MVD Rewind Collection is proud to present 1982: GREATEST GEEK YEAR EVER! in its original, unedited feature length form for the first time!
"When I wake up in my makeup, It's too early for that..."
Wait, it isn't too early for that I've changed my mind. You see I just woke up and I've changed a few times since then.
This is one of my favorite quotes from Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures In Wonderland. The book, which is not to be, nor should ever be confused with the many adaptations to TV and Film that have been done.
Ooooops! I did it again, I just changed since I wrote that last sentence.
Here is comes again, another one bites the dust, yep I changed yet again.
And the world keeps turning...

"We all go a little mad sometimes" - Norman Bates, Psycho
Norman Bates got this right. Sometimes we all DO go a little mad. If you are in that place then join me there as it's a Current Mood thing.
Come with me to the other side and let's descend into madness. Eat the madness and when you are done spit it back out! It's the circle of life after all.
Madness happens from time to time that's all you need to know.
Don't fight it, simply flow with it. It's all about in how you handle the ride.

It's Me! Michael Shinafelt |
Here I am Mike on a bike heading into the week with determination and energy!
FYI I dislike being called Mike for the record, but I have definitely got some more mojo than usual. Why? I don't question everything I just go with it.
Also when you have that something extra no matter how or why, you can use it to serve yourself any way you want, so really again why question it. Seriously!
Thus I am looking forward to how the week will unfold, and refold.
It's going to be totally different head.
Get on your bicycle ride!

The best equinox of the year on Wikipedia -
As we approach the first day of Fall tomorrow I feel more myself. You see Fall is my favorite season of the year.
It's a time for renewal and perspective. Not to mention pleasant weather with pretty leaves.
There is only one constant that is a part of who I am no matter what season it is. "Yes" I pretty much always rely on my basic black wardrobe.
Black goes with everything and it slims you in case you have put on a few extra lbs.
Paint it black, Minions!!!

I recently rewatched Blue Velvet for the first time since it came out when I was in college. As a person in his 50's I now realize how darkly funny the film is here is an example of this...
Which One Will I Be Today??? Michael Shinafelt |
Let's give them something to talk about...
"When I became fascinated by “old movies” as a young boy, I’d try to see every film I could find featuring movie stars I loved, and that included Olivia de Havilland. In my quest to see more of Ms. de Havilland, I stumbled upon a rarely talked about treasure, “Hold Back the Dawn”. Packed with tantalizing characters, gripping conflicts, dynamic settings, and unexpected twists, I found this forgotten masterpiece so engrossing, it quickly became a favorite and remains a film I love. Wonderfully unique, it doesn't fit exactly into any one genre, for it contains melodrama, comedy, romance, intrigue, suspense, a road trip, and even a car chase perfectly sewn together in a very moving way. It's also a stellar example of how affecting great acting can be." - Jay Jacobson, Jay's Classic Movie Blog

My Current Mood? Sometimes you feel like Santanico Pandemonium (Salma Hayek) in Robert Rodriguez's "From Dusk Till Dawn" -
"I'm not gonna drain you completely. You're gonna turn for me. You'll be my slave. You'll live for me. You'll eat bugs because I order it. Why? Because I don't think you're worthy of human blood. You'll feed on the blood of stray dogs. You'll be my foot stool. And at my command, you'll lick the dog shit from my boot heel. Since you'll be my dog, your new name will be "Spot". Welcome to slavery."

As Much as I am at loathe to post anything about Dump, how could I resist reposting this from the great Bette Midler regarding the upcoming debate! Mic Drop!
"This one’s for you, Donnie! Can’t wait for tomorrow night to watch you poop your pants on national TV as #Kamala reduces you to a quivering mass of slime on the debate stage! And don’t stalk her either. That brat bites."
Perfectly stated Ms. Midler, indeed!

Philadelphia's The Bad Ups will release their upcoming LP, 'Life of Sin' on September 27 via Jump Start Records. Stream the new lyric video for "Ego Trip" here: https://youtu.be/8Rftu45M_zY Stream on Soundcloud: https://on.soundcloud.com/BsmNX6daJuKDoNH68 Frontman Travis McKayle says,"'Ego Trip' is about finding your place in the world while staying true to yourself." Pre-order the album here: https://thebadups.bandcamp.com/album/life-of-sin The four-piece punk band draws heavy inspiration from the Epitaph and Fat Wreck bands of the 90s and early 2000s, while also embracing the rhythms of traditional ska and reggae. Channeling the spirit of Bad Brains, they blend these genres into a unique sound. McKayle, who is of Jamaican descent, named the band The Bad Ups after the Caribbean patois term “baddup”—which means to treat someone poorly or violently. This name reflects their intense musical style and their ability to connect with the term's cultural roots. Since their formation in 2018, The Bad Ups have built a dedicated following and shared the stage with prominent acts like Face to Face, The Bouncing Souls, The Adicts, and Street Dogs. Their versatile sound appeals to various punk subcultures, from ska to oi, making them a versatile addition to many lineups. The Bad Ups are gearing up for a national and international tour to support their debut LP, “Life of Sin.” Upcoming Shows: September 28- Landsdale, PA (record release show) @ Round Guys October 24- Philadelphia, PA @ The Fire Follow The Bad Ups on Socials: |

Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice! Yeah that's the ticket...as much as I loathe legacy sequels (and trust me I do!) I am going to give a Hump Day & Chill to the one for Bettlejuice.
I happened upon the original a few months ago and had forgotten how utterly unique and fun it was. Since I've heard the sequel captures the magic of the first, well I guess this will be an exception to my legacy sequel rule, I will see it instead of avoid it.
"Yes" it's 100% true I steer clear of this kind of nonsense (that also includes Marvel Moives) but if this even succeeds in capturing half of the magic of the original then I'mall in!!!
So let's Hump Day & Chill to saying Beetlejuice three times this weekend.
You know you want to...

“Breakfast at Tiffany’s” stands as a beloved classic for many reasons. It captured the excitement and glamour of early 1960's New York City chic, made an icon of actress Audrey Hepburn, influenced popular culture and fashion, and contains an immortal theme song. A giant commercial success, it garnered five Academy Award nominations and took home two statues. When I first saw it as a boy, I could sense it was a noteworthy film and even got emotional at the end, though I didn’t exactly know why. I watched it again, and though I liked it, felt I didn’t understand it and brushed it off as one of those classics that just didn’t speak to me. Cut to today, when I rewatched it after years to prepare for this post and had a completely different experience." - Jay Jacobson, Jay's Classic Movie Blog
