Saturday Sinema: Omerta: The Act Of Silence

Omerta: The Act of Silence

New film takes a detailed look inside organized crime in Brooklyn

Coming to DVD and digital platforms on June 8th

Set in the iconic Italian neighborhood of Bensonhurst, Omerta: The Act of Silence is a peek inside the operation of the Mafia, at a time when the organization had a firm grip on day-to-day living in the area. The word Omerta describes a code of silence about criminal activity and a refusal to give evidence to authorities.

This is the story of 18-year-old Reno who is given a taste of power when he joins the Mob’s system of endearment and enforcement. The neighborhood is kept safe and businesses flourish. But the methods are ruthless and ultimately self-destructive.

Reno quickly learns that pledging his life to the organization is nothing more than becoming a pawn in a deadly game of street chess. As the neighborhood changes and those who have pledged themselves to the crime syndicate move away, Reno is forced to confront the fact that the oaths of loyalty and devotion to one another are nothing but false promises and misplaced trust.

He is forced to confront himself and concludes that he must change his ways. With no friends or family for support, he turns to the local parish priest and confesses his sins as he takes the first steps toward personal renewal. He confesses his sins to the priest. As he reflects on his past, he takes the viewer on a journey through the crimes he has committed and the friends he has lost.

Filmmaker Craig Syracusa, founder of God’s Plan Productions, says, “I made the film to show the power of redemption and forgiveness and that God will meet you where you are and that we are all sinners and through the power of confession we are forgiven. This film is for people who need to build a relationship with Christ but are afraid that God will not forgive them.”

Omerta stars veteran Hollywood actor Joe Estevez and introduces Paulie Malignaggi, the former professional boxer who held the IBF junior welterweight and the WBA welterweight titles.

The cast also includes: Joseph D’ Onofrio, Carmen Argenziano, Cara Castronuova, Adam Nelson, Will Wallace, Gaetano Iacono, and Ceazar Reyes.

Talk To The Hand...

Handy
Natalie Portman

T.G.I.F! It's time for a jazz hand, or perhaps it's Thing from the Addams Family? Maybe, just maybe we all are supposed to be Born To Hand Jive?

Whatever the case it seems to me Natalie Portman, is handy? Perhaps handsome? Or something...

Ever so often life gets curiouser and curiouser - "Yes" what I am trying to say is this is some straight outta Alice in Wonderland sh!t!

Honestly, this is one funky photo.

File it under: Who thought this was a good idea??? (it wasn't, but damn it is fodder for the mind)

"Remember the love...(Sing out, give out, measure your life In looooooove...!)" - Seasons of Love, Rent

In case you weren't aware it's Pride Month. "Yes" Minions it's one of the seasons of love. Pride Month is to commemorate the Stonewall riots, which occurred at the end of June 1969. As a result, many pride events are held during this month to recognize the impact LGBT people have had in the world.

It is also about unity, equality and as mentioned before, love. When in doubt that is my go to place, I hope today finds you all in a groovy mood, I know I'm in one 😎

Taylor Swift is a force of nature. She broke the record for vinyl sales last week!!!

Be yourself, who else is better qualified? I ask you?

A shirtless Christopher Meloni doing push-ups opened last weeks episode of Organized Crime. That's it, this is all I need to say.

Nostalgia is a lying bitch, she will convince a time in your life was amazing when it was actually awful. live in the present Minions

Come outside, no one is going to jump you

Finally saw Parasite, it actually lived up to the hype

Let’s maybe consider just blocking the people with horrible takes today as opposed to quote tweeting them into your already weary friends’ timelines. RE: Seasons of Love

Happy Pride Month!

Express Yourself
Cara Delevigne

It's June the first Minions, and as per usual the month of June is Pride Month. I thought we should kick off the month with a roar. That noise belonging to one Ms. Cara Delevigne

Cara recently gave an interview to one of my favorite magazines, Paper and they asked the question of her "Starting off, what does Pride mean to you?"

Her answer was so great that I thought it was to perfect way to christen Pride Month right here, right now. "Yes" here it is...

"I think Pride, for me, is accepting wherever I am that day. As in, I am proud to be wherever I feel in that moment. Growing up, I didn't feel a lot of pride at all – I was quite scared. I was fearful. I was in hiding. I think many people in the community know what it's like to have to hide part of yourself. So to be proud is to really be able to feel free to shout from the rooftop, 'This is who I am, take it or leave it. I love myself.' And there is nothing anyone can do about it. I think that's truly inspirational and truly something I wish I had as a teenager, but how inspired I am by people and teenagers and young people who can do that"

Preach!

Monday Motivation

Downward Gaga
Lady Gaga

It's Memorial Day and I  am getting myself ready and focused for the week ahead, thus it's time for some good old fashioned Monday Motivation in the form of yoga.

Here we see Lady Gaga striking a yoga pose, me?! I will be striking my pose adjacent to the Douglas Fairbanks Memorial in the Hollywood Forever Cemetery this ayem.

"Yes" that's correct Minions Hollywood Forever has been having yoga there for a majority of the Pandemic and it is real and spectacular. Not to mention quiet and I have yet to see any dead people, just their markers.

So gird your loins and get all downward dog with me, won't you? Or perhaps take a hike.

Yoga is my jam and exactly the Monday Motivation I need to clear my head and make me chill for the week ahead.

What's on your  agenda?

Just Because...John Krasinski Day!

Smiles Everyone, Smiles...
John Krasinski

Just Because it's Memorial Day Weekend, Just Because A Quiet Place Part II opened to rave reviews & Just Because he's so darned cute, it's John Krasinski Day!

Look at John all smiles (adorbs) at a screening of A Quiet Place Part II in Los Angeles. As well he should be. The second installment has gotten stellar reviews for it's Writer/Director/Star it's earned a 91% on Rotten Tomatoes! "Yes" imagine that, a sequel that is actually good and adds to it's predecessor Hmmmmmmm...

On top of that, it's a shoo in to be the number one grossing movie over the Memorial Day Weekend.

Thus I hereby decree May 30, 2021 John Krasinksi Day! Hey he's earned it, oh, and also he's just so darned cute 😉
