Film Buff Friday: The Passion Of Darkly Noon

The Desire...The Obsession...The Nightmare...

IF YOU GO DOWN TO THE WOODS TONIGHT... Described by critic Mark Kermode as an "extraordinary filmmaker" and "one of the UK's most imaginative talents", visionary British director Philip Ridley followed his sensational debut The Reflecting Skin with another surreal incursion into the dark heart of the 'American dream' in The Passion of Darkly Noon. Darkly Noon (Brendan Fraser) is the sole survivor of a military-style attack on an isolated religious community. Stumbling through a forest in a daze, he is rescued by the free-spirited and enigmatic Callie (Ashley Judd). Darkly finds himself feeling strange new desires for Callie as she nurses him back to health... only to watch her jump into the arms of her returning mute lover Clay (Viggo Mortensen). Lost in the woods with only his fundamentalist upbringing to make sense of his unrequited passions, Darkly soon descends into an explosive and lethal rage. Now available for the first time worldwide on Blu-ray™, Ridley's talent for spellbinding, hallucinogenic dream imagery is on full display in a glittering new transfer of his most formally inventive and electrifying film. The mesmerising soundtrack includes two songs co-written by Ridley for the film, "Look What You've Done (To My Skin)" performed by Gavin Friday and "Who Will Love Me Now?" performed by PJ Harvey.

Tunesday Tuesday!

No Explanation Needed
Today I celebrate one of my favorite bands evuh! That's correct minions time to take out the trash and bring on the Garbage!

I have seen them and heard them in concert at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, CA  - they were real and spectacular. Front woman Shirley Manson's vocals are the bomb!

So, here comes one of my favorite songs (actually all of their songs are my favorites) that really hits a home run as to what's happening now in the world.

"Yes" I, like all of us do, sometimes  "I Think I'm Paranoid" - well, seriously. Hey given everything that's happening now. I rest my case.

Mic Drop... "You can look but you can't touch, I don't think I like you much, Heaven knows what a girl can do, Heaven knows what you've got to prove"

Hit the timely video after the jump, yeah, I said jump.

Monday Motivation

Seeing Red
Meghan Markle & Prince Harry
With all the chaos in the world I thought we needed some Monday Motivation today that would represent and spread some joy. Thus when I stumbled upon this photo of the "Artist Formerly Known As Prince" Harry and Meghan Markle at the Mountbatten Festival of Music, I knew I have struck MM gold!

Because, let's face it, life is tough, that's just the way it is. These two are going trough their emancipation from the Royal Family at present and publicly so they are pretty much a unifying symbol of that.

Yet, those matching vibrant red ensembles are enough to put a smile on anyone's face 😀

Perseverance is the word for this Monday. Everyone of us has the strength to deal with life's adversities.

So put on your personal "vibrant red" and go out into the world and seize the day!

Cheers To Sunday, March 8, 2020
Kris Jenner
You  may be scratching your collective heads as to why I would simply title a post after the day, date and year it is. Well because Sunday, March 8th 2020 is an oddly event filled day, Usually you get one big to do going on, today in my world there are four, count em', four!!!

Let's start with the obvious, Daylight Savings Time. Remember to "Spring Forward" peeps. The second obvious on is it's International Women's Day. The third is obvious to those living in Los Angeles and participating in the Los Angeles City Marathon. Last but not least, on this event filled day, it's my Mom's Birthday to top it all off...Phew!

Which brings as to why I am using an image of Kris Jenner to cover it all. Whilst on Twitter this quote by her came through my feed via E!News "If somebody says no, you’re asking the wrong person."

This quote hit me where it counts, say what you want about Kris Jenner, but seriously this is amazing in it's simplicity and it's true.

I thought to myself, "This applies to the plethora of activity seizing the day" Now get out there and grab life by the _________ give it a name, it, like the day is yours minions...own it!
