Hump Day & Chill

Season of the Witch
Jamie Lee Curtis

With only 10 more days left we have entered the final countdown until Halloween. Thus I thought we would Hump Day & Chill with the Queen of Halloween Jamie Lee Curtis, dressed as one of my favorite seasonal archetypes (other than a Vampire) a Witch!

So here's a Halloween story for you to Hump Day & Chill with. As a Kid I went out Trick or Treating as a Witch, and had mad crushes on Witches in general, pretty ones and green ones with warts.

Well my Dad took me to a Haunted House one year and there were people dressed as various spooky things entertaining people while they waited in line to enter. One woman was dressed as a, you've got it, Witch!

She was of the green with warts variety. She came up to us I told her I thought she was pretty and asked her if I could give her a kiss. She said "Yes" and thanked me after.

There you have it, now Hump Day & Chill on that for your remaining 10 day countdown!

"You Got What I Need"

Kenneth Gamble & Leon Huff

ETSY TO LEGENDARY PRODUCERS KENNETH GAMBLE & LEON HUFF:

‘YOU GOT WHAT I NEED’

Legendary Philadelphia International Records (PIR) co-founders and R&B pioneers Kenneth Gamble & Leon Huff have a new commercial placement from their massive song catalogue. “YOU GOT WHAT I NEED,” which Gamble & Huff wrote and produced in 1968 for Freddie Scott – three years before launching PIR - is currently getting massive TV exposure in a new ETSY.COM commercial. Philadelphia International Records was home to The O'Jays, Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, and many other acts that defined the Philadelphia soul sound of the '70s.

“Seeing the Etsy commercial featuring the song on TV so prominently, makes us instantly reflect back 52 years, when we wrote and produced the song in the studio for Freddie Scott – a great, yet unsung Soul/R&B artist and vocalist,” said Gamble & Huff in a joint statement. “We are so glad this original song and Freddie are getting their just recognition and their due.”

Usage of “YOU GOT WHAT I NEED” has proven popular for sampling in recent years. But this is the first time the original recording is anchoring a popular TV commercial in the U.S.

Rapper Biz Markie used many elements of the original recording on his 1989 hit "Just A Friend." Kanye West, Common, Pusha T and Big Sean feat. Kid Cudi and Charlie Wilson sampled the song on “Good Friday” (2010). Ghostface Killah sampled it on “Save Me Dear” (2004). And in 2017, Janelle MonĂ¡e sang “You Got What I Need” in a Gap commercial promoting their Christmas offerings.

“YOU GOT WHAT NEED” originally reached #27 on the R&B chart. Scott died in 2007 at age 74.

Monday Motivation

VOTING!
Taylor Swift

I know I've said it before and I'm gonna say it again, and most likely one more time before November 3rd. Today's Monday Motivation is VOTE! VOTE early, VOTE on election day, VOTE by mail or drop your mail in ballot off at an official drop off box. Not a fake GOP one, they send you the official locations near you with your ballot FYI.

Here today to help me motivate you is Taylor Swift. Ms. Swift has recently gotten vocal in a political way (not a music way, she's been doing that for a while.) about her political leanings.

She recently stood in line and cast her VOTE for Biden/Harris. How do I know who she VOTED for? Because she came out and backed the Biden/Harris ticket publicly, that's how.

Now I'm not trying to motivate anyone to cast their ballot a certain way, OK, yes I F#cking am! Please join Taylor and myself and cast your VOTE for people who are not insane and addicted to Adderall.

VOTE!!!

One Of The Tethered

Sharp Objects
Tracee Ellis Ross

Being as we are down for the count with a mere 13 days until Halloween, I thought I would bequeath to you Tracee Ellis Ross as one of the Tethered from Us.

Dress as a Tethered for the High Holy Day and you too can be your own doppelganger. That's correct Minions, after all who looks more like you, than, well, you! Or perhaps a real live Tethered (that's a conversation for another time.)

I'd tread lightly though around Tracee, she took being a Tethered to a whole new dimension. She's toting a mean looking scissor in her hands and from the looks of things knows how to, and will use them.

That's so Tethered!

10 Random Questions: David Pevsner

David Pevsner

David Pevsner, you may know his name, or not. But most have seen his face in things ranging from "Grey's Anatomy" - "Liz and Dick" opposite Lindsay Lohan. Or perhaps the web series "Old Dogs New Tricks."  Not to mention he has an Only Fans page.

