"Push" It In 2014 With Angela Rockwood

Angela Rockwood
2013 was shall we state an interesting year, read into that what you will. Whatever challenges we have all had and I know there have been many for all of us, let's let loose our inner "Push Girl" coming in to 2014.

"Push Girls" on the Sundance Channel, if you haven't seen it shows what reality TV can achieve, it is inspiring and entertaining without pandering to the lowest common denominator.

Tiphany, Auti, Mia, Chelsie & Angela give it to you straight and real, four of them are paraplegics with the sole exception of Angela Rockwood who is the only quadriplegic of the "Girls."

These women are amazing spirits who elevate themselves and you when you watch. They are not self pitying and really have a red hot fire in their souls.

Bringing me to Angela - I had the pleasure of meeting Angela at a Birthday Party a few years ago at Tokyo Delves in North Hollywood, CA.

Angela is beautiful inside and out and, like the other "Girls" an amazing testament to the human spirit and what it can achieve.

Well Angela has a 2014 calendar "The Yin and Yang of Ange" out that you can purchase and let her optimism and intelligence inspire you for the next 365 days.

So "Push" it like a "Push Girl" and get Angela's calendar - let 2014 be yours!

Happy New Year!

"Holiday" Celebrate, It's Christmas Day !

Warning: This Is Not The Virgin Mary
"If we took a holiday, Took some time to celebrate

Just one day out of life

It would be, it would be so nice"

In the wake of the group with the retro 80's sound Capital Cities recent performance of the Madonna classic on The Queen Latifah Show I thought I would wish everyone a Merry Christmas with a fond memory of my youth, Madonna's "Holiday" hey she never specified which one, or what kind, so it works in a universal sense.

When I was an impressionable 17 year old man I will never forget my first foray to Skoochie's (R.I.P.) a 16 and older club in Seattle, WA and seeing this woman with rubber bracelets and rosaries for days hanging off her bare midriff, it was really cool and an eye opener to the sheltered life I had been leading.

Since Christmas is a time of fond memories, and the 80's version of Madonna is one for me. Let's take a Holiday and celebrate, below...

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Parachute” showcases new territory for James leaning more on sing-a-long choruses with crisp pop-rock hooks while still letting his powerful and energetic voice shine.  “Parachute was the 10th song I wrote for the new album and as soon as we finished in the studio I knew it had to be the first single.  I can’t wait for everyone to hear it” said James.  “Parachute” is available on iTunes now and will impact Hot AC & Top 40 radio in January 2014.  .

Holiday Eating Tips With Dr. Nina

Dr. Nina Says
OK, as we are in the grip of "The Holiday Season" aka "The Eating Season" I though it would be a great idea to call in our favorite expert on eating disorders at "Entertain Me" Dr. Nina Savelle-Rocklin to offer tips to us about how to keep it in check.

Dr. Nina is awesome as she does not recommend dieting, I mean really dieting never works, she digs until she finds the root of the overeating and works with it from there. So here with a few tips to help you through the rest of "The Eating Season" is Dr. Nina!

Here are some tips and strategies for how to make it through the Holiday Season without losing control:

I suggest that trigger foods may be correlated with specific emotions.  She says, “If you are drawn to pumpkin pie and sweets, maybe you need more comfort and sweetness in your life.”

Dr. Nina also helps normalize real family dynamics during the holidays.  She asks listeners, “Does it seem as if everyone else is living in a Hallmark commercial, full of peace, love and happiness - and your family is more like a reality show?”

Check out her Holiday podcast below:

http://winthedietwarpodcast.com/

As Dr. Nina says, “If you struggle with food, weight and body image, the holidays can be difficult.  But with a little help, you can survive them without losing control, or losing your mind!”

Courtney Love Gives You "A Spoonful Of Bones" For Christmas

Lot's Of "Love" In This Spoonful

What else did you expect from the reigning Punk Priestess? With "Saving Mr. Banks" coming soon to a theater near you, Ms. Love decided to give us her take on the "Mary Poppins" classic "A Spoonful Of Sugar" for a spoken word piece in Garage Magazine.

This rendition that I found out about via Stephan Horbelt in Frontiers Magazine on my Facebook  home page really made my day, Thanks Stephan! We all need some edge to our Holidays, no? Because really the season tends to be a little bit overkill on the saccharine.

So for something a little different here is Ms. Courtney Love with her poetic take on a  "A Spoonful Of Sugar" - "A Spoonful Of Bones" lock up the young ones and take a swig of whiskey, or three and enjoy!
