Freaky Friday

Stu Anyone?
Joan Collins
Wednesday was the debut of Season 8 of American Horror Story: Apocalypse - and like most shows the premiere episode was meh. Premiere episodes are always establishing ones thus they are always somewhat lackluster, that's just the way it goes. I am giving the season a few more views to see if I will continue watching.

This being stated who would have ever thunk an icon from my youth would be eating a stew with Stu as the main ingredient?!

"Yes" this Freaky Friday is dedicated to the great Joan Collins who portrayed Alexis Colby-Carrington on the nighttime soap Dynasty when I was a tadpole. Never in my wildest imagination would I have thought at 85 years young she would turn up on the hit horror anthology as Evie Gallant who knowingly cannibalizes the first casualty of the fallout shelter post apocalypse, a gentleman named Stu, who is now, well stew.

Joan plays her role with sly humor and aplomb. That was to me the weirdest thing about the premiere episode, it played more like a demented dark comedy than anything that would actually get under my skin and disturb me.

Hats off to you Joan Collins, you've still got it, you cannibal freak!

Freaky Friday

Look, Up In The Sky...
Tippi Hedren

Ever wonder what would happen if nature rebelled against you in the form of a docile creature such as a bird? Well I actually don't my sister's parakeet attacked me a few times, so that has been scratched off my bucket list.

This coming Tuesday I will be hitting The Montalban Theater in Hollywood for a retro screening of Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds. It has been a long time since I have seen it, like, I believe I saw it when I was in High School. So I don't remember too much about it, other than cute little birdies taking on the demeanor of animals gone wild and that Tippi Hedren was a stalker of sorts.

So in case you haven't guessed it Ornithophobia - fear of birds, is this weeks Freaky Friday inspiration.

Thanks Tippi & Alfred looking forward to revisiting this classic under the stars on the rooftop of The Montalban this Tuesday. I hope there are no birds in sight...Ca ca ca!

Freaky Friday

Just Do It!
Madonna
"We go hard or we go home, We gonna do this all night long, We get freaky if you want" - "Bitch I'm Madonna" Madonna

Bitches I'm Michael! I go hard, that's why I never go home, oh and freaky? Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale...

OK, I'm not going to divulge anything really other than I don't know about you cats but I'm feeling mighty real and quite free-ky this Friday. "Yes" the misspelling of "freaky" was on porpoise. As was the last typo.

Let me impart these words of wisdom to you on this August 10, 2018 - live by your own rules and what works for you. Surprise yourself everyday, go with the flow and free your mind and the rest will follow...that's correct now I am sounding like an En Vogue single.

Freaky Friday

Next Time Use More Red
Lady Gaga & Ryan Seacrest
"When I wake up in my makeup, It's too early for that dress. Wilted and faded somewhere in Hollywood. I'm glad I came here With your pound of flesh" - "Celebrity Skin" Hole

It's that time again. Time to let your hair down and put on some make-up and a turban - "Yes" minions it's Freaky Friday

Remember that time Lady Gaga & Ryan Seacrest donned fifty shades of WTF make-up? No, neither do I, but it happened. I have brought you proof.

Wonder if they woke up this way after hitting the town in Hollywood? The actual explanation is probably far more freaky than we could ever venture to guess...

This being stated, Gaga must have some major mojo going on to get Seacrest to join her in something this off the cuff. He is so white bread bland for the most part. This is the edgiest thing I have ever seen from him.

Given the right partner in crime I'm sure ever the stiffest of individuals will let their freak flag fly from time to time.

That Gaga is such an instigator, there should be a law against her! Not!

It's time to wave your hands in the air like you don't care  Happy Freaky Friday!

Don't Be A Drag, Just Be A Queen
Colton Haynes
Photo:
Tyler Shields
I have a confession to make, I am a fan of photographer Tyler Shields work - OK, maybe not such a big deal in the personal revelation arena as I am sure many people are.

Also for some bizarre reason I find Colton Haynes hot. While I am sure some of you are scratching your collective heads going "Why is that bizarre?" trust, if you actually knew my overall taste in men (the key being around my age) then you would get it. There is always an exception to everything kids, don't ever think your life is one defined neat little package.

Thus these two interests guided me to this photo Tyler took of Colton, in drag.

