The Book Of Harth

For 20 years, conceptual artist David Greg Harth carried a Bible with him every single day, seeking signatures from the most culturally significant people in the world. In The Book of Harth, filmmaker Pierre Guillet follows the artist during the final year of his absurd quest, trailing him to scenes of frenetic celebrity worship. As Harth secures signatures behind stage doors, in city streets, and on the fringes of red carpets, Guillet cops spontaneous interviews with previous signees, from Noam Chomsky to Kevin Smith. As the last hours of his magnum opus draw to a close, Harth struggles to reconcile the project's meaning with its personal cost.

A Constellation Of Concerns

Meanwhile at the Mt. Wilson Observatory in Los Angeles...

Talks and Telescopes

w/ Glenn Kaino:

"A Constellation of Concerns"

Sat. August 20

@ 5:30 pm

Glenn Kaino, an artist of impact in our time, works in the intersection of art, science, and society, often reimagining our relationship with the natural world. In many of his works he highlights the illusionistic and mesmeric effects of scientific and natural phenomena in large scale installations.

Kaino will talk about his inventive, multidisciplinary approach, his sources of inspiration, his intrinsically collaborative method, and how his art creates engagement with vital issues. He describes each work as existing as A Constellation of Concerns, within which each project ethically engages multiple ideas in conceptually aligned ways.

My Friends Are Internet And I Want To Break You Open

Plug Research Presents
Adult Karate’s Sophomore Album
My Friends Are Internet And I Want To Break You Open
Genres Spanning New Wave, Electronic and Indie/Dream Pop
Set for Release on July 31, 2020
~
Two Advance Singles out June 26 & July 17

Adult Karate (the musical moniker for versatile artist K.C. Maloney) is poised to release his second album, My Friends Are Internet And I Want To Break You Openon July 31, 2020, on tastemaker label Plug Research. More than a year and a half in the making, this new album is a true expression of the artist’s musical evolution, a culmination of both his personal life journey and the integration of his various musical influences. This dynamic, boundary-crossing release defies genre pigeonholing and seamlessly glides between musical styles while Maloney’s candid, sometimes confessional lyrics and reverbed-out vocals hold the whole picture together. Two singles (both with B-sides) will precede the album release: “Euphoria” will be available on June 26, and expect “Keep Your Love” on July 17, 2020. For more information, please visit https://www.adultkaratemusic.com.

K.C. Maloney
My Friends Are Internet… is Adult Karate’s most wide-ranging effort to date, adeptly mixing and crossing over genres from acid house to disco to indie rock, all the while maintaining the kind of tender introspection that lies at the heart of Maloney’s music. Listening to the album, you get the sense that Maloney has hit his stride after working through a troubled past marked by addiction and issues around sexuality and identity—that there has in fact been a kind of trial by musical fire that’s both inspired and fed the artist’s journey through these personal issues/demons. One might interpret Maloney’s musical growth from the first Adult Karate release LXII, which the artist has said was “mostly an excursion into dark electronic music and slowed-down deep house” to the genre-bending ride that is My Friends Are Internet… as the artist’s finding more confident musical footing and integrating all the various aspects of his musical personality into one enthralling whole. The result is a powerhouse of an album—catchy, haunting, introspective, celebratory.
Lead Single “Euphoria” out June 26 - lyric video
Adult Karate’s first single, “Euphoria" (with "Fighters" on the B-side), which comes out this Friday, June 26, is, according to Maloney himself, “by far the poppiest-sounding music I’ve ever written.” Indeed, its four-on-the-floor drumbeat and catchy, Interpol-esque guitar hook recalls the best indie rock of the aughts more than the dark electronic roots where Adult Karate began, but Maloney’s plaintive lyrics and strong vocal performances, along with the crescendo-ing, electronic-leaning choruses, make this one of his crossover-genre masterpieces. “Euphoria” lyrically mines the process of forgetting an ex, a familiar yet timeless subject that Maloney describes poignantly: “It’s not an easy thing to do, but it’s necessary.” It’s a song for shoegazing as much as it is for taking a long, breezy drive with the top down—there’s something in it for fans of genres spanning electronic, dance and rock.
Second Single “Keep Your Love” out July 17
“Keep Your Love”—with "Those Words/Robot 36C" on the B-side—the second single off of All My Friends Are Internet… was born from an idea Maloney originally worked on for his second EP, Indoors. What started out as more of a deep house track grew into more of a “dark disco kind of thing,” with an infectious groove built from live drums and looped guitars layered in lockstep. Outgrowing the house beat and moving toward the organic drum track changed the feel of the song completely, and opened the door for one of the strongest vocal performances on the album. On the lyrics to “Keep Your Love,” Maloney says, “It’s about the passage of time and how unforgiving it can be. Fear of aging and all that. Partly inspired by some health issues I’ve been going through the past few years.”

F#cking Cardi B!

U Suck!
Cardi B

WTF?! Does the "B" in Cardi "B" stand for anyway?! Well if I was a betting sort of guy I would venture the "B" stood for B!tch!

Personally I can't stand her music. On another note does the "Me Too" movement only apply to women?!

"Yes" minions.  Cardi B. has admitted to stealing from men under the influence whilst she was a stripper. Thus does this make her PC?  Not in the least.

Personally I find her as repellent as all the men out there who prey on women and find her as morally accountable as they are.

