The Late Show: Darlene Love's Last Stand

Darlene Love Is Amazing!
Tune in tonight everyone, it's my friend and awesome person, Darlene Love's last stand on The Late Show with David Letterman singing Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) -

I had the extreme pleasure of interviewing Ms. Love about her Concert Of Love for Chorus and Verse, jump to that here:

http://www.chorusandverse.com/content.php?id=20101110a

This was when she was nominated and eventually claimed her spot in the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame.

She states: "When I am singing it I am telling everyone to go back home to their loved ones"

The song has now become a Christmas staple sung by the likes of Mariah Carey and Michael Buble'.

Love you Darlene! (no pun intended) I will be tuning in tonight!

'Tis The Season For Queen Latifah

Queen Latifah Rulz!
I have always loved Queen Latifah! When I first saw her in Set It Off I was a fan!
She has always brought something unique and interesting to every film she has graced. Not to mention she is one bad ass singer!
The news that her talk show has been cancelled is sad indeed. This being stated Ms. Latifah proves why she has the title of Queen.
Although the cancelled talk show will still run through March, since it has been given the boot the crew is no longer necessary. The Queen is using her own money to pay the show's crew through the Holidays.
"Your Family, Partners, Staff and Crew showed up with you every step of the way. Be very proud of that! Not everyone can say the same," the message continued. "You can also say you have been a blessing to and been blessed by amazing guests and incredible audiences for this show. We truly changed people's lives for the better. So…stay positive, stay strong, and most important, stay open...There is so much more God has in store!"
The Queen concluded with: "This letter is for me, my staff, my crew, and everyone who was by my side for this incredible journey," she wrote. "The most important thing in life is that you wake up every single day and take chances. No matter what the outcome…believe in yourself and continue to fly."
What's up next? Queen Latifah is getting great buzz for her portrayal of legendary blues singer Bessie Smith in HBO's upcoming Bessie. I can't wait!
Long live the Queen!

Dolly Parton Goes Platinum

Dolly Parton: My Hair Isn't The Only Platinum Thing
DOLLY PARTON SCORES UK PLATINUM ALBUM
WITH BIGGEST SALES FROM AN INTERNATIONAL FEMALE IN 2014

OMG! To all you Dolly lovers out there this will come as no surprise. Actually this is quite the achievement in this time and place for any artist, the Dolly train is never going to run out of steam!

As 2014 draws to a close, Dolly Parton is far from resting on her laurels, and shows no signs of slowing down. The songstress continues to make history, with a record-setting tour overseas, and also raises the bar from a sales standpoint with yet another platinum selling album in a career that has already seen worldwide sales of over one hundred million records, and shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon.

"I was so happy when Blue Smoke went Silver, so excited when it went Gold and now I'm over the moon to hear that we have gone Platinum,” says Parton. “Thanks to the fans and to everybody who made this happen."

Once again, the Country Music Hall of Fame member proved her timeless quality as a recording artist once again with the Platinum-selling success of her CD Blue Smoke....The Best Of, a collection that includes her most recent studio album as well as a compilation that includes many of her most memorable hits, such as “Love Is Like A Butterfly,”  “Here You Come Again,” and her biggest hit as a solo artist, 1980’s “9 To 5.” But, Dolly’s success with the album was not entirely tied to those past glories. Blue Smoke....The Best Of earned a pair of Top-30 airplay hits for Parton in the UK with ‘Try” and “Home,” as well as her cover of Bon Jovi’s “Lay Your Hands On Me” and the title cut, which also made the Top-40 airplay.

Parton’s success overseas continued with a recent nomination for International Artist of the Year at the BBC Music Awards 2014. The nomination capped off a year in which Parton – after five decades in the business – scored one of her biggest and most heralded performances ever.

"Dolly Parton has been making great music for decades, and the Blue Smoke album sits right among her best recorded work. We at Masterworks are honored to be working with one of our industry's biggest icons, and happily congratulate Dolly, her label Dolly Records, as well as our partners at Sony Music UK, on this great achievement,” says Bogdan Roscic, President of Sony Music Masterworks

The success of Blue Smoke...The Best Of gives Parton the distinction of having the biggest album from an International female so far this year.

coming February 10th

"The Hardcore show for DEVO was like relocating a tail you misplaced a lifetime ago."
Mark Mothersbaugh

Are they not men? Nope, I guess they're Devo! You get one guess as to where I will be January 17th 2015...

LA screening event with Mark Mothersbaugh, Gerald V. Casale & Bob Mothersbaugh, Director Keirda Bahruth and Producer Rick Ballard

Saturday, January 17 - 7:30 PM
6712 Hollywood Boulevard
Hollywood, CA 90028 Map

Watch ROLLING STONE premiere "Uncontrollable Urge" HERE

DEVO was among the most thought-provoking bands to emerge in the aftermath of punk, but before hits like "Whip It," they worked in the basements and garages of Akron, Ohio to make raw, unfiltered music that the group called "Hardcore DEVO."

In the summer of 2014, DEVO did ten shows performing these seminal pre-fame songs, created between 1974 and 1977 and rarely played since then. Shot at the Fox Theater in Oakland, California, this exciting concert film captures these groundbreaking artists performing the songs that started it all, interwoven with interviews revealing the history of the band. In total, these 21 oddities serve as a tribute to departed, original DEVO bandmate, Robert "Bob 2" Casale.