One would think Colton would look great as a woman, since he be so purty as a guy. Well here's the thing Colton has cheek bones, and while that is associated as a thing of beauty for women, guess what? Most women don't have them. "Yep" we men pretty much stake the claim on a killer jawline, meaning that most of us aren't convincing in drag. I have great cheek bones and look like the ugliest woman ever when I cross dressed that one time in make-up camp.

Let this be your Freaky Friday tutorial - Mic Drop!

Here We Go Again!

Dancing Queens
Cher & Meryl Streep
"Yes" today marks the opening of the sequel no one was asking for Mama Mia! Here We Go Again. This being stated how can you resist Cher & Meryl Streep together again? (the first time was in Silkwood circa 1983) -

Now if I was a betting man I would have to say this is a casting only a studio executive with their eye on the box office could have made. I mean Cher & Meryl doing ABBA in the ultimate Mom (and Gay) friendly film?! It's a no brainer...

I will be sitting this one out. I really didn't care for the first one. As Meryl explained that she took the movie mainly to embarrass her children, I say "mission accomplished."

This does not mean I don't enjoy seeing the two hit the red carpet together to promote the venture as seen here at the London premiere.

Hey, I may be a tough audience when it comes to the content of what actually watch, but I still love the glamour and cache these two have together.

It's time for me to get the Mama Mia outta here and get on with my Friday...ciao!

Freaky Friday

Poodles, Poodles, Poodles!
Paul Rudd
With Ant Man and the Wasp opening, well today - I thought it was perfect timing to run this most curious photo of Paul Rudd that I stumbled across on the WWW..."Yes" minions welcome to Freaky Friday.

This weeks edition of FF does not include any body switching, sorry Jodie & Lindsay. No, this looks to be something of a totally different head. Poodle painting perhaps? The Poodle of a different color? Or ???

Whatever the case, it's definitely an image that will stick in your mind all Motherf#cking Friday, and perhaps, beyond.

Does that make me diabolical because I have inserted this into your consciousness? Perhaps a little more intriguing? Yeah, I figured as much...

It's time to let your freak flag fly, it's Friday after all!!!

Film Buff Friday: The Addiction

Being a fan of vampires & Abel Ferrara's work - I remember going to see "The Addiction" at The Nuart in West Los Angeles, CA - I even owned it on video for a spell. Lili Taylor is amazing! The Black and White photography superb. It is one of the most fascinating, horrifying, not to mention challenging additions to the genre. "Yes" that is a recommendation.

The Addiction [Blu-ray] (6/26)

Abel Ferrara and his 1995 take on the bloodsuckers with The Addiction. Philosophy grad student Kathleen (Lili Taylor) is bitten by a vampire and must learn to come to terms with her new lifestyle with now features a frequent craving for human blood. Shot in stunning black and white and on the streets of New York, The Addiction is a raw and shocking vampire film that only Abel Ferrara could make.

T.G.I.F.!

Donna Summer
Last night's Giorgio Moroder Birthday Concert in Los Angeles, got me thinking about one of the dance music pioneers most prolific collaborators, the late great Donna Summer.

This is a "you had to be there" moment to understand what an impact these two made in the dance world. Let me put it this way, while I have never been a huge fan of dance music these two took it to a whole other dimension, it was, and still is real and spectacular!

So I thought to myself, self why don't we celebrate this Friday April 27, 2018 with one of their unions, the monster hit song from the movie Thank God It's Friday, a little ditty you may have heard of called Last Dance

I'm gifting you with it, right here, right now.

