Turn Back Time, With Cher

Turn Back Time,
Please Cher
Tomorrow daylight savings time ends. Yeah, I know, don't you hate that? This year instead of riding on a bummer about it, I decided to make it a fun little party of sorts.

How you may ask? How about we turn back time with ten quotes from Singer/Academy Award winning actress of the song about past regret, Cher!

Isn't this much more entertaining than being annoyed with it like most of us usually are?

Happy Saturday before the end of time!

Until you're ready to look foolish, you'll never have the possibility of being great.

Hate crimes are the scariest thing in the world because these people really believe what they're doing is right.

I've always taken risks, and never worried what the world might really think of me.

I am never offended when I see the drag-queens dressed up like me.

The trouble with some women is that they get all excited about nothing - and then marry him.

If you're black in this country, if you're a woman in this country, if you are any minority in this country at all, what could possibly possess you to vote Republican?

Anyone who's a great kisser I'm always interested in.

I keep coming back because I have no place else to go. What else would I do? I love to sing.

People are negative no matter what you do.

I'm amusing and crazy on Twitter. I talk about important things, stupid things.

Cyndi Lauper & Friends

Let's get charitable...

Cyndi Lauper’s True Colors Fund (www.truecolorsfund.org) announced the lineup for its 6th annual “Cyndi Lauper & Friends: Home for the Holidays” benefit concert on Saturday, December 3 at New York City’s historic Beacon Theatre to raise awareness about lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) youth homelessness. 100 percent of the net proceeds from the concert will support the True Colors Fund’s programs.

Cyndi Lauper will be joined on stage this year by Aloe Blacc, Ballets with a Twist, Big Thief, Billy Corgan, Grace VanderWaal, Judy Gold, Kate Bornstein, Maya Jupiter, Oxymorrons, Sara Ramirez, Sharon Van Etten, Theresa Caputo, Tyler Glenn, and host Carson Kressley. Additional guests will be announced soon. Tickets are available to the general public at Ticketmaster.com.

“For the sixth year, ‘Home for the Holidays’ will bring together an incredible group of performers to support the True Colors Fund’s work to end homelessness among lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender youth," said Lauper, the organization’s co-founder. “Our voices are stronger when we say something together. I’m so grateful to the artists, who are donating their time and talent to bring attention to this very important cause.”

In America, up to 40 percent of the 1.6 million youth that are homeless each year identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender. Yet, less than seven percent of the general youth population is LGBT. The most cited reason for this disproportionate rate is family rejection due to the young person’s sexual orientation or gender identity.

Co-founded by Cyndi Lauper, the True Colors Fund works nationally to end homelessness among lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender youth. Through a broad continuum of public engagement, public policy, youth collaboration, research, and community organizing programs, the True Colors Fund is creating a world in which young people can be their true selves.

Some highlights of the True Colors Fund’s work this year include:

  • Hosting the second annual #40toNoneDay, a national day to raise awareness about LGBT youth homelessness, which reached over 98 million people online.
  • Partnering with The White House to conduct a Policy Briefing on Youth Homelessness to help prioritize the needs of youth experiencing homelessness within the Federal Government.
  • Launching the National Youth Forum on Homelessness, a youth-led project focused on ending youth homelessness in America, in partnership with the National Alliance to End Homelessness.
  • Releasing At the Intersections, the most comprehensive resource on LGBT youth homelessness, in partnership with the National LGBTQ Task Force.
  • Holding the third annual sold out 40 to None Summit, the only national annual gathering focused on innovative solutions to end LGBT youth homelessness in America.
  • Training it's second class of True Fellows, young LGBT leaders with experiences of homelessness, who conduct six-month service projects in their communities.
  • Releasing its second annual 40 of the 40 list, which highlights 40 LGBT young people who have experiences with homelessness and provides them with opportunities to engage in the organization’s work.
  • Providing free tools, resources, and training through its 40 to None Network for service providers and communities around the country to aid them in providing safe, inclusive, and welcoming support to LGBT youth experiencing homelessness.

“Home for the Holidays” is proud to have the support of: Platinum Sponsors Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP and Van Gogh Vodka; Gold Sponsors The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. and Jujamcyn Theaters; Silver Sponsors Kinky Boots, The Madison Square Garden Company, Masie Productions, Reveal, Stifel, and Keith Bell, Licensed Acupuncturist.

