Red, Red Wine - That Is All...

For The Many is the Birmingham reggae veterans' nineteenth studio album - their first since 2013's Getting Over The Storm. It features UB40's founding members Robin Campbell (co-vocals/Guitar), Brian Travers (saxophone/keyboards), Jimmy Brown (drums), Earl Falconer (bass/keyboards/vocals) and Norman Hassan (percussion/vocals), alongside long-time members Duncan Campbell (vocals), Martin Meredith (saxophone), Laurence Parry (trumpet) and Tony Mullings (keyboards).

Formed in Birmingham in 1978, UB40 named themselves after the UK government's unemployment benefit form. Their debut album Signing Off was released in August 1980 and is considered by many to be one of the greatest reggae albums ever released by a British band.

It was the start of a career that led to 100 million record sales worldwide and dozens of hits, including "Red, Red Wine," "I Got You Babe" and "(I Can't Help) Falling in Love with You" which all topped the charts in the UK and in many countries across Europe. The band had a run of hit albums that have spent a combined period of eleven years in the UK's Top 75 album chart, establishing UB40 as one of Britain's most successful bands of all-time.
UB40
Jimmy Brown said, "For The Many is our first original album with Duncan, and a true reflection of where the band are at right now. It gave us an opportunity to go back to our roots and draw on the 1970s-style reggae that inspired us to be in a band in the first place. We intended to make an uncompromising reggae album and I think we have achieved that. There's lots of dub, various guest toasters and a blend of love songs and political songs. I'm really happy with the final result. We're really looking forward to playing some of these tunes live on our 40th anniversary tour in spring next year."

Duncan Campbell said, "After ten years of fronting UB40, for us to make an album of our own original material feels like the final hurdle for me. The album and its title reflect how UB40 are all in support of Jeremy Corbyn and The Labour Party. Both of the songs I have written on the album (I'm Alright Jack and Poor Fool) also reflect this. We all feel this album is going back to what UB40 was all about and we are all excited for everybody to hear the album and looking forward to touring it."

Robin Campbell added, "For The Many" is a great mix of reggae styles, while the different artists we have collaborated with will appeal to more fans and tastes in reggae - it really is an album for the many. The 2019 UK tour is a continuation of our 40th year celebrations, as well as sharing tracks from our latest album. We're playing all over the UK instead of a few arenas dates, meaning our fans from all over the UK can get to see us much more locally and up close - truly a tour for the many."

Monday Motivation

Going To The Dogs
KJ Apa
Happy Presidents Day! I know some of you will take this as an opportunity to Trump bash. Please don't, this is a celebration of the others that came before him. On that note let's dive into today's Monday Motivation...Today's MM is brought to you by volunteering.

"Yep" volunteer work is something we are all capable of and should do. I have in the past and really need to get off my booty and do it again. Thus I am using this post to give myself, as well as you all a push in the right direction.

What better way to motivate you than this photo of two adorable things Riverdale's KJ Apa volunteering with the ASPCA at Wallis Annenberg PetSpace in Los Angeles

Too cute, and so is the dog. Normally I am not into younger guys but there is something about KJ that "pops" to me. There is also a cute dog, see how good I am at motivating you minions? I got this too sweet photo and two cuties to make you rise to the occasion. Damn, I'm good!

Take whatever it is you feel passionate about, whether it be animals, or??? Go out find someplace that you can be of service to your passion. Volunteering, it's that simple and doesn't cost you a thing.

Now get out there and Monday

Just Because...RHONY Season 11 Taglines

Absolutely Fabulous
The Real Housewives of New York City
With season 11 of The Real Housewives of New York City approaching on Wednesday March 6 on Bravo I thought I would get silly on Sunday. (say that three times fast)

The new opening taglines have been revealed. Normally I would not post about such nonsense, but there is one in particular I LOVE!!! However to play fair I will post them all and save the best for last.

Here we go...

Luann de Lesseps: "I plead guilty…to being fabulous."

Ramona Singer: "The only thing I'll settle for is more."

Tinsley Mortimer: "Game, set, now, I need a match."

