Anna Paquin |
It's the Saturday before Easter and all through the house not a creature was stirring except for my Current Mood.
I don't know about you but my inner beast is stirring and it's not playing. Something's got to give and it's here to help me along the way.
"Yes" it's going to get pertty hairy and such but in the end it will be over and worth it.
Here to represent my inner beast is Anna Paquin straight outta Trick r Treat...Grrrrrrrrrowl!!!
For the record my inner beast actually barks at the moon, but I thought a growl was more universal and I wanted everyone to relate.
What's your inner beast like?

In his 42nd book, prolific writer and scholar Wes D. Gehring presents the well-researched and intricately crafted Kinds of American Film Comedy: Six Core Genres and Their Literary Roots. Gehring breaks down six core comedy genres in an accessible style, yet academic enough for classroom use. This time, he ties in the predecessor of comedic cinema: print humor.
Gehring states, "This study needed at least a lengthy, if compressed, opening chapter survey upon which to build. It is keyed on several important pressure points, which in their totality, provide a basic foundation for the film-focused chapters to follow." And in this chapter, he is able to succinctly introduce the foundations of U.S. comedy that underpin the genres of cinematic comedy.
Dr. Ashley Donnelly, Professor of Media at Ball State University, says, "Though knowing him as a film scholar in the truest sense, I've always considered Gehring's work to be rooted in social history. His works take the people, the genres, and the history of cinema and intertwine them with the stories of the period he's exploring, the complexities of his subjects' lives, and the events and moments in time that touched the world, leaving generational, unconscious connections between the screen and the most important moments of human history."
This groundbreaking film study begins with a survey of American print humorists from eras leading up to and overlapping the advent of film—including some who worked both on the page and on the screen, like Robert Benchley, Will Rogers, Groucho Marx and W. C. Fields. Six comic film genres are identified as outgrowths of a national tradition of Cracker Barrel philosophers, personality comedy, parody, screwball comedy, romantic comedy and dark comedy.
Gehring says, "The goal here is to place between two covers an updated in-depth look at a still too frequently neglected subject-the core comic film genres, and their integral ties to print humor. Moreover, at some level, comedy is most often about blowing "raspberries" at the world around us. And if one is at all engaged, you are a humor activist a reminder that you are not alone."

Read the slogan on Chloe Cherry from Euphoria's T-Shirt above. Now Hump Day & Chill and ponder the point.
Makes perfect sense we all like to watch thus sex is used as a selling tool for voyeurs. It's the watching not the actual sex that sells you on whatever they are giving. If sex sold in and of itself then you would be buying whatever they are selling and getting laid.
Now that we've got cleared up it's been an interesting week for me and many others I know.
So let's get to the real Hump Day & Chill and grab our collective selves an adult beverage of our choice and kick it!

I wrote this song based off what my mom told me a few days after I said I was stepping away from our church. She said she was going to step away too and then said, “If you’re going to hell, we’re all going to hell with you.” While we didn’t look at hell as many people do as Latter-day Saints at the time, and even now my transition out of religion has shifted the idea as a whole for me, I understood the sentiment she meant in what she said, and it meant a lot to me. Thank you for always loving and supporting me mom. ❤️ This song is dedicated to those who show unconditional love in a world where it’s so easy to judge things we don’t fully understand, the way my mom showed that love to me.PRE-SAVE HELL TOGETHER

Ever so often one has to remind one's self they are not the darkness and go into the light.
After the rather shall we say surreal week I had, it's jusr what I need as a mental reset.
Thus our Monday Motivation is you are the light not the darkness. It all depends on you, you have the control to make a choice on which kind of energy you bring into your life.
Believe me, I have been through some crazy negative stuff of late (trust me you don't want to know) and through it all I refused to surrender my light to bad mojo that was trying to bring me to it's level of disgusting behavior and attitude.
Thank you to my resilence and strength.
Let us move forward instead of sideways and go out there and light up the world around us. Because no one has time for that other Sh!t!

