Monday Motivation

I agree with this quote from Boy George 100% thus it is today's Monday Motivation. The beauty of what he says is that you can apply it to other things as well by simply changing the word "sexuality" out for other things such as "Good Person."

Of course the lead in would need some adjustments as well so then it would read: "If you're so secure with yourself you don't need to say you're a good person" and so on...

See? It's applicable to all forms of narcissistic behavior...

Your Monday Motivation assignment is to insert the "thing" in your life into Boy George's quote. It will cathartic, not to mention fun!!!

Michael's Musings

"Beat It Creep"
Michael Shinafelt
In case you can't read my T-Shirt it states "Beat It Creep" (the hazard of taking selfies) that reflects a certain type of feeling I have of late towards specific current events. If you think Wanda from Cry-Baby when you see it you would be correct. It's part of Traci Lords clothing line for Pin-Up Girl which can be found here:
https://pinupgirlclothing.com/collections/traci-lords-for-couture-for-every-body moving on -

This week has left me wondering many things. None of them particularly relevant to to anything other than the 360 degree circle of life.

Yeah, I am extrapolating in riddles, giggles & perhaps if you rock me real nice baby, sh!ts! Don't speak, it's time to get down to the master beat. "Yes" beat it 😜

I am the straw that stirs the drink

Google Otto Titsling - you know you want to

Did I ever disclose I want to be Jackie Onassis, I want to wear a pair of dark sunglasses? If you don't know who she is, defile yourself

Pique is a turn

Not to be confused with PK from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills who Brian Moylan of The Vulture accurately described as a: Fondue made out of smegma

Speaking of smegma, how about that William Barr?!

I wanna explore your Mojave

That lady called Mommy a slut, what does it mean?

Boy George has a thing for Nikki Sixx, the more you know...

on the set of "Bewitched"
Sometimes we all need a little Endora to give us life

FYI I have no obsession with baby showers despite rumors to the contrary

This just in - Somebody loves you (not me I think you are a c#nt)

Do you really want to hurt them?

Rock Fuel Media is excited to announce the release of Live At Wembley from multi-Platinum and '80s icons CULTURE CLUB. A state-of-the-art DVD, Blu-Ray, and CD package, is out now via Cleopatra Records. The concert will be broadcast on TV in 2018, details of which will be announced soon.

For this very special hometown show, all four original band members-Boy George, Jon Moss, Roy Hay and Mikey Craig--reunited for one final show together at the historic Wembley Arena in London.

Boy George states:

"We were thrilled to be back home for the final show of such a highly successful reunion tour. Being able to document this show on film before our hometown fans, friends and family, with all the original members of the band, where it all began for us in London in 1981, makes this concert film release that much more special for our fans to enjoy for many years to come."

CULTURE CLUB returned home for the holidays in 2016 and performed live at Wembley Arena, after a hugely successful 60-city world tour. Featuring an explosive horn section and mind-blowing backup soul singers, the band ignites the stage before a sold-out crowd, as Boy George commands the catwalk with his masterful charm and smooth soulful voice, performing the band's biggest hits, including "Karma Chameleon," "It's A Miracle," "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me," "I'll Tumble 4 Ya," "Church Of The Poison Mind," and "Miss Me Blind." They close the show with a rousing cover of T. Rex's "Bang A Gong (Get It On)."

Live At Wembley showcases why CULTURE CLUB's unique pop, soul and reggae styles resonate with fans 35 years after the 1982 release of their  Kissing To Be Clever debut album. It was produced by award-winning producer, Barry Summers of Rock Fuel Media (Guns N' Roses, Smashing Pumpkins, Jane's Addiction, VH1's Decades Rock Live Series) and directed by Mark Ritchie (Madonna, Kanye West, Jane's Addiction). Michael's Musings

The Rock Star & The Nerd
Starring:
Taylor Momsen & Michael Shinafelt
This past week I had the pleasure of seeing a live show by The Pretty Reckless, courtesy of my friend and awesome publicist Ken Phillips at The Mayan in Los Angeles.

What word would I use to describe the performance? WOW! Front woman Taylor Momsen (former star of Gossip Girl) will make you forget she started out as an actress. She was born to rock!

Enough of the hyperbole, let's kick it!

Has anyone out there ever had a lawsuit over frozen embryos other than Sofia Vergara?

I had a colonoscopy in Los Angeles. You should have one too if you live anywhere else and are due. Don't put it off. PS - I passed with flying colors and gas.

Confession. The Pretty Reckless show is the first time I had Jack Daniels & Diet Coke as a complimentary drink in a long time. I chose it because the show was late and I knew it would keep me awake.

Addendum to the above confession. After I got home from the awesome show and wound down, I had a dream I was doing drugs with Miley Cyrus. See how long it's been since I drank "liquid crack" which is my pet name for it.

Ken Phillips gave me a really groovy Margaret Cho hoodie for my Birthday. It's December 18th mark your calendars.

I have the biggest crush on someone.

A shout out to fellow writer Selena Fragassi who I met at the TPR show. Welcome to Los Angeles

Looks like Boy George is going to be a presence on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills this season. You thought Lisa Vanderpump was a sniper from the side, just you wait!