Michael's Musings

It's Better With A Leather Jacket
Michael Shinafelt
As everyone knows this past Monday was Halloween. I attended the West Hollywood Halloween Carnival and had a blast!

Too bad it's over, time to move on, here are my latest thoughts and opinions...

E-mails, E-mails, E-mails are the new Marsha, Marsha, Marsha

Random Rumblings, a man yelled out: "I won the wet T-shirt contest, motherf#ckers!" the other day while I was walking down the street. You go boy, follow that dream!

Personally I love Lady Gaga's latest Joanne. There I said it.

I can't wait to see who the sole survivor is on this seasons American Horror Story.

Scariest thing this past Halloween? I kept getting notifications via Facebook on my phone about who from my friends list was in West Hollywood at the carnival too!!!

Who'd you rather, Jon Hamm or Matt Bomer?

I have a psychic prediction. All of you have semen in your family.

New season of Vanderpump Rules starts Monday. I have no rational or intelligent explanation as to why I like this show. Discuss.

My bad, I was trying to sacrifice you to Satan.

I could have lived my whole life without hearing "I Will Always Love You" karaoke style. Ugh!

I recently joined Instagram, follow me there or on Twitter. Do what your Rice Krispies tell you to damn it!

It's A Wrap: Pretty Little Liars

So Long, Farewell...
Shay Mitchell
After 7 years the party will be over when Pretty Little Liars premieres it's last and final season in April 2017.

The show recently wrapped production on said season and actress Shay Mitchell, who portrays Emily Fields, poured her heart out in a farewell video. Describing her experience on the show as the best seven years of her life

Big girls don't cry, Shay. I am so kidding. As a PLL fan I am going to be sorry to see the show go, yet I feel like the time has come for it to end while it is still on top and not being dragged into the ground.

What will I miss most? The characters, the sharp writing & good acting that truly elevated "popcorn" entertainment to a level that was actually relevant.

The "Liars" will be greatly missed when PLL reaches it's finale episode. For Ms. Mitchell that has already happened. Pretty Little Liars fans, like me, check out her heartfelt goodbye below.

OMG! It's November 1st...!!!

When Michael Met Michael
Photo:
Scott Jacobs
So here I am typing this morning after straggling in around 12:30 am last night from the West Hollywood Halloween Carnival. Was it fun you ask? Well I did get to meet my horror idol icon Michael Myers, and get strangled by him as you can see. So what more could a horror geek ask???

My friends Scott, Kent and I came, we saw, we made scary, not merry, yeah now that crap starts and it's still over a month away.

Personally, and I know I say this every year, but it really applies to this one in partick, I can't believe we have hit November and then December and the year is over!

Enjoy your first day of the new month, baby it's starting to get cooler outside, hey I live in Los Angeles, cold would be an oxymoron.

The Horror: John Carpenter's Halloween

Happy Halloween Peeps! Hope all of you have something groovy planned to celebrate the coolest day of the year!

I personally love Halloween and am a huge horror movie fan, and those of you who know me, or have been paying attention, you know my favorite horror film of all time is John Carpenter's Halloween.

When it came out I was too young to attend an R-rated film by myself, so my Dad took me and some friends. It the first of many horror flicks I would go on to see in a theater.

Can I tell you? This is the only movie of it's type that truly got under my skin and scared the shit outta me! We lived in the suburbs at the time and were surrounded by lots of trees and land and when my parents were gone and I was home alone I used to psyche myself out and see Michael Myer's ghoulish white William Shatner ass mask looming for me in the dark. Yeah, I had a really vivid imagination, still do actually.

So how else did you think I was going to celebrate this most holy of days here on Entertain Me? With a montage of images from the film that freaked me out the most, naturally. To this day even though I am less afraid while watching Halloween, there is still something about it that really unnerves me. Beware of the Boogeyman tonight!!!

Saturday Sinema: The Initiation

Since it's the season of the witch, shall we continue our horror countdown until Halloween? I thought you would concur, here we go with gore, gore, gore!

THE INITIATION [Blu-ray(11/8)
HERE'S TO BEING YOUNG... STAYING YOUNG... AND DYING YOUNG.