Film Buff Friday: The Return of Swamp Thing

From it's campy ad campaign &  cinematic tone. To Heather Lockler's nimble performance, what's not to love about this silly 1989 movie available 5/8/2018? I thought so...
After her mother's mysterious death, Abigail Arcane (Heather Locklear) travels to the Florida swamps to confront her resurrected evil stepfather Dr. Anton Arcane (Louis Jourdan). In an attempt to stave off the effects of aging, Dr. Arcane, assisted by Dr. Lana Zurrell (Sarah Douglas), combines genes from various swamp animals and human beings, creating an army of monsters known as Un-Men. When Abby arrives, Dr. Arcane is hell-bent on taking his own stepdaughter's life in the name of science... that is until she is rescued by SWAMP THING in this must-see sequel to the original cult classic and based on the award-winning DC Comics series!
From the executive producers of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Benjamin Melniker and Michael E. Uslan and legendary cult film director Jim Wynorski (Chopping Mall, Not of This Earth),The Return of Swamp Thing features an all-star cast that includes Heather Locklear (Melrose Place, Uptown Girls), Louis Jordan (Swamp Thing, Octopussy), Sarah Douglas (Superman II, Conan The Destroyer) and Dick Durock (Raw Deal, Stand By Me) returning as the SWAMP THING.

Friday Feeling

You Lookin' At Me?!
Josh Brolin
This image of Josh Brolin looking like he's ready to go a second round in Venice, CA  perfectly sums up how I am feeling on this Friday, February 9th, 2018.

Translation? Even if Josh isn't ready, I am more than ready for round two! Wanna take me on?

Having recently dropped 25 lbs and counting it feels like I am on the verge of something bigger than myself at present and what that is will reveal itself to me organically and intuitively in time.

Trust me the best things happen when you feel good about yourself - thus I urge all of you to get out and do things that make you feel that way. Number one on that list is exercise. I can't tell you what a difference it has made for me to keep a schedule that consists of four spin classes, one yoga class and boxing as part of  my weekly routine.

Boxing has been the thing that has propelled me as a person in all honesty. It makes me feel like I can take on anything and it, believe it or not, centers me.

Now you get why Josh is the poster boy for my Friday Feeling. Find an image of someone and something to inspire you today and then make that inspiration happen.

There is no time like now! T.G.I.F!

T.G.I.F! Juggling Life

He's Got Balls
Hugh Jackman
This image of Hugh Jackman demonstrating his juggling skills on The Graham Norton Show perfectly sums up my life at present. The Greatest Showman star is telling me life, mine in partik is like a circus. Hey that's what it meant to me when I saw it, feel free to assign your own meaning, please.

You may be thinking WTF?! Christmas is over. Yes, but my life is firing on all cylinders people, things I laid the ground work for this past year are coming to fruition, in every part of my Big Top extravaganza.

So today December 29 the last Friday of 2017 I leave you with the amazing Mr. Jackman and his balls to contemplate.

T.G.I.F! It's Wine O'Clock!

Drink It Like Amy
Amy Schumer
Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale...OK, not really. But hey it's Friday and guess what that means? It's September 1st! Kidding, but it really is the 1st of September but that's not what Friday means.

Friday always means it's wine o'clock, not all day, but at least in the evening. This particular one I am doing my monthly wine & nosh get together with my friend Scott Jacobs and boy am I needing it after the jacked week I have had and the truncated day that today is going to be!

Let's put it this way, they are spraying for bugs in my apartment today so I have to vacate for three hours. When I get home there will be a lot of cleaning up to do a chore I despise more then anything. Thus I get to spend my day getting things presentable for my evening. Good times...not!

Although I do not possess a wine glass as big as Amy Schumer's I am sure that my person will drink an amount of wine tonight that could fill a couple of those monsters.

Damn! Get me to wine o'clock ASAP!

Photobomb Drop

Where's The Hamm???
Jon Hamm, January Jones & Kiernan Shipka
I stumbled across a rerun of an episode of Mad Men the other day and realized how much I miss the show. Thus today's photobomb image is something of a flashback, well it is Flashback Friday after all.

One of the hottest men on three legs Jon Hamm is captured dropping the "P Bomb" on co-stars January Jones & Kiernan Shipka.

I make no bones about my thing for Hamm on here (get it? Bones?) He has movie star looks and a nice slice of you know what to go along with it. If you are confused as to how I know that clearly you haven't seen the magnificent pics of him freeballing. I wished that would have been a part of this bomb drop...sigh.

Just Because...Caption This

Fred & Ginger?
Mitch Grassi & Scott Hoying

Just because it's Friday, just because it's fun & just because it's super fruity, I present this gender bending image of Mitch Grassi & Scott Hoying of Superfruit. See I told you it was super fruity!

So let's have some T.G.I.F. f-u-n shall we and find something imaginative to caption this photo with. As you can see I put "Fred & Ginger?" above since the boys are dancing, you know as in Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers.

