Hitchcock and Humor

"Hitchcock and Humor - Modes of Comedy in Twelve Defining Films"
by Wes D. Gehring coming June 26th

I don't want to start any blasphemous rumors, but I think Alfred Hitchcock has a sick sense of humor...
Paperback, 282 pages, McFarland & Co inc

"Gehring remains supreme in film comedy scholarship" - Choice
Woody Allen's Manhattan Murder Mystery has been described as "a kind of Rear Window for retirees." As this quote suggests, an analysis of Alfred Hitchcock's methodical use of comedy in his films is past due.

One of Turner Classic Movies' on-screen scholars for their summer 2017 online Hitchcock class, Gehring grew tired during research of misleading throwaway references to the director's "comic relief." This book examines what should be obvious: Hitchcock systematically incorporated assorted types of comedy-black humor, parody, farce/screwball comedy and romantic comedy-in his films to entertain his audience with "comic" thrillers. And a bonus twist is a provocatively new dark comedy "reading" of the Hitchcock MacGuffin.

Wes D. Gehring is a distinguished professor of film at Ball State University and associate media editor for USA Todaymagazine, for which he also writes a column "Reel World." He is the author of 39 film books.

Monday Motivation

F/U
Sarah Silverman
Today's Monday Motivation is F/U as in Follow Up. There are so many things that are pending that need taking care of. What should you do in this particular sitch? F/U! That's correct minions Follow Up.

Following up is like Jesus, magic (a wink and a nod to Entertain Me's F/U motivator Sarah Silverman) - You know the older than dirt adage "The squeaky wheel gets the grease?" Today become the wheel that squeaks and well, you might get greased, or not. But you will get what you crave sooner then later.

I have a check list of things that I am going to tackle, and I know from past experience when I have went to the F/U side those things will happen.

Thus I will now take my leave my minions...F/U it's time to Monday!

Mother's Day

Norman Bates
"Psycho"
Happy Mother's Day, to all of you out there who have a paternal role in a child's life. Because as Norman Bates says, well refer to the above image for that quote.

Yeah, I took a turn to the macabre a tad today, but not really, it's more of a nostalgia type of thing. You see there was this Psycho marathon on HBO recently and I sat through it, the danger of channel surfing.
Mother & Son
Norma & Norman Bates
Thus when Mother's Day 2019 arrived I thought it would be a nice twist to honor those out there who know their role by going a little mad, like we all do sometimes 😉

So Cheers to everyone out there who has one of the most important jobs in the world.

Happy Mother's Day to you all!

You're A Shining Star

Smile Everyone, Smiles
Anne Hathaway
With her latest movie The Hustle co-starring Rebel Wilson opening today, Anne Hathaway received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame yesterday, naturally.

The Oscar Winning actress for Les Miserables, certainly has a great body of work that has earned her the honor.

But in all honesty what compelled me to do a post on this today was the infectious smile she had while being immortalized on Hollywood Blvd

"Yes" her smile is what's making me happy this morning, Friday May 10th 2019. It's the most sincere thing I have seen all week.

Thanks Anne for a lovely kick off to the day ahead, your mega watt smile is one of the many reasons you're a shining star. So bend it like Anne today minions, like I know you can.

Go get em'!!!

Hump Day & Chill

Does This Wine Give Me A Silky Sheen?
Kate Middleton
Today's Hump Day & Chill is brought to you by The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton & Cabernet Sauvignon. Yeah, you read that correctly minions.

According to hairstylist John Blaine, a serving of Cab is the secret to Katie's shine & bounce in her hair. He also teases Dita Von Teese's tresses (say the three time fast, I dare your ass.)

However it really isn't about imbibing it, nope, you apply it straight to your hair.

Well alrighty then, file this under take it or leave it potential useless information.

Frankly, I'd rather drink Cab, by the gallons than pour it on what's left of my hair. "Yes" it is my favorite form of grape.

So saddle up beside me and enjoy a glass or two, and don't F#cking waste it on your mane, or what's left of it.

Cheers Bitches!