Be Fearless! Danny Torrance |
It's Sunday again and most of us are prepping for Monday throughout the course of it. It's time to fo face your fears and take the week on full force.
Bear witness to Danny Torrance and the forbidding Overlook Twins - you don't see him being intimidated now do you. Nope he's barreling at them straight on without fear.
OK, perhaps he is a little afraid, but he is not letting it get the best of him. Smart guy he is, you should never get so inside your head that you can't move forward with the tasks at hand.
So take on the new week with the conviction of a young boy living in a haunted hotel. It's a sure fire plan that will not fail you and undermine your end game.
Enjoy your Sunday as best you can, Monday will be here soon enough!!!

Eliazabeth Taylor as Pearl Slaghoople from The Flintstones feature film really captures the elation I am feeling over a Friday of all things.
I'm guessing it's been a long week is why I am feelin so excited that I just can't hide it! Not to mention I am capping the week off by having lunch with a friend in Beverly Hills. Two reason to be happy on one quite specific day.
So Minions what's on your Friday agenda???

Today Independent Project Records and David J (Bauhaus, Love and Rockets) share news of a West Coast tour in support of the recently announced triple album Tracks From the Attic on digital, CD, colored vinyl LP and Super Deluxe Box Set Art Edition formats out on May 3. Dubbed An Evening With David J, the tour begins on the album’s release day, Friday May 3, with a one-of-kind event at the Bodecker Foundation in Portland, Oregon titled Enter the Attic: an Evening with David J. This will be a tiered ticketed event featuring an interview and Q&A with David and moderator Jeffrey Clark (Shiva Burlesque/IPR), a two-part live performance (solo acoustic and full band) that will find David J performing from the bottom of the iconic Bodecker skate pool (already seen on the Stephen Colbert Show and known for its incredible acoustics and striking design), plus a screening of music videos and a private viewing of David’s original paintings, some of which are also included in the lush deluxe box set edition of Tracks From the Attic. With Tracks From the Attic, the Bauhaus and Love and Rockets co-founder invites listeners on a most fascinating journey: we’re looking through boxes of tapes, getting reacquainted with an artist we’ve known for a long time - yet, the intimate songs he recorded in solitude over three decades reveal new sides to him. Tracks From the Attic offers a unique experience that gives equal importance to the aural, the visual and the tactile. A Super Deluxe Box Set Art Edition of only 70 numbered copies is also set for release and is autographed and extremely limited. It comes in translucent natural vinyl and features a new color scheme cover, plus a limited edition David J artwork. What makes each of the Super Deluxe Art Box Sets so unique is the inclusion of actual cassettes from David’s personal home archive, the very ones that were used to compile this career-spanning archival release. Eat Your Heart Out Wednesday Addams! Emma Stone as Bella Baxter |
For those of you who have seen Poor Things it seems to be a love it or leave it proposition. I personally loved it! The one take that everyone can agree on is Emma Stone as Bella Baxter gives a unique, whole other level performance that is transcendent. She deserved that Oscar IMO.
One of the most memorable scenes is Ms. Baxter experiencing dancing for the first time. "Yes" Mark Ruffalo's character of Duncan Wedd joins her, but it is most enchanting seeing Bella give it a go fearlessly solo.
Awkward, beautiful and uninhibited her dance is an inspiration to move to the beat of your own drummer.
So today Dance Like You Are Bella Baxter!

Pleasure Is A Radical Act Michael Shinafelt |
Pleasure is a radical act. Let that sink in. In these off kilter times why is it we feel bad about making ourselves feel good?
We not only do ourselves a disservice by not doing so, we do those and the world around us dirty as well. The energy we put out into the world matters. Pleasure should not be a radical act, yet it is. Moving forward with pleasure...