Marking TV star Daphne Zuniga's debut in a leading role, The Initiation ranks amongst the finest of the college-based stalk-and-slash flicks - now finally restored in glorious High-Definition!

Kelly's new sorority has a special initiation ritual in store for her - an after-hours break-in of her father's department store. But what begins as a night of harmless college fun turns sour when, once inside the enormous mall, Kelly and her fellow pledges find themselves locked in for the night... with a deadly intruder stalking the corridors.

Arriving in 1984, The Initiation might have been late to the slasher party, but, alongside the likes of The House on Sorority Row and The Mutilator, it remains one of the stronger entries to emerge in the latter days of the slice-and-dice boom.

    The Horror: M.E. Franco

Serving Jack Skellington's Head On A Plate
    Author M.E. Franco
It's that time of the year peeps when I do my annual Halloween chat with my fellow vampire, author & horror fan M.E. Franco.

M.E. is best known as the writer behind the series of popular supernatural novels called the Dion Series, consisting of the titles: Where Will You Run?, Where Will You Hide? and Where Will You Turn?
Time to take a journey into the twisted mind of M.E. You have been warned...!

MS: What's your favorite horror related erotic fantasy?
ME: Definitely The Hunger. I'm also a fan of the Dracula movie with Frank Langella...very hot!
MS: There is currently a clown scare going on across the United States care to weigh in?
ME: That's just wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong.

MS: Freddy Kruger offers you a helping hand Pinhead offers you needlepoint, which do you choose?
ME: Pinhead is much more fun.

MS: Is "Release the Kraken" a euphemism? ME: It is for me. Heehee

MS: You want to hide "Where Will You Run?"
ME: Well, not the closet, or the basement, or the abandoned house, or the hospital, or the remote cabin, or the cemetery, or the parking garage, or the barn, or the cornfield, or the summer camp, or the farm house...

MS: What monster would you put in the corner with "Baby" from Dirty Dancing?
ME: A succubus...that girl could feed a whole colony of them.

MS: Pick a succubus, the Larmia from Drag Me To Hell or Donald Trump.
ME: The succubus isn't as creepy and the Larmia has better social skills
MS: Someone's knocking at your door at 10 pm with a hockey mask on, what do you do?

ME: Tell him the teenagers are next door.
MS: Have you ever seen anything that alarmed you on the wing of a plane during a flight?
ME: HA! Every time I fly, I use my best Shatner voice and say "Theeeeere's somethingontheplane." I won't ever look though. I don't want to know.
MS: You could have dinner with any five horrific figures, living, dead, fictional or non- fictional who would they be?
ME: Dracula of course (preferably Gerard Butler from Dracula 2000, yum); Pinhead (because he knows how to party), Leatherface (to carve the meat); Jigsaw (for party games); and Hannibal Lecter for his impeccable cooking and knowledge of fine wine.

    Michael's Musings

    Horny For Halloween
    Michael Shinafelt
This week is a special edition of my column. In case you haven't figured out that means my focus will be on Halloween this coming Monday, then I have no response to that.

Time to let loose the devil inside!

Did you know there is a line of Halloween costumes out based on the raunchy R-rated movie Sausage Party? You too can dress as a douche and offer yourself and your services up as a treat,

I am the terror that flaps in the night. That is all.

Heidi Klum always rocks the best costumes. Can't wait to see what she comes up with this year.

No tears please, it’s a waste of good suffering.” - Pinhead, Hellraiser

How about that clown scare this year?

Someone decided to make Hollywood Great again and smash Donald Trump's star on the Walk of Fame with a sledgehammer the day of Hillary Clinton's Birthday. What a nice Halloween treat, and Happy Birthday Madam President!

If I were a witch, I would cast spells, kill people and stuff...

"Nothing Human Loves Forever" - tag line for my favorite vampire film, The Hunger

Let's crack open a bottle of wine and Ouija.

My all time favorite horror film is John Carpenter's Halloween. Only scary movie that ever really got under my skin, and, well scared the fuck outta me!

This Halloween I plan on attending the West Hollywood Halloween Carnival. The amount of alcohol consumed there both scares and impresses me.

