the five of us, but what we’re wearing and who we’re portraying is definitely not Pentatonix.”
Pitch Perfect 2 finds the original BellasAnna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow, and others—returning for another year at Barden University, where they’re ushering a new crew of members into the national-winning group. Expect the five members of Pentatonix to offer threatening competition to the Bellas’ well-oiled machine.

Pentatonix Gets Down !

PTX: We're Here To Get Down
Photo: Esther Kaplan
We all know the PTX gang as an amazing acapella cover group. However up until now, have only done an official video for one original song "Run To You" a moving piece of music that I LOVED when I saw them in concert in March.

Time to catch the "Boogie Fever" as Pentatonix has done what I would call a song, dance floor and dance re-mix ready, get down!

"Love Again" does what the best dance anthems do, it features beats that make you want to shake your booty and it is accessible to any DJ to remix and make you want to shout on the dance floor, give it up!!!

Give it a listen and try to stay sitting in front of your computer the whole time, I guarantee you will get up and get down in Funky Town.

In Case Your Wondering, Pentatonix Is Going As Lorde This Halloween

Trick or Treat? Obviously a Treat!

That's right everyone the worlds favorite acapella group PTX is delivering a Halloween treat this year by pulling off the trick of covering  singer Lorde's debut #1 Billboard smash "Royals" which took down Miley Cyrus's "Wrecking Ball' from the throne of #1.

As usual the PTX gang knocks it out of the park with their amazing arrangement and vocals.

Since this is the month of Halloween and I know you would all rather have treats than tricks, or you may think those two are one in the same, but whatever your take you owe yourself to celebrate by giving your ears the treat of Pentatonix covering "Royals" by Lorde, way better than any rock you may get going door to door...!

Boo!

Being Justin Timberlake: Kevin "K-O" Olusola

Kevin "K-O" Olusola
Just when you thought you had been there and done all that with the amazing acapella group Pentatonix, along comes resident Cello aficionado Kevin "K-O" Olusola to take the talent of the group to a whole new level.

Kevin let's loose his inner Justin Timberlake with a cover of "Mirrors" that is vocal free...That's right it's Kevin and his cello cranking it out for your entertainment.

Just how much more talent can the PTX'ers mine Together? Solo? Remains to be seen, but judging from "K-O's" cover and video the well of possibilities is endless.....!

Pentatonix On Tour...Now!

Photo: Andrew Ryan Shepherd
Hey, did you know the best acapella group in the world,  Pentatonix is on tour?!

Well they are and their first stop on the 2013 trail was The Henry Fonda Theatre in Hollywood, CA, and I of course as someone who covers them and more importantly as a fan was there thanks to their publicist and all around awesome guy, Ken Phillips.

My friend and fellow PTX fan Danny Bozarth was my plus 1 for the evening. Since the kick off at "The Fonda" Pentatonix has been playing to sold out crowds. Translation: if they are playing in a city near you and you want to see them live, get your tickets and get them now...!

Is there anything more that I can say about this amazing group that has't been said already? If there is, I'll save it for another time and let this exclusive live footage, shot by Danny, from the show speak for itself...PTX rules!

Hurry and get your tix to see PTX Live at: http://ptxofficial.com/tour