I asked a security guard to fasten my wristband on me for The Pretty Reckless show instead of doing it myself. I told him I was mentally challenged, he laughed.(glad there are people out there who still have a sense of humor)

Can we all just be honest BTW. Unless a miracle happens, we are going to make history, "yes" for the first time ever we are going to have a sex worker as first lady. While I have nothing against sex workers, I do have a thing against hypocrisy.

Cyndi Lauper Is A Little Bit Country

Yeah, I was more than a little blind sided when Cyndi Lauper announced that her latest effort would be a "Detour" into country music of all things. That being said, on the flip side of the so unusual announcement, as a fan who has seen her live and owns her previous output I went: "Yeah, she is going to nail it!"

The 27-city tour kicks off in Nashville, Tenn. at the Ryman Auditorium. “There’s something so very magical about the Ryman and all the rich history there. Just to think it’s the same stage where Wanda Jackson and Patsy Cline performed so long ago and here I am singing songs they made famous on this record - it’s such an honor,” Lauper said.

DETOUR features guest appearances from country music stars Vince Gill, Emmylou Harris, Alison Krauss, and Willie Nelson. Lauper recorded the album in Nashville alongside a band comprised of the city’s top session players.

Growing up, Lauper recalls listening to country music on her Aunt Gracie’s kitchen radio. “When I was a really young kid, country music was pop music, so this is what we grew up listening to. These songs are part of some of my earliest memories so it has been an absolute thrill to revisit them.”

Ant Music For Sex People

Adam Ant "The Blueblack Hussar"
In-depth documentary coming to on DVD and digital platforms in the US
on October 16th

"Jack Bond's intriguingly unguarded fly-on-the-Ant-wall doc finds Adam himself a mite stomped-on by mental health issues and music-biz vagaries." - The Guardian

Hey, no Halloween season would be complete without the a glam king...and here one is, the truly original, one of a kind Mr. Adam Ant - Shade too white!
This Sunrise Pictures production was described as, "Amazing and wonderful", by Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin and, "Up there with Pennebaker and the Maysles Brothers", by Sam Dunn, BFI. The film's Director, the renowned Jack Bond, captures this true icon's extraordinary and brave comeback, after years of mental health problems. The 99 minute film comes packaged with bonus features like rare live performance footage, and a Q&A with Jack Bond hosted by journalist John Robb. The trailer can be seen here: http://youtu.be/lZ2d3TwWVLo

The Blueblack Hussar is Adam's latest persona and, so emboldened, he embarks on his first tour for 15 years with a new backing band, 'The Good, the Mad and the Lovely Posse'. For the first time since his Punk roots, Adam is captured playing with a young, hungry band, and collaborating with the likes of Boz Boorer (Morrissey, The Pole Cats, etc). The film includes electrifying live performances, starting at London's 100 Club and culminating at Hyde Park, before an audience of 55,000. Jack Bond's 'fly on the wall' direction includes intimate scenes of Adam at home, backstage and even getting a new tattoo. The film exposes Adam's complex personality through the characters he interacts with on his journey, who include Amy Winehouse producer, Mark Ronson, Jamie Reynolds of The Klaxons and the legendary Pop Artist Allen Jones ('A Clockwork Orange'), Adam's art student days' mentor.
Will You Accept This Rose?
Adam Ant
The film takes in the atmosphere pervading Adam's life in London, including that explosive show at the 100 Club. The Blueblack Hussar also follows his escape to Paris to record with his 'Bardoesque' backing singer, Twinkle and the enigmatic film star, Charlotte Rampling, who inspired his first album, 'Dirk Wears White Sox'. Jack Bond, one of Britain's most innovative directors, returns to the Cinema Verité roots of his ground-breaking 1965 film, 'Dali in New York' to portray the creative talent of Adam Ant, another 'mad genius'.

Jack Bond himself is an English Director/Producer of feature films and television documentaries, including films on Salvador Dali, Roald Dahl, Patricia Highsmith, Werner Herzog and The Pet Shop Boys. Three of his feature films: 'Separation', 'Anticlock' and 'The Other Side of the Underneath' have been re-released on DVD and Blu-ray by the BFI. Jack Bond is to be the subject of a biography by Kirk Lake ('There Will Be Rainbows', a biography of Rufus Wainwright) and is currently working on a new feature film.

The Blueblack Hussar is an honest - at times excruciatingly so - portrait of a troubled, but ultimately triumphant natural talent. The years may have marched on but Adam Ant, as this unflinching film proves beyond doubt, remains a true star.

Bonus Materials include:
Live performance of 'Whip in My Valise' at The Scala, London
Live performance of 'Young Parisians' duet with Boy George
Live performance of 'Deutsche Girls' at the Electric Ballroom, London
Q&A Jack Bond and journalist John Robb

Caitlyn Jenner Goes Greek

Caitlyn at The Greek

Last night Caitlyn Jenner stepped out to introduce Boy George and the Culture Club at The Greek Theater in Los Angeles, CA

Although I am sorry I missed seeing the band, my friend super publicist, Ken Phillips was there and snapped this photo of Caitlyn doing the honor.

I must say Caitlyn is way more outgoing and comfortable as her true self than she ever was prior to that.