Bethenny Frankel: "When life gives me limes, I make margaritas."

Dorinda Medley: "If you've got a problem with me, it's your problem!"

And my favorite goes to, drum roll please...Sonja Morgan

Sonja Morgan: "People call me over the top, but lately I prefer being a bottom."

Leave it to Sonja to make a gay joke, and an astute one at that. Say what you will about her, but she's fearless!

Nostalgia's For Geeks

Edward vs Courtney
Edward Norton & Courtney Love
Memory is a powerful thing. It can trigger many emotions, and all of them are fine. I was brought back to a time I remember fondly today, the 90's - it was a Golden Era, for me at least. Movies were great and I actually wanted to see them. Music rocked and I actually wanted to listen to it.

So imagine my my 90's pop culture shock and awe when Courtney Love (yes, I was a big Hole fan. OK insert a dirty joke if you must) and Edward Norton, the it boy of that time. Who starred together in one of the better films of the 90's The People vs Larry Flynt became a couple. Imagine it at the time, do it and do it now!!!

"Yep" I was in a whole lotta 90's fantasia! The Grunge Queen of the 90's paired up with the Actor of the time, damn it does not get any better then this!

I miss that time in my life, in a nostalgic sort of way. But I am at my personal best right here, right now.

OK, time to be present and carry on minions, but always be, be, be nostalgic!

"Solo"

Did you spend Valentine's Day "Solo?"

TINA DECARA RELEASES ANTHEM ON THE POWER OF BEING ALONE: “SOLO”

Pop singer Tina DeCara follows-up her smash single “Illusion” — its had over one million Spotify streams — with “Solo,” a song about loving yourself when you’re at your loneliest.  “I’ve been solo for a while and though most days, I’m cool with not having a special someone to kick it with, there are times my mood swings so low,” admits Tina. It was during one of these down periods that she wrote her new single.   “I sat with a bottle of wine and had a little pity party in my music journal,” she remembers.  But oddly, what emerged wasn’t a sad song about being lonely, but a celebration of self-love and embracing time spent alone.  Tina DeCara’s “Solo” is being released through Big Management and is available for purchase on iTunes, Amazon, and all other major retailers, as well as for streaming through Pandora and Spotify.  Its video is on Youtube.

“My message for anyone struggling to make it through another day is to take a moment to breath and relax.  Don’t try to solve your problems all at once.  Tackle issues one at a time and give yourself a moment to rest in between so you are strong enough for the next battle.”

DeCara admits she often struggles with sad feelings.  “Pursuing pop star dreams is hard.  One day, I’m on top of the world and the next I’m back at square one.  It gets lonely being in the big city, away from home and everyone that I love.”

When she’s feeling isolated, she listens to records, and the day DeCara wrote the song that would become “Solo,” she had been sent a new instrumental produced by The Drupes.    “It was pretty popish, with a bop your head around and dance to it happy kinda vibe,” she explains. “But somehow my melancholy lyrics worked  well with it.”

She went to a studio in Queens and recorded the single in about two hours. “It was a great session.  The energy was high.”

Tina DeCara grew up on Long Island with her parents and two brothers. She began singing and songwriting in high school, drawing inspiration from the likes of David Bowie, Lady Gaga, and Amy Winehouse.  While her friends were not supportive of her superstar dreams, her family encouraged her to follow her passion.

“I was surprised by all the negativity I received from kids I had chosen to have in my life.   I quickly cut them out.”

She says one of the biggest challenges as an artist is finding yourself and learning what your voice is capable of.   “I write about how I’m feeling and then I put some unexpected twist on it,” she explains.  “It’s an incredibly personal process so I try not to focus on what is going on outside my bubble.”

The music video for “Solo” echoes these sentiments.  Directed by David Wept and shot in and around Coney Island, the video depicts Tina DeCara celebrating the one person who matters most in her life.

“Though I’m solo, for the most part, I’m always giggling.  I work hard, I’m determined and if I have a little unhealthy obsession over buying wigs, what’s it to you? Until I’m a duo, I’m just goin’ to do me.”
