Michael's Musings

Who Me?
Michael Shinafelt
It came, it saw, it conquered...you know Parasite. I for one called that it would take home the top honor at The Academy Awards. Everyone I knew kept saying it would be 1917, but my intuition told me otherwise and that is why I listen to it and not other people.

On that note - Ready? Set? Go!

Don't be the scrunchie on the door of an abandoned room, just say no!!!

Open my trunk and load in all your equipment

So what, I'm still a Rock Star

That's so Summer's Eve

Make a F#ckin' cup'a tea!

How much is that lizard in the window?

Congrats to Joe Jonas & Sophie Turner who are expecting their first child

Nothing says gangsta like a Hello Kitty phone

Woman Crush of the Week - Lucy Hale, with Katy Keene and Fantasy Island happening, hey why not?

Hump Day & Chill

Tight End
Dex
While the Football season is over, there is nothing like a Football Player on the receiving end, it's even better when the player sheds his uniform and shows you what makes him great at the sport. "Yes" you guessed it today we are going to Hump Day & Chill to Entertain Me's star player, Dex.

Dex is De-lovely, De-lightful not to mention De-licious head to toe!

Beautiful Dex is scoring a touchdown today via Tye Briggs Favorite Hunks & Other Things.

See Dex run, she Dex catch a football and most importantly see Dex do it out of uniform, oh yeah!

Alright enough teasing and more pleasing. That's correct minions it's time to make a score of your own by clicking on the link below and having yourself a Hump Day & Chill Superbowl, if you get my game plan, and I believe you do.

By The Sea

Reunited
Jon Hamm & Elisabeth Moss
The Place: Santa Monica, CA
The Time: 2020 Film Independent Spirit Awards
The People in Question: Jon Hamm & Elisabeth Moss

Whilst having lunch with a friend at the LA County Museum of Art the other day, the subject of the TV show Mad Men came up. We both admitted our love of it, and lamented it's demise.

Then the WWW heavens opened wide and bestowed this photo of Don Draper & Peggy Olson - Jon Hamm & Elisabeth Moss respectively.

If you watched the show weekly like I did you know Peggy was Don's protegee at the advertising agency where they worked. "Yes" they had an unusually close bond, "No" they did not sleep together, although everyone assumes they did.

Now that the record has been set straight, I feverishly seek out Mad Men marathons on U-verse whenever possible. "Yep" I'm that guy...seize the day!

Monday Motivation

Always trust your instincts, even your more basic ones. "Yes" that is today's Monday Motivation post the Oscars. Did you all watch them? I did, the show as per usual was hit and miss, but when it hit, oh boy did it!

The Oscars are actually what got me thinking about trusting ones instincts, really they honestly did, cross my heart. How so you may wonder? Well I listened to my gut, it kept saying from the time Nominations were announced to the day of the Ceremony that Parasite was going to take home Best Picture. All my industry friends poo pooed the notion saying it would for sure take home Best Foreign Language Film but not the main prize. Well I hate to say it, but "I told you so!"

So after that it got me thinking about how my instincts and with everything going on at present how they have served me. Quite spectacularly I must say, in fact I just did.

They have been so dead on, for better, never worse, even if they say the outcome of something won't be necessarily what I would like, the understanding of it via my amazing intuition makes it all good.

I hereby decree that you get in touch with that inner voice, that is your Monday Motivation.

Listen closely...

The Academy Awards

Box Office Gold
Brad Pitt & Leonardo DiCaprio

It's the Superbowl of the Entertainment Industry today, The Academy Awards. More like the "You already know who's going to win, so sit back and enjoy the ride" awards.

Today I am going to bequeath you with a well written piece on Oscar front runner Brad Pitt & Leonardo DiCaprio being compared and contrasted to that other Movie Star duo known as Robert Redford & Paul Newman

It comes at ya via Tye Briggs from his Favorite Hunks & Other Things blog, naturally.

As per usual Tye does a whip smart writing job, and thus saves me the bother. LOL seriously though the piece is well researched and crisply written, thus I bring it to you to celebrate Hollywood's "Golden Day."

Oh, and "Yes" it does include images of Pitt & DiCaprio in the buff, Full Monty. Making all of us winners this Oscar Sunday.

Hit the link below...Woot!

Saturday Sinema: Deadly Manor

An old, dark house... A maniac on the loose... An orgy of bloodlust! All the hallmarks of late master of Spanish macabre José Ramón Larraz (Edge of the Axe, Vampyres) are present and correct in 1990's Deadly Manor - the final horror movie from one of the genre's most unheralded filmmakers. Whilst en route to a lake, a group of youngsters make an unscheduled stop-off at a remote, seemingly abandoned mansion where they plan to spend the night. But the property is full of foreboding signs - a blood-stained car wreck in the garden, coffins in the basement, scalps in the closet, and photographs of a beautiful but mysterious woman adorning every corner of the house. Before daybreak, the group will unwittingly uncover the strange and terrifying truth that lurks behind the walls of this dreadful place. The last in a trio of transcontinental slice-and-dice co-productions helmed by Larraz towards the end of the 80s (all of which which he directed under the anglicized moniker of Joseph Braunstein), Deadly Manor - released on VHS in the US under the title Savage Lust - is a fitting capper to the director's prolific career in fear, now finally unearthed for the first time on Blu-ray.