A special screening event will be held on Saturday, January 17th at 7:30 PM at the Egyptian Theatre (6712 Hollywood Boulevard - Hollywood, CA 90028). A discussion with director Keirda Bahruth, coproducer Rick Ballard, and DEVO members Mark Mothersbaugh, Gerald V. Casale, and Bob Mothersbaugh will follow.

Awwwwwwwww: Emma Stone & David Letterman

Aren't They Cute? Emma Stone & David Letterman
Claiming to have only recently learned the word "selfie" Emma Stone stopped by The Late Show for some Holiday cheer and posed for a few with  host David Letterman.

The results are too cute! They look adorable hamming it up for the camera on Dave's phone.

Also DL's medical explanations for his and Stone's appearances in the images are spot on.

Looks like you guys are having a blast! Enjoy the merriment below:

Ho, Ho, Ho Merry "Club Christmas"

Following the smash releases of Club Christmas, Club Christmas 2, Club Christmas 3 and Ultimate Club Christmas, D1 Music presents the final album in the collection, Club Christmas Greatest Hits. Club Christmas Greatest Hits features the most popular songs from all previous Club Christmas albums, including remixed takes on popular classics like “O Holy Night”, “The Little Drummer Boy” and even “Frosty the Snowman."

Club Christmas is the brainchild of Peter McLean, founder of the independent dance music label, D1 Music, and Keith Kemper

“The idea was to put a spin on classic Christmas tunes and remix them to reflect the music our fans appreciate,” states Peter McLean

So I decided to hit up D1 Music founder extraordinaire, Peter McLean as to what his personal favorite Holiday songs are, here is what he told Entertain Me:

Silent Night - a song that captures and inspires peace.

Little Drummer Boy - one of the most rhythmic Christmas carols and as a dance music producer that is very appealing.

O Holy Night - a powerful Christmas anthem that really raises the ceiling and you can't help but try for that high note at the end...but only singers like Celine Dion can hit it!!! LOL

Frosty The Snowman - this always puts a smile on my face. Who doesn't like a little fun at Christmas?

What Child Is This - musically this song is one of the most beautiful Christmas songs and it has become popular again in recent years.

Club Christmas Greatest Hits Tracklisting:

1. Feliz Navidad 3:39
2. Frosty The Snowman 3:56
3. Silent Night 2:34
4. What Child Is This 6:02

Margaret Cho & Heather McDonald Are "All About Sex"

Margaret Cho: Come Up & See Me Sometime
Heather McDonald: I Really Don't Use My Teeth
SATURDAY NIGHT IS “ALL ABOUT SEX”

TLC’s new weekly late night talk show headlined by Margaret Cho,
Heather McDonald, Marissa Jaret Winokur and Dr. Tiffanie Davis Henry
tackles love, sex, and relationships

Every man's got his patience, and here's where mine ends
I want your sex, I want your love
I want your sex, I want your sex - "I Want Your Sex" George Michael

It’s 11pm on a Saturday night, and in bedrooms and bars across the country, many minds are starting to think about S-E-X. Starting January 10, TLC can guarantee you’ll get lucky with the network’s first-ever late-night talk show ALL ABOUT SEX. Featuring the wild, insightful, and relatable opinions and ideas of four incredibly different and accomplished women - Margaret Cho, Heather McDonald, Marissa Jaret Winokur and Dr. Tiffanie Davis Henry – the weekly series will take on the latest headlines, break down the “behind closed doors” conversations about sex and love, and connect with women via social media to answer question and dispel misconceptions about what could be considered America’s favorite pastime.

TLC has ordered six half-hour episodes, airing Saturdays at 11pm, following premieres of the network’s hit series SEX SENT ME TO THE ER.

Each week will bring a rotating selection of segments, including observations on the week’s craziest sex-related news, open conversations about love and marriage, taking viewer calls and social media inquiries regarding their relationship challenges, and helping demystify the kinds of questions that you’re too embarrassed to even Google yourself. Blending together their unique perspectives, diverse backgrounds, and a hell of a lot of humor, spending a half-hour with the women of ALL ABOUT SEX will be even better than some post-coitus cuddling.

About the hosts:

Margaret Cho: A bi-sexual, Margaret could be called “Queen of all Media,” conquering film, television, books and theatre, with an Emmy nomination, Grammy nominations, sold-out tours, and off-Broadway and TV shows under her belt. She is also passionate about, and widely recognized for, her charitable work with gay rights and anti-bullying campaigns.

Heather McDonald: A virgin until age 27, now a overscheduled mom of three, Heather is New York Times bestseller and Chelsea Lately favorite who doesn’t hold back on anything. Her many talents also include headlining several sold-out stand-up tours and as a collaborator and writer on several Wayans Brothers films.

Marissa Jaret Winokur: She’s a mom first, and maybe a wife second – she admits that she would rather eat popcorn at bedtime than have sex with her husband. Marissa is well known as a Tony Award winner for playing “Tracy Turnblad” in the hit Broadway musical Hairspray, and as the fan-favorite on the hit ABC series Dancing With the Stars.

Dr. Tiffanie Davis Henry: A premiere sex and relationship expert, based in Atlanta, GA with over 14 years of experience working with individuals and couples as a treatment provider and educator. Dr. Tiffanie's mission has been to help people create the love and intimacy that they want. She is a regular contributor to a variety of publications and television programs.
