"Kill her, Mommy! Kill her! Don't let her get away, Mommy! Don't let her live!"
- Pamela Voorhees
Since I participated in Throwback Thursday yesterday, because, well it was Thursday, duh, I thought I would take the opportunity to engage in Flashback Friday, ya know, since it's Friday the 13th after all.
Think back to the year 1980 when the original Friday the 13th movie was released at the height of the slasher film craze. At what point was that in your life? Me? I was a Freshman in High School, be nice now. I was too young to get in to see it solo and no one would take me. So I had to wait for home video. What I do remember was it upped the ante in terms of graphic killings on screen. The story of doomed counselors at the now legendary Camp Crystal Lake aka Camp Blood had critics recoiling and audiences shrieking! Everyone in school who had been able to see it was a buzz about it describing the bloody deaths of the camp staff with a perverse glee. When I finally got around to seeing it, the horror movie that raised the bar had been surpassed by others post it. The original Friday the 13th is now considered a horror classic because of it's influence on the genre. Something I know at the time was never contemplated of happening. It remains one of my favorites of a specific place and time in cinema, because, in case you haven't guessed it "Yes"I love a good scare...Boo! Happy Friday the 13th! Check out the trailer for the original Friday the 13th after the jump!
It's Throwback Thursday peeps! Yay, Yahoo, Yippy Skippy and all that noise!!! So I thought for it I would honor one of my favorite actresses by posting her High School yearbook photo: Sharon Stone. As you can see Sharon has always been a beauty. Not only that, she has brains, a wicked sense of humor, not to mention some razor sharp basic instincts. What's not to love about her? Apparently she has problems with men approaching her for dates, I guess straight guys find her intimidating. So, she joined forces with funnyman James Corden for a rap video that brilliantly roasts her image, yet provides proof that Sharon has still got it at age 58! Madonna could take some lessons from Stone on how to remain hot & sexy while aging gracefully. Check out the video after the jump!

Jennifer Lawrence channeling Marilyn Monroe?! Is it a sign of the Apocalypse? Well sort of...
It's a sign of an X-Men: Apocalypse screening!
This is for all you fanboys out there who, love comic books and Jennifer Lawrence, and really who doesn't? I am sure there are some, but you are in the minority.
Me? I am a J-Law fan, comic book movies? Not my thing overall, but I have seen a few including the original X-Men, which I did enjoy.
Mostly I woke up today and felt rested and fun. This lead to a need to share that with others. Thus I thought I would score with something that would put a smile on many people's faces.
For those of you who are not fans of The Good Wife, well you missed out. For those of you who are, if you haven't seen the series finale that aired last night yet, stop reading now (spoilers!) I'm going to go against popular flow and state I actually loved the finale. Although I think there was too much time wasted on Peter's trial that could have been used to give Cary and Diane a little more closure, to me it was the perfect way to close one of the best shows to ever air on Network TV. Alicia Florrick is committed, if nothing else to being "The Good Wife." so committed that she burned everything and everyone around her to achieve the goal of helping her husband Peter, while actually becoming him. A change for the better? Perhaps not, but Alicia has always been an island unto herself and at the end of the show that's the way she ends up transformed and alone. No Peter as she walks away from him while making it clear she wants Jason by calling out his name while doing so. No Jason he ghosted her in the crowd when Peter resigned and accepted a years probation for his recklessness. Like a ghost he vanished too. Diane is gone too as Alicia went behind her back and betrayed her by getting fellow lawyer and partner in crime Lucca Quinn to put Diane's husband Kurt through the ringer on the stand in Peter's corruption case to help out her husband. Will Gardner came back as a ghostly guide of sorts. More like the only shred of conscience Alicia had left. It worked and was fun to see the two of them together again. Alicia ending up alone was quite fitting. For those of you who thought she should end up with Jason, I felt her having her fun with him was enough as the story was hers. Hey, Alicia Florrick definitely is one woman who above all else never needed a man.
Hello peeps, and Happy Mother's Day! Today is the day specifically set aside to honor that special someone who you call Mom, I personally never use the word Mother because I use that word for other things. Today I am honoring two women, my Mom and my Sister. While my Sister obviously isn't my Mom but she is an amazing Step Mom to my three awesome nieces. Also it is my wonderful siblings Birthday today as well. Sue is the best Sister in the world. She is always there for me with her love and support and most importantly if I need to confide in someone she can keep a secret. My Mom is always there for me as well. Her belief in me and the path I am on never falters. Of course we aren't always on the same page, but the love is unconditional. The photo above was taken outside the Tides Tavern (in case you couldn't tell) in Gig Harbor, WA when I was visiting for Christmas after we all had lunch there. I remember it well. I had my first steak and brie sandwich, YUM! Good Times! Miss you two, love you and I will see you again soon. Happy Mother's Day Mom & Sue. Happy Birthday Sis, no I won't say how old you are <wink>
Hey all you film buffs & science fiction nerds, check this film out. It looks soooooo juicy!
