"If you've ever wondered why the population's going down, Blame it on the plunder from the likes of the killer klowns" - Killer Klowns From Outer Space

Happy Halloween Minions! I spied one of the Killer Klowns From Outer Space this week on Hollywood Blvd. in Nivessa Vinyl Records. Hump Day & Chill

Teri Garr
in
Young Frankenstein

One of the actresses I loved as a kid (and still love) was Teri Garr. It was always a treat when Garr appeared on the screen. She was beautiful, talented, and she usually made me laugh. I have so many fond memories of her in movies like "Tootsie", "Close Encounters of the Third Kind", "The Black Stallion", "Oh, God!", "The Conversation", "One From the Heart", and of course, we celebrate her with an image from the classic "Young Frankenstein" Tis the season. She was stricken with multiple sclerosis for the past couple decades. Teri Garr will be missed.

"We The People"

Multi-platinum recording artist and former Men at Work front-man Colin Hay has released his new single, "We The People," on Compass Records. Co-written with rapper Derrick "Solpowa" Rice, the new song serves as an anthem and call to action, encouraging citizens to exercise their right to vote and make their voices heard. With its stirring combination of Hay’s soulful vocals and Rice’s impactful rap verses, the track resonates as a timely reminder of the power vested in each citizen.

Hay speaks to the process behind the song and the serendipitous collaboration with Derrick "Solpowa" Rice: "When I wrote the music and verse/chorus lyrics of ‘We The People,’ I imagined someone rhyming on it, but I wasn’t sure who that could be," he shares. "Then I heard Derrick ‘Sol’ Rice rap on one of my wife Cecilia Noël’s tracks, and I loved his words and sound. So he dropped in to the studio and wrote and recorded his rhymes in the B sections of ‘We The People’ in an hour or so. Fantastic work."

The song is paired with a compelling music video featuring Hay and Solpowa, which visually captures the spirit of the track. Both artists deliver impassioned performances against a backdrop of evocative imagery, adding another layer of depth to the song’s message.

Watch the official video for "We The People" here.

A founding member and the unmistakable voice of the iconic Australian band Men at Work, Colin Hay has made his mark on music history with hits like "Down Under" and "Overkill." His distinctive voice, songwriting craft, and stage charisma have not only fueled a successful solo career but also earned him a loyal fan base across generations. Now, with "We The People," Hay adds a vital message to his body of work, calling on listeners to reflect on their civic duty and consider the importance of participating in a democratic society.

"We The People" is available on all major streaming and download platforms now.

The Night HE Came Home

Michael Shinafelt

TGIF! Only six more days until the night HE came home..."Yes" Halloween, duh!

To celebrate the impending high holy day here I am in one of my favorite T-Shirts paying tribute to my my favorite horror movie of all time 1978's Halloween starring Jamie Lee Curtis.

Why is it my favorite? It was the first R rated horror movie I saw in a theater and it had the most impact on me of any of the ones I've ever seen since.

I mean who didn't see Michael Myers creepy white mask somewhere lurking in the dark somewhere after viewing this classic.

So here we are Halloween 2024, are you ready?

Trick or Treat!

A Simple Plan

SOMETIMES GOOD PEOPLE DO EVIL THINGS.

Working from an Academy Award-nominated screenplay by Scott B. Smith (adapting his own bestselling novel), director Sam Raimi swapped his trademark hyperkinetic horror for stark, bone-chilling tension in the expertly-crafted, critically-acclaimed thriller A Simple Plan.

Hank Mitchell (Bill Paxton) and his wife Sarah (Bridget Fonda) have big dreams and a baby on the way, but are stuck in the small Minnesota town where Hank grew up alongside his sweet but naive brother Jacob (Billy Bob Thornton, Oscar-nominated for Best Supporting Actor). One day while walking in the woods, Hank, Jacob, and Jacob's friend Lou (Brent Briscoe) discover a small plane buried in the snow, with a dead pilot inside... and a duffel bag containing over $4 million in cash. It's a once-in-a-lifetime chance to grasp the American dream in one fell swoop, if they can just keep it a secret - but Hank soon learns that keeping that secret will come at a terrible cost.

A bleak, heart-stopping morality play with allusions to Macbeth and The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (Raimi's favorite film), A Simple Plan returns in a brand new director-approved 4K remaster accompanied by new and exclusive bonus features.

"No Escape From What You Are"

Sudden Death Records is proud to present No Escape From What You Are on October 25th available on black, cherry red, smash and splatter vinyl, as well as CD and digital formats.

Last winter the D.O.A. guys came up with an album concept... "Hey why don't we get a bunch of our punk rock pals to record D.O.A. songs?" So Canada's Godfather of Punk Joey Shithead Keithley contacted a bunch of his old friends and his favorite bands.

As you can see from this sterling lineup, their reaction to covering D.O.A. material was great.

D.O.A. known as the Godfathers of Hardcore and more specifically Shithead himself invented that term, have influenced bands and fans alike since 1978, having played over 4,500 shows in 50 different countries on 5 different continents.

For a lot of the musicians involved here, D.O.A. was one of the first two or 3 punk bands they ever saw in their lives. So what you have here are incredible versions 15 great songs that Joey and friends wrote and D.O.A. recorded and performed during the past 47 years.

There's No Escape From What You Are!

The Undead

BTS
Winona Ryder & Francis Ford Coppola
Bram Stoker's Dracula

While neither Francis Ford Coppola or Winona Ryder are undead they did collaborate on a film about the King of the Undead Bram Stoker's Dracula in 1992.

This BTS image of the famed director and his leading lady is put here for your countdown to Halloween enjoyment, it speaks volumes too of their fondness for each other.

You remember how everyone thought that Coppola was miffed when Ryder pulled out of the Godfather Part III? Yeah, bullsh!t at it's finest, obviously.

Hey gotta keep the gossip mill running as they do in Hollywood.

Dark Lady v White Witch

Dark Lady v White Witch
Cher & Stevie Nicks

So here we have a Cher and Stevie Nicks meme made for Halloween Month. They are in two of their fame grabbing personas The Dark Lady & The White Witch (I'm sure you can guess which one is witch.)

Time to choose your warrior Minions! Which witch is your stan?

Honestly I wished they had something less black and white, so to speak. Personally I think they need to find a more balanced betwixt the two.

I'm guessing that makes me the Dark Witch or the White Lady?

Ugh! Just no! I'm going to do my own thing and create my own category.

Tim to go ride my disco stick! TGIF!

Michael's Musings

Fear is like a clown's make-up,
It can hide the true face of evil
Michael Shinafelt

With all the buzz surrounding Terrifier 3 I thought it was high time that I saw Terrifier. "Yes" back where this lunacy began.

Here's my quick take the gore is what it is, over the top which translates to hilarious! The reason for the horror series success rests squarely on the shoulders David Howard Thornton who plays Art The Clown. Art is a one of a kind, unique horror creation. Without him and Thornton's expert skills in portraying him these little indies would be nothing. Boo!

Happy Satan impregnates his bride season!