An Exclusive Quickie With "The Pretty Reckless"

Their Here, They're Reckless, Get Used To It!
    Photo: Rob Fenn
It's been a big week for The Pretty Reckless. Their album Who You Selling For came out this past Friday. The first single off of it Take Me Down is the #1 song on the Billboard Rock Chart this week! Making four number ones for the band in a row! Woot

Frontwoman Taylor Momsen & Guitarist Ben Phillips took time out from their crazy schedule to answer five "quickie" questions for Entertain Me. Get ready to go "Reckless!"
MS: "Who You Selling For" definitely encompasses a lot of soul blues & rock-n-roll.  Was that an organic direction or a chosen one for the two of you?

TPR: It's always organic.  We don't have any pre conceived notions for the music.  The inspiration of songwriting dictates the direction.  We are slaves to the muse.

MS: You guys co-write all the songs. Give some insight to your writing process.

TPR: It's everything and nothing.  We basically isolate ourselves and live life looking for anything that inspires us.  Writing is an all consuming mistress, it's our favorite thing to do

    I'm With The Band
    Photo: Andrew Lipovsky
MS: Do you ever write solo or is it always a collaborative process?

TPR: Sometimes ideas come together, sometimes we bring them to each other, there is no set method to the madness

MS: Why the name The Pretty Reckless?

TPR: Because The Moderately Reckless was taken ;)

MS: If you were stranded in the forest with only three albums to listen to what would you choose?

TPR: The White Album, Abbey Road and Revolver/Rubber Soul by The Beatles.

    The Horror: The Hunger

    Catherine Deneuve & David Bowie

When I was sixteen it was a very good year. I landed my first job as a teenager ever, and it was my teen dream job. What was it? Working in a movie theater of course!

It was also the year, what would become my favorite vampire film ever came out, The Hunger. Since I worked there I got to see it for free, and that I did, five times!

Visually and conceptually it was stunning with graphic sexuality and vampire blood letting. Catherine Deneuve was born to play the ultimate ice queen vamp, Miriam Blaylock. David Bowie was the perfect compliment are her rapidly deteriorating decades old lover John Blaylock. Then there's Susan Sarandon as Dr. Sarah Roberts who thinks death is a disease that can be cured, little does she know....

With it's bold bi-sexuality, exploration of life & death and perfectly cast actors, this is one vampire fest blood sucking freaks should not miss!

Only 6,6,6 more days until Halloween

    Nasty Woman: Katy Perry

    Team Nasty!
    Katy Perry & Friends
Yes, Donald Trump, Katy Perry is too a "Nasty Woman." So much so that she hit the the campus of the University Of Las Vegas in support of Hillary "Ms. Clinton" if your nasty to rally the masses for early voting.

How dirty of her. Katy also showed how fully she supported Clinton by declaring herself nasty by wearing a T-Shirt with a giant red heart with the words "Nasty Woman" in it. Yep, nasty love is all the rage right now. My suspicion is we are going to get four years of it come November 8th.

Personally I'm sold! I'll gladly take it over the pussy grabbing American Racist any day.

Happy Monday and only one more week until Halloween!!!

    What Makes U "Say Yes"

Look Into My Eyes & "Say Yes"
    Jason Walker
Jason Walker & Tony Moran are "So Happy" to "Say Yes" to #1!!!

Two-time Grammy nominated dance producer Tony Moran and Out Music Award winner Jason Walker are following up “So Happy”, their #1 Billboard hit from this summer, with a celebratory new track for fall, “Say Yes”. Written by Tony Moran and Mike Greenly, the hard-pounding single features another awe-inspiring vocal performance by Jason Walker, along with a superstar collection of remixes and a thrilling new music video by Karl Giant. “Say Yes” is available now on iTunes via http://www.mrtanmanmusic.com.

“Tony Moran approached me about doing another track right after we finished recording ‘So Happy’, our song that would climb all the way to #1,” recalls Jason Walker from his New York home. “What else could I do but ‘Say Yes’?”

“Mike and I were inspired to write the song from all the wedding ceremonies we’ve each been attending since the supreme court legalized same-sex marriage,” explains Tony Moran. “It’s made us reflect on the power of saying yes and how that simple three letter word can move mountains, promote progress and change life as we know it.”

“I asked Jason to record the single for us because that magical voice of his exudes power. He’s an incredible talent and someone that I truly believe represents the future of music.”

Moran and Walker re-enlisted videographer Karl Giant, the director of the “So Happy” video to helm "Say Yes" - check it out after the jump!
