The Desperate Hours

Director William Wyler (Detective Story, Roman Holiday) pairs up two Hollywood legends - Humphrey Bogart (Casablanca) and Fredric March (The Best Years of Our Lives) - for their only appearance together. The result is an electrifying tour de force pitting two giants of the silver screen against each other. Three escaped cons, led by the ruthless Glenn Griffin (Bogart), force their way into a suburban home, intending to hide out while they await the arrival of an all-important package. But what should have been an overnight stay extends into a protracted hostage situation, pitting Glenn against the embattled family patriarch, Daniel Hilliard (March) - a man with everything to lose. Adapted by Joseph Hayes (The Third Day) from his own novel and stage play and inspired by actual events, The Desperate Hours is a classic tale of suspense from a master filmmaker at the height of his creative powers, now fully restored from the original VistaVision negative.

Michael's Musings

Guts!

Happy first day of Fall Minions! Yesterday I passed this rather ostentatious advert for Olivia Rodrigo's Guts tour and album in Hollywood. Well I just had to get a photo of yours truly in front of it.

Guts pretty much sums up how I lead my life, and need to step up with some more to move forward. "Yes" the next leap is here, it's time to,make it. What a lovely way to kick off Fall!

At the end of the rainbow is a lot of Dopamine

Hump Day & Chill

Come Up To The Lab

"I'm just a sweet transvestite, From Transexual, Transylvania, ha ha" - The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Look on top of the Golden Gate Bridge! It's a bird! It's a unicorn! It's Frank-N-Furter!

That's correct Minions it's time for some Hump Day & Chill levity, come to think of it every Hump Day & Chill is focused on levity. Well nothing says that more than Frank-N-Furter (Time Curry) from The Rocky Horror Picture Show perched on top of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Nothing I tell you, nothing!!! And yet, here it is. The thing you never thought of, or knew you needed until right here, right now.

"Yes" it is truly amazing what one can find out there on the WWW and this is certainly one of the more unique items.

It's also one of the most Hump Day & Chill things ever!

Just Do It!!!

"Stories To Tell"

As musical trends come and go, The Hangmen have remained uncompromising since their formation in 1986. From big money major label deals to debilitating drug addiction, lead singer

Bryan Small has continued to charge forward with the headlong momentum of a runaway train.

Bridging the gap somewhere between The Gun Club and the Rolling Stones, the band’s latest offering, Stories To Tell smashes together Small's lurid love songs with unsparing, unsentimental blasts that shine a penetrating light into the dark and seedy corners of life. From the melodic “Midnight Riders” to the haunting “On The Outside,” Small delivers an album with a simplicity and depth of songwriting reminiscent of Neil Young and Tom Petty.

_“Midnight Riders is a rite of passage song. It’s the way my friends and I lived in our early days navigating life, being in bands and coping with everything as kids in Hollywood. We didn’t have boundaries. We had mentors who were notoriously fucked up geniuses in our eyes. I’m not surprised by the path we took for ourselves - some made it, some moved home and some died."

Small himself recently relocated after 38 years in Los Angeles to his hometown of Missoula, Montana, so his kids could grow up around family.

“We recorded in different studios over the course of about a year and a half, which is the way some of my favorite albums were made,” reveals Small, “This is the first record since Mike Ness (Social Distortion) produced In The City that I’ve kinda let go of the production and mixing to get a different view of these songs.”

Longtime Hangmen fan Rob Schnapf (Elliot Smith, Beck, X) also stepped in to produce two tracks on Stories: “On The Outside” and “Last Time I Saw You,” a tribute to “Rontrose” Heathman, the former Hangmen and Supersuckers guitar player who passed away in 2020.

Stories To Tell also includes a raucous cover of Credence Clearwater Revival’s “Sinister Purpose.” “CCR has always been a part of The Hangmen’s DNA to some extent. It was a bit of an overlooked song that spoke to us. Jimmy James (guitarist) brought it to the band and it was a natural fit.”

Stories To Tell will be released September 8, 2023 on Acetate Records. A month-long European tour commences September 13 in Paris.

Monday Motivation

Here's some Monday Motivation wisdom via Oscar Winner Jamie Lee Curtis' mouth. This is something I'm not sure you really grasp until a certain age. It's not something I think you could wrap your head around without a certain amount of years lived.

But if you do understand this completely and are under fifty, congratulations!!!

Personally it is my capacity to change that has given me tremendous happiness as well. It does make one more content to just be and flow with the world around themselves. I can be happy watching TV, Eating at my favorite local restaurant or experiencing what is happening around me in the moment.

Remember change and flow are essential and nothing to be afraid of. Adapt to your personal journey in life, relax and go with where it takes you. The rewards will be great!

Monday Motivation indeed!!!

In 44 Days...

Mia Farrow

This morning I was thinking how I can't believe next week is the last week of September, damn! i mean August went by at a moderate pace, but September is totally different head!

It also got me thinking about the fact that Halloween is quickly approaching, in 44 days to be exact.

Thus I gift you with this publicity still of Mia Farrow for Rosemary's Baby with a jack-o-lantern.

Nothing says Scary Season like demon spawn with a carved pumpkin accessory.

Minions start your celebration and start it now!!!

"All Mine"

Roman

Roman’s new single, “All Mine”, completes the artist’s trilogy of songs detailing the emotional rollercoaster of his five-year marriage and subsequent divorce.  Where “Price to Pay” dealt with the consequences of choosing a partner that did not reciprocate his love, “Crazy” was about the hurt, pain, embarrassment, and confusion that swirled in his head as a result of it, “All Mine” is more optimistic with an upbeat and playful retro vibe.  “It comes from a much stronger, more confident place,” Roman acknowledges. “I wrote the song when I finally came to understand that I have to shift my focus and make this moment about me and my priorities.”   Produced by Velvet Code, Roman’s “All Mine” is being distributed by So Fierce Music/The Orchard/Sony Music Entertainment and is available on Apple Music, Spotify, and all digital platforms.

“For too long, I’ve had a tendency to lose myself in supporting others,” Roman continues from his Los Angeles home.  “The main message of ‘All Mine’ is that we should never place the needs of another person or circumstance or situation above our own.”

Roman is renowned for his wide vocal range that spans four octaves and his electrifying sound that blends R&B with Hip Hop influences and pays homage to the legendary dance divas of the '90s and early 2000s.

Last year, his debut single "Price to Pay," produced by Velvet Code, soared to the top of the charts, reaching #1 for global digital and radio airplay, and the #4 spot on the House of Pride Top 30 chart, where it remained for seven months.  His second release, "Crazy," earned the adoration of DJs worldwide with the Tony Moran Anthem remix of the song premiering at White Party Palm Springs and climbing to the #3 position on the Masspool club chart and #1 on both the House of Pride Top 30 and the King of Spins DJ-rated chart.

All Mine” is produced by Velvet Code. The remixes are by DJ Guy Scheiman, Tweaka Turner, Rob Moore, and Dario Xavier.

The Vincent sisters provide the background vocals on “All Mine”. Pam Vincent is best known for singing back-up for Aretha Franklin in the 70’s and 80’s. Her sister, Joyce Vincent, is the other half of Dawn of Tony Orlando and Dawn.

“It was a blast producing these wonderfully talented ladies,” Roman says. “We were able to really stretch and play. They were such professionals and it was just the best time!”