MVD Entertainment Group has acquired all North American distribution rights to science fiction thriller SUBTERRANEA, the award-winning festival favorite from the producer of Jerome Bixby's The Man From Earth. The auspicious debut from director and screenwriter Mathew Miller, Subterranea was inspired by British progressive rock band recording artist "IQ" and their successful 1997 concept album of the same name and stars Bug Hall (The Little Rascals (1994), American Pie: The Book of Love), two-time Emmy Award Nominee Nicholas Turturro (The Longest Yard, "NYPD Blue", "Blue Bloods") and William Katt (Carrie (1976), The Man From Earth, "The Greatest American Hero").
Subterraneastars Bug Hall as "The Captive", who was locked in a dark cell as a small child and was raised in complete isolation, never seeing daylight or even another human being. Over twenty years later, without warning, he is released into society with nothing but the clothes on his back. Determined to find out who he is, The Captive discovers that he's the centerpiece of a dangerous orchestrated sociological experiment and sets off to find the truth about his shadowed existence, ultimately leading to a thrilling confrontation with his maker, "The Provider" (William Katt).
Following the release of IQ's double album "Subterranea", writer / director Mathew Miller was inspired. "As a huge fan of IQ, I was honored and thrilled to be collaborating with Peter Nicholls (IQ lyricist, writer and lead vocalist) and the band. My goal was to respect the original material and bring to life the already stimulating and poignant images the music has created in all of our minds and hearts as fans."
As the film was in development, Mat struck a professional friendship with one of the producers fromThe Man From Earth, Eric D. Wilkinson. Wilkinson's debut film has achieved "cult status" (The Man From Earth now resides among the Top 50 Science Fiction Films of all time on the IMDb) and was confident that he could help bring this film to a wider audience.
Subterranea Trailer
"When I first read Mat's script, I fell in love with the story and characters," said Wilkinson. "In some ways, the film reminded me of The Man From Earth. It had that 'intellectual sci-fi feel' to it, and at the same time, really played well as a conventional thriller. Mathew is a super talented young director and I was committed to helping him realize his vision for the material. MVD is a great company that is exceptionally supportive of filmmakers and producers and I look forward to our film's release later this year."
Subterranea has been receiving accolades on the festival circuit including Grand Prize Winner: Vortex Sci-fi & Fantasy Award- 2015 Rhode Island International Film Festival, Winner - Jury Prize - Best Film - 2015 Reel East Film Festival, Official Selection - 2015 Reno Tahoe International Film Festival, Official Selection - 2015 Queen City Film Festival and Official Selection - 2015 Montana Film Festival. The film made its European premiere in London on May 1st, 2016.
Subterranea will debut on Digital, VOD, DVD and Blu-ray on September 13, 2016 from MVD Entertainment Group. Special Features included on the disc include two behind the scenes featurettes "The Making of Subterranea" and "On the Set of Subterranea - Timelapses, deleted scenes and the original theatrical trailer."
Yeah, I was more than a little blind sided when Cyndi Lauper announced that her latest effort would be a "Detour" into country music of all things. That being said, on the flip side of the so unusual announcement, as a fan who has seen her live and owns her previous output I went: "Yeah, she is going to nail it!" Guess what?! She does! If you are a Cyndi or country fan, get yourself "Detour" and get it now! Being a person who loves Patsy Cline I am particularly partial to Lauper's covers of Walkin' After Midnight & I Fall To Pieces. Below is the track listing for "Detour" and Cyndi's tour dates. In the middle of one wild & crazy day yesterday, fielding what seemed like my millionth call, what to my wandering ears did I hear? But the familiar beep of a text message coming in...well it was from none other than my friend E.G. asking me this:
"Hi Sweety ! I wanted to see if you could do a little FYI to your peeps about my gig coming up at the Whisky July 22 I will be headlining w Missing Persons for a fun 80's night!"
Done and I am so in! You should be too E.G. slayed when she performed there last in November and I expect she will again since Ms. Thang is a natural born entertainer.
Also there is the bonus of an 80's theme that brings Missing Persons along for the ride.
Forget penciling it in, use a pen, how about sending a text to yourself about it. Whatever you do you won't want to miss this date! Hope to see you there!
