The Ghost Of Hope - The Residents

Never fear The Residents are here!!!

Following their long tradition of projects based on narrative themes, The Residents are pleased to announce the release of The Ghost of Hope, a historically accurate album based on train wrecks from the late 19th and early 20th Centuries.

After discovering a series of vintage news articles highlighting the dangers of train travel in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and inspired by the era's graceful language, the group contrast that eloquence against the sheer horror of these devastating events. In their own unique style, the band has constructed a highly original series of tone poems quite unlike the music of anyone else - except, of course, The Residents. The album features guest collaborator Eric Drew Feldman - who has worked with everybody cool, so he's already in your record collection.

If there's a primary metaphor within this collection it is certainly found in that humble word 'hope.' When powerful men of the world build political campaigns around this simple four-letter word and fail, one wonders what life might become without it. Regardless, whether it be historical and literal, symbolic and metaphorical or simply nonsense, The Residents remain mum.

THE GHOST OF HOPE

"My heart is warm with the friends I make and better friends, I'll not be knowing,
Yet there isn't a train I wouldn't take, no matter where it's going."
                                                                                      -Edna St Vincent Millay
The Proverbial Train Wreck
The Residents
While the great poet's romantic relationship with train travel was undoubtedly heartfelt, she was definitely not traveling by rail as the 19th century neared its end.  The dangers posed by increasingly fast trains, coupled with heavier and heavier cargo loads, moving across an aging rail system, made derailment a common occurrence.

In addition, the primitive communications and safety mechanism of the era often resulted in either head-on collisions or, conversely, "telescoping," which occurred when a stationary or slow-moving train was hit from the rear by another train on the same tracks.  When this happened, especially in winter when the cars were heated by coal-burning stoves and illuminated by kerosene lamps, the wooden passenger cars were quickly engulfed in flames, resulting in a quick and unpleasant death for those surviving the initial impact.  In retrospect, a simple fact was obvious: this revolutionary technology was progressing faster than society could regulate or control it.

Utilizing various techniques, including music, sound effects and text from actual newspaper accounts from the era, The Ghost of Hope purports to recreate several of these horrific incidents.  While the dangers described in these factual events are now largely confined to the past, humanity perseveres, valiantly thundering ahead into the uncharted realms of digital technology, genetic engineering, artificial intelligence and the attempt to spread our seed throughout the cosmos.  Meanwhile, have we learned from the past or are we doomed to repeat our mistakes on an ever grander scale?

2 Hunks & A Diva

Your Never Fully Dressed Without A Hunk
l-r Ryan Kelsey, Vanessa Williams & James Davis
Since I love me some Vanessa Williams and who doesn't like to looking at Chippendale's Dancers - here is a photo of the diva and two hunks from the famed dance troupe at Ryan Kelsey and James Davis snapped at the Nevada Ballet Theater's Black & White Ball in Las Vegas.

Where it just so happens that Vanessa was being honored that evening. Coincidence, not!

Ms. Williams looks amazing as per usual in her black gown and the guys make the perfect shirtless accessories.

I think the next time I attend a gala I need  a couple of bare chested hunks to flank me on the red carpet. But I think I will wear something other than a black gown thank you very much.

Have a good one!

Monday, Monday....Stranger Things

"Monday, Monday, So good to me, Monday morning, It was all I hoped it would be" - The Mamas & The Papas

It's the Monday after the Screen Actors Guild Awards and there were some amazing speeches last nice in case you missed them.

Well since I have been super busy this weekend and am headed to a 6:30 am taping of Fashion Police this morning, let me leave you with one of them.

The cast of Stranger Things won for best ensemble in a drama series. The gang gave the mic over to star David Harbour better known as Chief Jim Hopper and boy was it amazing!

Thus I leave you with it to kick your week off on a positive note. I need to motor Margaret Cho and Melissa Rivers are waiting.

PS - be sure to check out Winona Ryder's facial expressions too, they are the best!

Get ready for a spoonful of truth!

Sunday Schwing! Jon Hamm

You Can Leave Your Tie On
Jon Hamm
For some reason this weekend I am in Schwing mode, which means, well you get the drift...

Seeing this photo of Jon Hamm made me have Mad Men yearning, I really miss that show it was simply one of the best. Due in no small part to Hamm's spot on portrayal of Don Draper and how damn hot he looks in a suit.

Only Jon Hamm can make wearing a suit into some of the hottest foreplay ever. No one wears a three piece and a tie and works it like him.

Here he is unveiling the 100 Greatest NHL Players in Los Angeles and looking quite dapper, not to mention lickable. Makes you want to unleash the Kraken, no?

Schwing baby it's Sunday!

Saturday Schwing! Andy Cohen

Come To Daddy
Andy Cohen
Nothing catches my eye more than a photo of a guy with his legs spread wide. Needless to say this image literally "popped" at me when I saw it.

I mean who knew the host of Bravo's Watch What Happens Live, Andy Cohen had this great of a body since he keeps it under wraps on the show.

Sitting on a medicine ball in his best come to Daddy stance and sporting a sassy Erika Jayne T-Shirt he's a Boy's wet dream and ideal for a Daddy/Boy/Daddy tag team session.

Yes, you can use Andy Cohen for many things in the boudoir, and from the looks of it I am sure he has done them all!

Happy Saturday and enjoy the DILF view! Schwing!!!

Because She's Sharon Stone

Not Painting By The Numbers
Sharon Stone
T.G.I.F! You've all heard of the term Squad Goals by now, well what about Bod Goals? Yep, I am laying plans right now to look amazing by my 52 Birthday - I mean look at Sharon Stone, look at her, she is 58!

Yep, the woman painting in an infinity pool wearing a black string bikini is 50 friggin 8 years old! Can you fathom that?!

Stone is truly inspiring I must say. She makes one want to get off their duff and take care of themselves to look their personal best when most people are putting themselves out to pasture.

Cheers to you Ms. Stone and everyone else, have a terrific weekend!