Whatever the reason you recognize him, he has committed his hit one-man stage show "Musical Comedy Whore" to film, and it's out, now. He is also here to answer 10 Random Questions from yours truly, are you ready for David???

MS: Are you more a Musical Comedy Whore or Stud?

DP: I'll go with whore, since I actually was one for a stretch, and it was a great job, as I talk about in my film "Musical Comedy Whore." And even though we had to rename the film "Musical Comedy Stud" for Amazon Prime PPV only (everywhere else it's the original title), I kind of hate that word. Stud. Never thought of myself that way. Ever. Besides...I really want folks to see my film, so who knows what I would do to get them to watch!

MS: Lindsay Lohan?

DP: Oh lord. She was nice enough when we worked together on the classic and awful TV film "Liz and Dick" but barely said two words to me. What I really remember about her was when they asked me to shove myself into a corner so that they could have room to get over my shoulder footage of her, they asked if I was all right, and I said "Sure, I'll do whatever you want." Suddenly, she came to life and looked me right in the eyes and said, "DON'T EVER SAY THAT!!!!"  She was kind of looking out for me. Sweet. Ish.

MS: Zoom?

DP: Ugh. So sick of all those windows. And it has totally ruined my memories of my favorite PBS show when I was a kid. I wanted to be on "Zoom" so badly! Now, I don't much want to be on Zoom at all.

MS: Only Fans?

DP: Love it. Love making videos for it, love doing photo shoots for it, love writing dirty introductions for my media, love that it's helping out financially. It is totally letting me express the true me: arty/erotic/xxx. Onlyfans.com/realguyla  Don't join unless you want to see a whole other side of me. Or a hole other side of me. Every side of me.

MS: Shaken, or stirred?

DP: Stirred. For absolutely no reason at all.

It's Always Showtime At The Edge Of The Stage
David Pevsner

MS: Old Dogs, or, New Tricks?

DP: As long as the Old Dog isn't all jaded and dull, he can totally be my new trick!  If he's Covid safe, that is.

MS: Eggplant?

DP: I was all set to go into my recipe for roasted garlic eggplant which I love so much.  And then I thought, hey old man...EMOJI.  C#ck. Much more exciting and tasty than my roasted garlic eggplant.

MS: Fleetwood Mac?

DP: No opinion really. Strangely, since that's my generation. Ask about Barbra, Kenny Rankin, John Barry soundtracks, and older show tunes, and I can have a convo.

MS: Defying Gravity?

DP: Never saw "Wicked." Love the score. Love the song. Would never try to sing it in front of an audience, but I've been known to shriek it in my car with Idina. And on another note, my biggest dream is to fly. No airplane. On my own, like Superman. When "The Flying Nun" with Sally Field was on, I would have nightly dreams of me, the nice Jewish boy, in my wimple escaping my suburban reality. I would wake up with my hand on my forehead as if I was trying to keep it on against the wind.

MS: Grey's Anatomy?

DP: One of a bunch of doctors I've played on TV. Besides "Criminal Minds," I think it's the most I've made in residuals from my TV work. Ka-ching.

Thanks David!

Michael Shinafelt

Well Hello, and welcome to the nightmare known as 2020, my name is Michael, I'll be your Master of Ceremonies right here right now...."Yes" Minions I was in a horror movie once where I played a cop who expires in a violent way, because no one thought enough to renew him. It was called The Summer of Massacre, it was real and spectacular.

Only 16 more days until Halloween, I'd say send in the clowns, but they're already here. Let's have some fun, or not...

Remember when you used copious amounts of hair gel? Remember when people knew what copious meant?

'Cause the walls were shaking, The earth was quaking, My mind was aching, and we were making it and you, Shook me all night long! Having an AC/DC moment. You're welcome.

I would be seeing Halloween Kills this weekend, but thanks to a government that laughs at a pandemic. Yeah, there's that.

Sometime you gotta ask - Scooby Dooby Doo, where are you?

Caught the horror movie The Strangers for the first time on cable the other day. Great, well made film, wrong timing for me to be finally seeing it given every thing going on in the world.

What is it going to take for you to see me as a virgin? I ask you, I am waiting

Me when Carrie killed everyone at the prom "Good for her"

Guess what? My vote has been received and counted. Drop a ballot and get right to it - VOTE!