From his vivid childhood on the fabled mid-20th-century streets of South Philadelphia, to his reign as the Justin Bieber of the “Camelot” era, his battles with alcoholism, and his lifesaving double-transplant surgery, multi-talented entertainer Bobby Rydell has one hell of a story to tell.
And tell he did, here for an exclusive chat with Entertain Me about his autobiography, Teen Idol On The Rocks is none other than Rock-n-Roll legend: Mr. Bobby Rydell! MS: Hi Bobby. A friend of mine performed with you at the Hollywood Bowl for Y-Day in 1963. BR: Oh my God. Who was it? MS: Do you remember Mike Clifford? BR: Oh yeah, yeah, I remember tell him "Hi" for me. MS: What compelled you to write Teen Idol On The Rocks? BR: Being on the road for many years, after the show you get together sit down, talk to people and you start relating stories. This had been going on for quite a few years and everybody who I kept company with would say: Bobby, you have such great stories, why don't you write a book? I'd always be like: Yeah, yeah, yeah. To make a long story short my wife said: Why don't you seriously think about putting your life together in a autobiography? I thought maybe it isn't such a bad idea. So, I got together with a friend of mine Allan Slutsky, he's a Grammy winner and wrote a book called Standing in the Shadows of Mowtown, we sat for eighteen months. He was here with a tape recorder, a piece of paper and a pencil, I just poured my heart out to him and lo and behold, here's the book.
Forget Him
MS: Mike mentioned that you performed the song "Forget Him" at Y-Day. I didn't realize I had actually heard the song until I pulled it up online. BR: That was my third million selling hit. I recorded it in London, England. The song was written by a gentleman named Tony Hatch, who also wrote "Downtown" for Petula Clark. We got together while I was over in the UK and not only did we record "Forget Him" we recorded a whole album, we released the single which became a big hit, so the album was of course titled " Forget Him." (laughs) MS: When did your alcoholism start? Was that your whole career or later in it? BR: Later in my career. Prior to becoming a really heavy drinker I was more or less a social drinker. Going out to dinner having a cocktail, maybe a liqueur after. But what actually led to all the drinking was back in 2003 my wife of thirty-six years passed away from breast cancer. She was a very important and loving part of my life. When she passed I just couldn't handle it. I was weak and depressed so I turned to alcohol. I thought a couple of drinks a day would be OK. But a couple of drinks became four, than eight, eight became twelve, I drank my ass off. It went on for quite a few years and that's what led to my double transplant, a new liver and a new kidney. MS: It's pretty amazing that you received both of those. BR: There was a Doctor in 2010 who said: Bobby if you don't stop drinking you're going to be dead in two years. I laughed and said: Well I have another two years. He was right on the money, because in 2012 I had the surgery.
Bobby Today
MS: Something cool I read was that The Beatles paid homage to you in one of their songs. Also I read that they all but killed your career. Please explain that. BR: Well not only me, but quite a few American artists. When they hit not only them, but a whole bunch of artists from the UK came to America, we called it the British Invasion. Basically that's what it was. Everybody has their day an God Bless them. Before The Beatles became anything I was traveling with a young woman, Helen Shapiro who was a big singer in the UK. We were doing a tour, traveling on a bus through the UK doing different cities. One night in front of the bus there was a car and Helen yelled out "There's The Beatles!" I didn't know what she meant I started looking around the bus for cockroaches. Anyway the bus stopped, the car stopped, the four guys got on the bus. Now they knew me, and I just shook their hands, they're The Beatles, their a band, that's cool, they were on the road too. They went their way, we went our way. Then I come home, now it's 1964 and I am watching Ed Sullivan and there are The Beatles! I go "Jesus I met those guys!" it would have been such a great picture, before they made it they came on the bus in the middle of the UK ten or eleven o'clock at night, no picture. That would have been fantastic! Then later Paul McCartney would they got "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah" from me. That's like a feather in my cap. (laughs) MS: I've always been familiar with the name Bobby Rydell. In fact when I saw that the name of the High School in the movie "Grease" was Rydell High, I knew it was named for you. BR: People have brought that up many times. I don't know why they picked me. It could have been Presley High or Fabian High, or anything really. MS: Rydell sounds like an actual High School. BR: Does it really? Well, maybe it does. Yeah, I guess it does. (laughs) MS: I don't think Fabian or Presley High sounds real. BR: Yeah, yeah you're right, not even I thought those names sounded right for a High School when I said them. (laughs) Teen Idol On The Rocks will be available tomorrow, May 4th on Amazon and at Barnes & Noble. Keep Rocking With Bobby at:
