Handsome Dick Manitoba releases his first solo album, 

"Born In The Bronx"

Handsome Dick Manitoba was the leader of the NYC punk group "The Dictators" starting in 1975. The group went through a series of break ups and name changes but always with Manitoba as front man. This is his first solo release and is backed by a lineup of stellar musicians including P.F. Sloan, Michael Shrieve, Simon Kirke and others. Sloan backs him here on his opus "Eve of Destruction" playing harmonica, guitar and on background vocals. 

He was also an on air DJ on Sirius / XM for 14 years, being recognized by The Village Voice as "Best Satellite Radio DJ" in 2005. Manitoba was also lead singer for MC5 starting in 2005, after the death of lead singer Rob Tyner and remained in that capacity until they disbanded after the death of bassist Michael Davis in 2012. 

Manitoba now has a podcast called "You Don't Know Dick"...and the best is yet to come!

Producer / Co-writer Jon Tiven says: 

"We wanted to make a record that was contemporary punk 'n' roll with a love for the sound of our early heroes like Wynonie Harris, Bert Berns, and the Beach Boys. I brought in a few of my Nashville friends to play and sing on it----Buddy Miller, Harry Stinson, Beth Hooker, Shannon Pollard, Chuck Mead, Donte M'Shawn---as well as some old friends to kick the skins Mickey Curry, Mat Reale, Simon Kirke and Mike Shrieve. Our beach song, "Surfside," was injected with a direct dose of the California Sun by transcendental poet Stephen J. Kalinich, the only lyricist to work with Brian, Carl and Dennis Wilson (as well as Mike Love and Stephen Marks). 

I suggested we cut a new version of my pal the late P.F. Sloan's classic anthem "Eve Of Destruction," and Handsome Dick was all-in. I even managed to fly in some harmony vocals, harmonica, and acoustic guitar from P.F. himself from some previous sessions I had done with him.

It took us a minute to find the right home for the record, but Arny Schorr stepped up with his Liberation Hall imprint and had all the enthusiasm we needed to see. So this is BORN IN THE BRONX. Germinated in NYC, manifested in Nashville, now available throughout the world... I hope y'all enjoy it!"

David Archuleta is ready to spread good cheer this holiday season with the release of the deluxe edition of his Christmas album Winter In The Air.

Additionally, the video for “Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays” premiered today on Entertainment Tonight  https://et.tv/355ZsyF and features cameo appearances by NSYNC members Lance Bass & Chris Kirkpatrick.  “I was so stoked that Lance and Chris were willing to make an appearance in my video of their song that’s becoming a classic Christmas song. I wasn’t sure if they’d say yes, but I’m so glad that they were up for it and having some fun. It’s meant to be cheesy and light, and I hope people will get a kick watching it.”  says David.

It was great to relive this song and do it with one of my best friends on the planet,  Lance.” Said Chris Kirkpatrick with Lance Bass stating “It’s an honor to have David’s incredible voice cover this iconic song. As previously announced, David will hit the road beginning November 23 on his 2019 Christmas tour which is sure to feature songs from Winter In The Air.  The album features such hits as “Christmas Every Day” - "Christmas Every Day"  (which went Top 10 on the Billboard Holiday chart) as well as title track “Winter In The Air” - Winter in the Air with the video featuring World of Dance dancer Cassidy Forsyth and So You Think You Can Dance & World of Dance dancer Ezra Sosa.  “I’m so excited to get back out on the road for my Christmas tour. I had such a blast last year singing so many Christmas classics as well as songs from my two holiday albums.  It’s such a special time of year and I hope you’ll come out and make some new memories with us this year” Says David

The tour will weave through Atlanta, Nashville, Portland and various cities in his home state of Utah before winding down on December 23.

Just Because...Charlie's Angels

Good Morning Angels! Here is an image of the newest trio of Charlie's Angels at the premiere in Los Angeles. "Yes" it's the reboot no one was asking for, starring Kristen Stewart and two women I have never heard of.

Most notable thing about it is it is written and directed by Elizabeth Banks... Oh that Effie! 

So I wonder, yes I wonder, what this is going to be like. From the trailers it seems like a more grounded take on the Drew Barrymore produced version of the TV series with the same amount of levity thrown in, and more grrrrrrrl power!

I have bared witness to Tweets that have raved about it, yet there is no score or advance reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. Tweets are an easy get, if you know what I mean. Reviews not so much.

Thus I find the sign of no early reviews a daunting quandary. Translation, this reboot more than likely is not good. However I am rooting for Banks, who I personally like to keep on moving as a filmmaker.

Have you heard? Last nigh Keeping Up With The Kardashians won favorite "Reality Show" at the 45th E! People's Choice Awards. "Yes" the people have spoken and this is what the hive mind voted for. 

Don't get all snobby on me now and pretend you have NEVER seen an episode of KUWTK. Even if you are not a regular viewer or fan, everyone has watched at least a few episodes sporadically throughout the years. 

In fact I watched an episode of it last week, which brings me to today's topic of the timeless Drinking Game. You know where you take a shot every time a certain word is uttered, yeah that one, that's the ticket.

While watching the show it struck me like lightning that Kim, Khloe & Kourtney utter the word "Yeah" a lot, and when I state a lot I mean almost like every sentence. Thus the seed was planted that this would make a most excellent Drinking Game. That's correct minions, every time one of the Kardashian Sisters (or any other person) spouts "Yeah" take a shot. I guarantee you will be black out drunk by the end of the hour.
