Walking In LA...

As a resident of Los Angeles, CA I am fortunate enough to live in a walkable hood. Thus I travel on foot most of the time. I love it because you see things you otherwise wouldn't in your car bubble.

I spied this van across the street whilst walking the other day.

So many things spring to mind seeing this. Especially one thing in particular...

Venture a guess? I double dog dare ya!!!

Current Mood

For those of you who haven't seen Nicole Kidman's brilliant performance in Babygirl you won't understand the image and tag line above to it's full extent. However you will get the drift. Fortunately the phrase can stand alone out of context as well, which is why "Get Exactly What You Want" is my Current Mood.

"Yes" 2025 is off to a rocky start, living here in Los Angeles with the devastation of the fires etc...and with January 20th looming we must fasten our seatbelts it's going to be an even bumpier ride.

This being said keep your focus on what you want and you shall receive.

Now get out there and seize the day!

Silencio

Naomi Watts & David Lynch
BTS Mulholland Drive

In honor of David Lynch's passing yesterday I watched Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me on MAX. The streamer also has Blue Velvet on it. I passed on the latter as I had rewatched it a few months ago before his current journey.

I remember seeing Blue Velvet when it hit theaters in 1986. I was in Seattle, WA then and went with two female friends from college. This was a film way ahead of it's time and trust me the sold out audience had a varying array of visceral responses.

One of my friends hated it, she felt the need to go home and take a shower as she put it after because she thought it was disgusting. Me and my other friend found it interesting and were invigorated by the unique vision we had just experienced.

Cut to my recent viewing of it. As a fifty something year old I now see Blue Velvet as a dark comedy that truly was released at a time where audiences weren't quite up to speed. I mean even I was somewhat taken aback by it back in it the day despite my liking it.

RIP David Lynch you challenged me on how I see the world and now I am better for it.

Michael's Musings

Good Vibes Only Please
Michael Shinafelt

Like my T-Shirt says "Good Vibes Only Please" living in Los Angeles, CA is stressful of late to say the least and personally I am tired of the negativity some cretins have aimed at the city and it's residents.

The bad mojo of false facts, politicizing a devastating situation and the fake AI images are not funny, they are in fact quite ignorant and damaging. If you or anyone you know have participated in these repellent activities please move on you are not welcome here...to the rest of you who have reached out, thank you for your compassion and "Good Vibes"

FYI if trans people wanted to groom your kids they would have joined churches and become pastors and priests, the more you know...

Whoever said the Bible is the greatest story ever told never heard about my trip to New Orleans for Mardi Gras, that's all

The person who put the "S" in fast food is a marketing genius

You are a ghost driving a meat-coated skeleton made from stardust hurtling through space. Fear nothing.

Finally got to see The Last Showgirl, Pamela Anderson is a revelation!

Do you believe in annoyed at first site? I do.

Can't afford a vacation? Drink tequila until you don't know where you are...!!!

For the record I don't chase, I attract. What belongs to me will find me. Simple.

Woman Crush of the Week - Bozoma Saint John from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. She is a welcome breath of fresh air, not to mention she is savagely funny! (sorry to hear she lost her home in the LA Fires)

Looking forward to seeing Fear Street: Prom Queen when it hits Netflix

Now I understand why chickens wake up and scream

Why has Trump been found guilty and the American People are the ones with a four year sentence?!?!

A big thank you to all the firefighters and first responders out there who are working tirelessly to keep Los Angeles and it's residents safe.

I'm off to yoga at Hollywood Forever Cemetery to send some "Good Vibes" out into the world

Hump Day & Chill

Bend It Like
Marilyn Monroe

After a week of Wild Fires (and counting) in Los Angeles, CA I thought it was time to revisit a simpler time in the cities history.

Let's take a Hump Day & Chill trip back to the days of yore when Marilyn Monroe lounged on a chair languidly looking like a million dollars, shall we? We shall!

Marilyn is the kind of woman you knew you could have a dirty martini with, laugh and confide in. I bet she would never tell anyone your secrets, and you'd better not spill hers either.

So let's raise our collective glasses and toast to the history of Los Angeles/Hollywood and remember a time and place when things were less chaotic.

Hump Day & Chill...Cheers!