I'll Have What She's Licking Sharon Stone |
I don't know what she's licking, but this photo of the one and only Sharon Stone is feeding into my vibe today. Thus this is what my Current Mood feels like today.
Now to say exactly what this means in terms of me is fair I am guessing. This being stated I believe it can be everyone's CM as you can get your own personal read from it.
To me there is a sense of rebellion and a F#ck You attitude that only Ms. Stone can uniquely capture.
Sharon recently celebrated her 66th Birthday this past Sunday and shows no signs of slowing her roll. Yet another thing about this image that inspires my CM.
Today I'm going to bend it like Sharon Stone in this photo. "Yes" internalize it and the energy shall manifest Minions!

Kudos! Emma Stone |
OK, who says the Oscars are predictable (for the most part they are) didn't have John Cena presenting Best Costume Design naked on their Bingo Card.
They also more than likely didn't have the truly deserving Emma Stone walking off with Best Actress for Poor Things on it either, so there!
Let's face facts, we all thought Oscar was going to make history and give the gold to Lily Gladstone as the first Native American Woman to be nominated for one in Killlers of the Flower Moon.
TBH (I may catch some flack for not being PC here) she did not deserve it. While her work was nomination worthy it was nowhere near the level of what Ms. Stone did with her one of a kind creation of Bella Baxter.
Surprising as it may be who deserved to win in this category actually did win much to the shock and awe of the Oscar and viewing audience.
Anyway it's Monday and aren't you happy?!

On March 12 on Vice TV's Sex Before The Internet, sexual stylist Phil Tarley will be interviewed in an episode about legendary gay porn directors. Sex Before The Internet explores a world before Pornhub and Onlyfans, analog-style! Tarley is the only fellow of the American Film Institute ever inducted into the Gay Porn Hall of Fame as producer-director Phil St. John, his nom de porn. "I’ve directed hundreds of men having sex, choreographing them for moving cameras, like a pas deux or pas de trois. " In Below The Belt (1986), starring Chad Douglas, St.John staged the first double penetration ever photographed in gay porn. DP's went on to be adapted into the sexual practice and fantasy life of almost every gay man in America. Double penetration became St. John's leitmotif culminating in his "gay porn Oscar" for Double Delights.
In the early 90s, the times swirled with currents of unique queer cultural and political change. Tarley grabbed his camera and traveled around the country, documenting the queerest subcultures he could find. He used that footage to make, The Year of The Queer, which debuted at the American Film Institute Film Festival in 1992. Tarley is currently editing a feature-length political and cultural documentary of those wild times of earthshaking queer changes in our society. Somewhat of a revolutionary, Tarley/St. John has been an in-your-face- take no prisoners-- street activist his entire life. He's been on the frontlines shooting video, performing in guerilla theater, rioting, protesting, being arrested and jailed in actions with ACTUP, Queer Nation, The Gay Liberation Front, Students For a Democratic Society (SDS), and back in the day, The Cockettes and The Angels of Light, when Tarley was dragged-up and drugged up enough to get on stage.
"For me, politics, sex, travel, and adventure continue to be inseparable. Perhaps the wildest porn-making experience of my life was when I was in Puerto Rico shooting two tropical dick movies back-to-back in the jungles near San Juan. I couldn’t wait to write it up as a story. I feel that now, the times are right to take my “novella” Diary of A Puerto Rican Porno and make it into a feature film. "
March 23 & March 24: New Orleans
Phil Tarley will be reading from his porno diary and from his just-completed autobiography at the Tennessee Williams, Saints, and Sinners Literary Festival at The Hotel Monteleone, in the Royal Dee Room, on March 23 at 10 AM and on March 24 at 1 PM.
Saints and Sinners, a program of the Tennessee Williams & New Orleans Literary Festival, features LGBTQ+ writers, publishers, small presses, booksellers, promoters, and other literary professionals creating a community and network for the LGBTQ+ literary world.
Tarley/St. John is available for on-camera, phone, or print interviews. Contact him via email.
