Jamie Lee Curtis

Winner!
Jamie Lee Curtis
Yep, I think the today's byline says it all, don't you? While she did not get nominated for her top notch performance as a PTSD survivor in Halloween, 2018 was indeed Jamie Lee Curtis' year.

Without her the forty year follow-up to the original Halloween would have been nothing. She was the key reason it was a success, that and good film making by David Gordon Green.

I know first hand that as many Halloween fans attended, there were a lot of people I know who said they were compelled to see it simply because Jamie Lee was in it. Oh, and many of these individuals had not seen the original. Really it wasn't necessary to enjoy this roller coaster which really could stand on it's own two feet without having viewed the 1978 classic.

The film was a huge hit and proved women of a certain age, over fifty can be a box office draw. In fact the biggest feather in Curtis' cap is that she had the biggest opening weekend at the box office starring a female lead over the magic number.

While she is simply presenting at this weekends Golden Globes, Jamie Lee is one of the true winners of 2018, acting award (which she does deserve IMHO) or not, Jamie Lee came, saw, conquered and won!

Hump Day & Chill

Don't Be A Drag, Just Be A Queen
Dita Von Teese
Since it is merely day two of 2019 I felt the need to Hump Day & Chill with something other than the usual flash of male skin. No, today is more of an alcohol sort of feeling, like a martini vibe all the way.

Usually I uncork some wine and rarely venture into hard liquor territory. That being stated I do like myself a martini from time to time of the gin variety. Recently I did imbibe in two of the delectable drinks during my friend Maresa's Birthday Celebration at the Saint Felix in Hollywood.

Oh martini it's been too long I must partake of thee more often than once in a fourth night.

So with some help from burlesque bombshell Dita Von Teese raise a martini glass with me on this second day of the New Year and Hump Day & Chill... Now to the real question of today, one olive, or two?

Hello 2019...

So it's January 1st 2019, feel different than when it was 2018 yesterday? Yeah, I figured not, perhaps you may be feeling hungover, but not like a "new you."

Let's cut through that noise and get real, it's simply a new year nothing has changed other than a number. Think of it as page one of three hundred and sixty five. Change, if you truly want it happens over time and by putting in the effort and wanting to evolve.

When it happens, it happens. It's not going to be brought on by some fairy tale notion that does not exist. For example my change happened in April of last year. It was the result of hard work on my inner as well as outer self, it happened when all my efforts came together and propelled me to the place I was supposed to be.

So enjoy your day off, because that's all it really is. Life should be a constant journey, the experience of it is a constant and isn't going to magically change until you put in the work and have the desire.

That being stated I wish everyone a great year, enjoy the ride and constantly motivate yourself to achieve your goals. Who knows they might happen sooner than you think.

Now if you'll excuse me I hear one of my goals calling - laundry...

It's NYE 2018!

2018
Courtney Love
It's another year under our collective belts and another one to tackle. What are your hopes and dreams for 2019

My feeling is the years all bleed together and there is not one that is more special than the other. How do I celebrate New Year's Eve? I watch TV, drink wine and give zero F#cks.

Thus for NYE I leave you with memes featuring two of my favorite female artists Courtney Love ringing out 2018 & Madonna ringing in 2019.

Process them anyway you like I don't give a F#ck!

Happy New Year

Saturday Sinema: Crimson Peak

Go Goth, or Go Home...
From the imagination of Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth, The Shape of Water) comes Crimson Peak, a lavish, stunningly realised journey into the dark heart of Gothic romance... Beginning in Buffalo, New York, during the 1880s, Crimson Peak stars Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland, Stoker) as Edith Cushing, an aspiring writer who is haunted by the death of her mother. Edith's falls in love with seductive stranger Thomas Sharpe (Tom Hiddleston, Avengers Assemble), who whisks her off to Allerdale Hall, his baronial, yet dilapidated English mansion built upon a mountain of blood-red clay. Here Edith meets Lucille (Jessica Chastain, Zero Dark Thirty), Thomas's sister who at times seems hostile and jealous. As Edith struggles to feel at home in the imposing residence, she gradually uncovers a horrendous family secret and encounters supernatural forces that will help her discover the terrible truth behind Crimson Peak. Boasting incredibly intricate and ornate production design and a rich visual style, del Toro's film is a grandiose, boldly baroque triumph of Gothic decadence, which expertly combines and contrasts the sublimely beautiful with the shockingly grotesque. Crimson Peak is presented here in sumptuous special packaging, with a wealth of extra features, affording unprecedented insight in to the making of this modern Gothic classic.