Another I thought up was "The Lady Is A Tramp" an old song sung by Frank Sinatra

Yeah, I know none of my references are really trendy and now. My brain works toward the more classic end of the spectrum.

But, hey if any of you out there think of something clever I would love to hear it, seriously.

So let's have a Fruity Friday shall we?

Flashback Friday - OMG! It's Dr. Ruth!

Well this is something I never thought I'd see again in my lifetime, seriously!!!

Night Flight is excited to announce the addition of sex therapist Dr. Ruth Westheimer's video library to our Night Flight Plus channel. Night Flight Plus is a new streaming channel from the original creator of the cult USA Networks '80s classic Night Flight. Subscribers get access to original Night Flight TV episodes in their airdate form, plus an excellent selection of music documentaries, cult, horror, and more, available on Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Online. Like long-lost siblings of 1980s late night TV, Night Flight and Dr. Ruth are together at last with the start of a collection of vintage episodes that are streaming right now.
Like long-lost siblings of 1980s late night TV, Night Flight and Dr. Ruth are together at last with the start of a collection of vintage episodes that are streaming right now.

Read more about Dr. Ruth on the Night Flight blog
We're kicking off with an excellent selection of interviews
That's right, we're streaming Dr. Ruth's '80s interviews with celebrities, rock stars and lots of special guests. Dr. Ruth's shows are known for their mix of on-air therapy sessions and candid celebrity interviews. We preserved these 12 episodes in their original format, so you'll get the full Ruth experience. For our first batch, we bring you Jerry Seinfeld, LL Cool J, Burt Reynolds, Anthrax, Gloria Steinem and more... Watch.
An eclectic mix of Dr. Ruth programming from 1984-1992
Our first batch of episodes highlights the diversity of Dr. Ruth's programming. From the very popular mid '80s program "Good Sex with Dr. Ruth," to 1989's teen advice show "What's Up Dr. Ruth," you'll get the feel for Dr Ruth's signature formats and style.
In these episodes, you'll see Ruth answer letters on the air, stage short therapy sessions with troubled couples in studio, and answer phone calls from the TV audience watching at home. There are other surprises now and then too, but you'll just have to watch the episodes to see what happens.
What Dr. Ruth Westheimer did for the conversation around sex in the '80s broke the mold and had a real social impact while being wildly entertaining. We're honored to help preserve this legacy. Start watching tonight!

Wonder Woman Friday

Wonder Women
Gal Gadot & Lynda Carter
Since I stumbled upon the set stage for the Wonder Woman premiere before it began last week in Hollywood I thought I might as well give the movie's opening space on my blog.

I mean seriously couldn't we all use Wonder Woman in our lives stat? With a rouge President and and uncertain future for the U.S. she is exactly the voice and presence the world needs ASAP!

Whether I see the film or not, it is getting great reviews and leading lady Gal Gadot has been deemed a worthy successor to Lynda Carter who made the character famous on television.

Also the photo taken at the premiere above of Lynda passing the proverbial torch to Gal put a smile on my face. After this past week, this is personally what I needed, and I feel it is a pretty safe bet the majority of you feel the same.

So this weekend unleash your inner Wonder Woman, and use your powers for the betterment of the world we live in.

That goes for you too men, we all have a Wonder Woman in us!

Star Crossed - Goldie Hawn & Kurt Russell

Starstruck
Goldie Hawn & Kurt Russell
They've been together for thirty, count em' thirty years and now the both received stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, what else, together.

Yes, Goldie Hawn & Kurt Russell are now literally star crossed lovers. With Goldie returning to the silver screen in Snatched next Friday and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 with Kurt dropping today, well PR is the name of the game and what better way to gain it than a duel star ceremony for the two love birds.

I think they are both terrific! Me personally? I am looking forward to Snatched because I am a big fan of Goldie's - while I also like Kurt I'm not really into things like Guardians of the Galaxy, alas I will not be attending it. Hey with the box office take that movie will have I'm sure they won't miss me not buying a ticket.

So here is your Feel Good Friday image to kick off the weekend, courtesy of one of Hollywood's most enduring couples. Smiles everyone, smiles!!!