It's a shame she was cast autobiographically in Hustlers opposite the great Jennifer Lopez

WTF?! Were they thinking. I can't stand the rapist, I mean artist, I  mean POS known as Cardi B!

Film Buff Friday - "Bloodlines"

I was made aware of Vincent via Margaret Cho, fascinating stuff...

"A morbid, fascinating, and remarkably inspiring new documentary about one of the most acclaimed artists of our time." - Metal Injection

Award winning Filmmaker / Author John Borowski's (H.H. Holmes: America's First Serial Killer) fifith feature documentary film, Bloodlines: The Art and Life of Vincent Castiglia, will be released in North America on November 13th. The film focuses on artist Castiglia's painful life of abuse, addiction, and recovery while also exploring the reasons why the world renowned artist paints exclusively in human blood.

Vincent Castiglia paints surreal images exclusively in human blood. He began doing so as form of self-healing following a troubled childhood and painful existence. From darkness, however, came light, and Castiglia's story is one of inspiration and hope, providing proof that art can heal and serve to inspire others.

Margaret Cho, who commissioned Vincent to paint her portrait in her blood, is interviewed in the film as well as celebrities Gregg Allman, Damien Echols, Kerry King and Gary Holt of the heavy metal band Slayer, record executive Michael Alago, and numerous others including filming in the studio and museum of legendary artist H.R. Giger, who designed the iconic creature for the Alien movies.

After a successful Kickstarter fundraising campaign, production of the film spanned from 2014 to 2018, filming on location in the United States: New York City, Los Angeles, Louisiana, Chicago, Oregon, and internationally: Singapore and Switzerland.

Justin Bieber "Crotch Pancake"

A Crotch Pancake Please...
Justin Bieber Style!
Remember when Lindsay Lohan was dubbed a "Fire Crotch" in the press? Well you are now free to call Justin Bieber a "Crotch Pancake" I am guessing, based on one of the more odd items to have been reported of late.

This piece by artist Dan Lacey was purchased by none other than rapper, Macklemore. Yep, Macklemore got himself some Justin Bieber peen on his wall!

The creative mind behind the art was unaware that the Thrift Shop hitmaker had bought it. Here is what Mr. Lacey told Vulture:
“To me, pancakes happen at a spiritual level, sometimes expressing themselves as eroticism. My only problem with this is that the pancake keeps being described as “resting on Bieber’s erect penis," when it obviously has replaced the penis entirely. The pancake is the penis. I’d actually let Bieber put it in me."
There you have it, oh and for the record I would not let Justin put it in me, but I would bridle him in and...fluff up your pillow and dream, people.
Happy Monday and have a terrific week!

Sundance Romance: Ellen Page

Love Birds
Samantha Thomas & Ellen Page
"Hello young lovers, whoever you are,
I hope your troubles are few.
All my good wishes go with you tonight,
I've been in love like you." - The King and I

Sundance is quite the film going experience. It can also be a place where love flourishes, especially when your lover's gone.

Case in point, one Ms. Ellen Page. Despite the fact that her girlfriend, artist Samantha Thomas, was M.I.A. by her side at this year's film festival, apparently things are still rocking and rolling with the couple.

"She's home working," Ellen spilled at her dramedy Tallulah. "I wish she could be here."
Is the Ellen and Samantha train still on track: "Absolutely" Page states.
Page's secret to the long lasting relationship? "She's awesome and we have so much fun together," she said. "We love each other and support each other. It's the best."
Can I get an awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww? Of course I can!

Pulling The Rabbit

Watch Me Pull A Moby Out Of My Hat
You know that ancient old trick that magicians do, pulling a rabbit out of a hat?

Well I bet none of those rabbits has ever been an orange one.

Artist/Musician Moby attended the Playboy Mansion's A Midsummer Night's Dream party dressed as a giant orange bunny. Holy shades of Harvey!

While I am not sure of the significance of this, but I do know that I love Moby's music.

Happy Moby Monday!

Antebellum Art Opening

This Must Be It: Antebellum Gallery in Hollywood
Last night I attended the opening of the exhibit of 21st Century Gay Man at the Antebellum gallery in the heart of Hollywood, CA in support of my artist friend Kent who had pieces in the exhibit.

It was a good time, not only was there plenty of art to view, there was also DJ Renato Teroy spinning in the gallery window, a performance by a punk band called Thinpins and eye candy in the form of bartender Jayk Knight in a barely there booty bearing underwear.

It's photo time, enjoy!

It's Murder Ballad Time With Dudley Saunders

Check out Dudley Saunders exploring his inner Nick Cave, here is a message from the artist:

Here's the third lyric video from IN THESE BOXES.  ROSEWOOD CASKET is a murder ballad, and so much more of a full narrative than the other songs.

"People disappear because their lives can't become stories. We tell the stories of heroes, but most people aren’t heroes. Their stories get stopped before they can happen. And that means only the unfinished stories tell us who we really are.

My father’s people are from Flemingsburg, farm country just outside of Appalachia. Appalachia was mostly settled by people from the border country between Scotland and England. When England and Scotland warred, they mostly just attacked the Border people. And this turned them strange – distrustful, paranoid, angry. And they took that anger with them when they settled Appalachia.

But on the other side of anger is guilt. You must have done something to make God hate you so much.

In 1888 – the year my grandmother was born – Johnny meant to leave Appalachia, to start his life, and then didn’t. The reason was in this hunting knife."
