Ch-ch-ch-ch-anges

Sometimes you have to turn and face the strange, or at least the unfamiliar. On the face of things something needed to change. Thus I headed into the Angeles Crest Forrest with a group of fellow meditators and Sky Gazed.

Sky Gazing is a Buddhist practice that is what it sounds like, you literally meditate by gazing up at the sky.

It's purpose? To strongly emphasizes the inherent, spontaneous, natural, pure, and radiant perfection of awareness that is already present in all humans. Sky gazing is one of the techniques to help a person notice this awareness in themselves.

I've been quite hyper aware since Sunday, I'll just leave that here...

It’s important to learn how to compromise with both of those things without letting either side get sabotaged. There’s always multiple perspectives with countless experiences to back them up. Hyperfocused is about pursuing your own personal growth without destroying the growth of others."

Let Them Eat Grape!

Look, I'm Grape!

In case you are wondering, as I know many of you must be, today is National Grape Popsicle Day! Woot!

There are many random official days out there and this is at least in the Top 20 head scratchers, but I'll play along because it's the weekend and were supposed to have fun,

So what can I say about the grape popsicle. It was actually a tie for my favorite flavor of PS. Cherry was the other.

I remember taking my time and sucking every drop of frozen grape juice out of this frozen treat until it was sucked completely dry.

Thus don't be offended today if someone tells you to "suck off" they most likely are honoring the grape popsicle.

Suck It!

Michael's Musings

Queen Tina!
Michael Shinafelt

With the passing of Tina Turner another part of my life is gone. Generally celebrity deaths don't hit me hard. But this one did.

She was such a part of my life, well ever since I can remember. She also played a big part in shaping the person I have become. Fortunately I got to see her perform four times. Three of those times were her headlining her own tour, once was opening for Lionel Ritchie (don't ask, long story.)

She was simply put, amazing!!! OK, it's time to muse...

FYI I'm here to replace hookers

Hump Day & Chill

Frank Booth
aka
Dennis Hopper

"She wore blue velvet, Bluer than velvet was the night, Softer than satin was the light

From the stars"  - Blue Velvet, Bobby Vinton

"Let's F#ck! I'll f#ck anything that moves!" - Frank Booth, Blue Velvet

Spotted this intense image of Dennis Hopper as Frank Booth straight outta the David Lynch classic Blue Velvet the other day and it brought back some, shall we say, interesting memories of seeing it when it first came out. I was in college in the Seattle area in case you were wondering.

I will tell you there had never been anything like it before, it caused a sensation in 1986. It seemed it was a love it/hate sort of proposition in terms of audience reaction. Critics on the other hand overall loved it.

One thing is also certain, you'd never seen anything like Dennis Hoper's portrayal of evil incarnate Frank Booth. He was one of the most disturbing and scary one man freak shows to ever grace the big screen.

Thus today we are going to have a Hump Day & Chill celebration of the late Dennis Hopper and the role he played that was a revelation of modern cinema, I'm going to find out where I can see Blue Velvet online TTFN and Hump Day & Chill Minions!!!
