Remember Wendy O. Williams and the Plasmatics? I sure do!!!
The rare Wendy O. Williams / Plasmatics live footage in this DVD has, in the main, never been released before.
During the early years Plasmatics creator Rod Swenson, who directed and shot all the Wendy O. / Plasmatics conceptual videos (AKA known for his footage of the Ramones, Dead Boys, Blondie, and Motorhead among others) shot numerous Plasmatics shows the footage from which was never edited or released. Except for some short excerpts most of it until the discovery of this footage was thought to be lost or degraded (shot on tape which has been shown as with audio tape to degrade over time).
Recently during the moving of WOW / Plasmatics archive material the footage here was found unlabeled in buried boxes. While much had degraded producer / director Randy Shooter was able to discover, relabel, and with additional editing and restoration, salvage the rare and remarkable footage in this DVD. A lot of it is raw (and much of the audio is the audio from ambient video deck mics, noise and all) but the energy and power is there straight through.
The material includes two tracks from CBGBs the first of which was among the first Plasmatics shows ever as well as other footage from benchmark shows. A bonus track (Monkey Suit) features footage shot by Swenson when he was shooting the iconic album cover for "New Hope for the Wretched," but never released.
I love, love & love Adele's voice, she is such an amazing vocalist! She is also as it turns out pretty gangsta too... Recently producer Tony Visconti remarked about our lady Adele: "You turn the radio on and it's fluff, you are listening to 90 percent computerized voices. We know Adele has a great voice but it's even questionable if that is actually her voice or how much has been manipulated. We don't know." Ummmmmm...dude, you are 72 and have been producing how many years and you can't tell her voice is 100% real?! Note to self, if I ever work on something involving music, don't hire Tony Visconti to produce. Adele responded with a rebel yell: "Some d--khead...tried to say that my voice wasn't me on record," she told the crowd. "Dude, suck my d--k." There you have it. Happy Monday! Tonight at 10pm MTV is premiering it's TV series based on the movie Scream. Well the producers decided the Ghostface need some renovating and gave his mask a scary new face lift. There is even a back story to the killers new look. Personally I love horror and the movie Scream and will watch the premiere episode out of curiosity to see what they brewed up, whether I tune in past that remains to be seen. As the old adage goes: Curiosity Killed the Cat... Let MTV make you Scream at: http://www.mtv.com/shows/scream/
Do you believe in fairies? If so clap your hands, Reese Witherspoon is set to produce and star in Tink. Tink will be a live action story based on the temperamental character Tinker Bell from Peter Pan. Much like Angelina Jolie in Maleficent,Tink is supposed to give viewers insight into "the story you don't know," and will offer a new perspective on our favorite Disney fairy. Reese will be an awesome Tinker Bell! But please Reese, don't wear boots. Reese on IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000702/?ref_=fn_nm_nm_1
Network to Develop Slate of Two-Hour Movies With Legendary Country Icon as Producer
Like, who out there does not love Dolly Parton?! Given this news perhaps a live broadcast of the musical "Hello Dolly" should be on the fast track!
NBC has signed a development deal with Dolly Parton, one of the most honored female country musicians of all time and an American icon.
"I am so excited to be involved with my friend Bob Greenblatt, who produced the Broadway version of '9 to 5: The Musical' with me, and my longtime friend and former agent Sam Haskell. We want to create projects for NBC that are both fun and inspirational with a family audience in mind," said Dolly Parton.
In conjunction with production partner Sam Haskell of Magnolia Hill Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television, NBC will develop a slate of two-hour TV movies based on the songs, stories, and inspiring life of Dolly Parton. This extraordinarily prolific country music artist and movie star will produce these projects that are meant to appeal to an inclusive family audience.
"I don't know anyone in the world who doesn't love Dolly Parton, and the idea of developing television movies inspired by her incredible life and the stories she has sung about for decades is exciting to all of us at NBC," said Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment." I hope we will create some uplifting movies that the entire family can enjoy together, a genre of programming that still seems largely untapped on television."
Added Jennifer Salke, President, NBC Entertainment: "We all feel so lucky to be in business with Dolly. We're so excited about working with her to infuse these movies with her incredible work ethic and that genuine hopefulness and positive outlook that has been her trademark for years. And you can bet there will be a lot of her music in them too."
Singer/Songwriter Grace Valerie took to the stage at the House of Blues on the Sunset Strip last night and I was there.
The singer of the Randy Jackson (yes, that Randy Jackson) produced hit single "When The Lights Go Down" and her current hit, and my personal favorite of hers "Not For Love" produced by the prolific Busbee sang both of these songs and others with a live band and she rocked it!
So enough of my word vomit and let's see the photos I took of the evening shall we????
Sixteen years after Ellen Degeneres came out on Ellen another network comedy with a lesbian lead is coming to primetime. NBC has given a pilot order to a multi-camera comedy executive produced by DeGeneres. The project, titledOne Big Happy, is written/exec produced by openly gay comedy scribe Liz Feldman (2 Broke Girls). In it, a gay (woman) and straight (man) best friends decide to have a baby together, but things get complicated when the man finds the love of their life. Um, I was going to say "Holy Will & Grace" but this sounds a whole lot more interesting and progressive.
Elisha Cuthbert from the classic show 24 and the awful remake of House of Wax (sorry Elisha I like you but, damn, really?!) is set to star in the pilot.
"If you don't know my dog's name is Jack, you must live under a rock" - Mariah Carey "Access Hollywood"
Earth to Mariah, we have much to teach you. No I did not know your dogs name was Jack, and I really don't care, sorry if I hurt your feelings. But how could I miss today's news?!
What do I think of this? It really does not matter to me as I have long stopped watching "American Idol" or caring...it is still the highest rated show on TV despite the ratings slip of late. Yeah, boo hoo to the producer's of that show....NOT!
Do I think Mariah will boost ratings, who knows, whatever, I am blogging on this because I do entertainment and it is "news" in the world I cover.
There are only two times I ever cottoned to Ms. Carey - 1) was her surprisingly good performance in the film "Precious" and 2) well if she promises to be drunk every week like she was at the Palm Springs Film Festival, I would TOTALLY tune in to see THAT!
