"Do The Drumpf"

Sax Wielders
Round Eye
If it's unique & political, it must be punk. For those about to Drumpf we salute you!

ROUND EYE, Shanghai's Sax-Wielding Experimental Punk Posse, Release "Do the Drumpf" Music Video and Single

"While China is hardly an apt place from which to lob brickbats against abuse of power, Round Eye's critique is nonetheless dead-on in its depiction of the US right wing's paranoid fantasies about Muslims, gays, the urban underclass, and non-white people."
 - Dangerous Minds

Round Eye, the experimental, sax wielding, freak punk outfit have accrued a loud and controversial name for themselves since forming in 2012. The Shanghai based group have as of late been a crucial force in bridging a wide gap between the eastern and western hemispheres of DIY punk rock.

The band has released a music video for Do the Drumpf, one of two songs on a digitally released single on Joey Shithead of DOA's Vancouver-based Sudden Death Records. The compilation is a celebration of the second anniversary of the death of common sense in the USA. Round Eye front man Chachy says, "This video is our subjective window into the reality of the sitcom we call American politics. No Trump, No KKK, No Facist USA."

Along with blazing a trail all over the globe they've played host to visiting western punks and some legends as well sharing stages with acts such as The Fleshtones, MDC, Mike Watt + The Missingmen, D.O.A., The FUs, The Boys (UK), Paul Collins Beat, M.O.T.O., Ceremony, Iceage, and eastern notables such as P.K.14, SMZB, SUBS, Hang on the Box, and during a mainland tour of China with UK punk legends The Boys, they were forced to literally move the tour underground after being banned by the Ministry of Culture for lewd artwork on a tour poster. VICE magazine documented one of their 'bunker' gigs in Beijing in glorious baijiu filled detail.

They've won the "Best Local Band" title from Shanghai's City Weekend magazine two years in a row. They've released several acclaimed music videos: "Suntan" starring famed Chinese actress Wang Lin (Xue Yi), best known for her role in the Chinese soap opera Romance in the Rain and appearances in Academy Award winning Ang Lee films such as Lust / Caution), the politically and critically charged nightmare "Billy" and "Sifter" which was entirely filmed in Pyongyang North Korea making it the very first punk video ever filmed in the DPRK.

Round Eye has played numerous festivals around the world and honed their unconventional blend of 50s R&B, Free Jazz and Punk with a critically acclaimed EP Full Circle on Ripping Records which featured Greg Ginn (Black Flag), LP Round Eye which featured Steve Mackay (Iggy Pop & the Stooges, Violent Femmes) & Lo-fi legend R. Stevie Moore, and have recently released their sophomore LP, Monstervision, on Sudden Death Records. This album was recorded by Li Wei Yu & PK 14's Yang Haisong, narrated by former The Daily Show comedian John Bloom (Joe Bob Briggs), and is the last recordings laid to wax of the late great Steve Mackay.
They have drawn comparisons to the Stooges, Captain Beefheart, Dr. Feelgood and The Fall but have more often fallen into a category all their own.

Fugly Christmas Sweater Friday

The Horror
Miley Cyrus
'Tis the season for Fugly Christmas Sweaters fa la la la la, la la la la....

It's that time of year where the apparel people don is in questionable taste especially when in comes to sweaters

Witness Miley Cyrus in an odd little number that features a graphic of Santa covering his face in what looks like horror. It's like a Christmas/Halloween hybrid or something, what that truly is I have not a clue. Oh, and don't pretend you do either, got it?

Miley has a plethora of Fugly Christmas Sweaters of the season to choose from, it's like her own tradition during this festive time of year. My reasons for choosing this one is the actual image of her and her dog radiates warmth and cheer. Translation: It made me smile and the canine helped off set the hideous sweater.

So break out whatever it is you imbibe in and raise a glass of cheer! Only four more days, yikes!!!

Happy Birthday To Me!

Birthday Boy
Michael Shinafelt
“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift of God, which is why we call it the present.” ― Bill Keane

"Yes" indeed today is the present, another day to be alive and experience the world around you. Make choices that are bold and could potentially open the door to new and greater opportunities and experiences. In short today is my Birthday! Join me while I celebrate 53 years of living.

One of the most valuable lessons I have learned in that time is to always look for ways to ground myself, because I am nothing without me.

Wonder what's going through my brain right now while I am writing this on the day of my birth December 18th? I've got this!

I am thankful for my health and being in the best shape I have ever been in. I'm even starting to get ab definition for the first time in my entire life.

El Coyote bound tonight, kick ass margaritas & greasy tacos here I come!

I'm in my Birthday Suit doing this right now

Wonder if the washer is fixed or if I'm going to have to go to the laundry mat this afternoon???

Lemon Water is delicious & delightful

Hole is one of the best bands ever!

Looking forward to the Christmas Party on the rooftop of The Montalban in Hollywood tomorrow night

Perhaps I will go see Mary Poppins Returns at some point

Can't wait to see my BFF Brittney tonight

Getting it with abs & spin class this morning. I may throw in a little boxing for good measure

Happy Birthday To Me is one of my favorite horror movies

OK, focus and carry on, it's your Birthday but you still gotta adult

Monday Motivation

 Serving Little Edie Realness
Madonna

"Wine is bottled poetry" - Robert Luis Stevenson

That's correct peeps my Monday Motivation is wine, and not the kind that people do when they are trying to get their way. That's not my kind of wine, my kind is the kind you drink from a glass and it makes you happy

Thus your Monday Motivation is to c'mon get happy. Smiles everyone smiles! Holiday cheer is here in the form of a big magnificent glass of squashed fermented grapes.

So join me, myself and fellow wine enthusiast Madonna and raise a glass, and give yell. It's Mother F#cking Monday

Only eight more days until Christmas, suck on that!

Last Christmas...

A Christmas Gift
George Michael
"Last Christmas, I gave you my heart, But the very next day you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears, I'll give it to someone special" Last Christmas, Wham

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale...

OK, it's not a tale, it's the legend of  George Michael who was taken from us on Christmas Day 2016 at 53 years young. 53 is young, I can state that since I am going to be it this Tuesday December 18th 2018

Moving forward today I would like to remember George and Wham's Christmas classic Last Christmas. Being that we are in the final countdown (only 9 more days) and such till the hallowed day.

I remember meeting Mr. Michael at the premiere party for the Randal Kleiser gay themed film It's My Party held at the Armand Hammer Museum. While he was not officially out of the closet to the world, he was OOTC to Hollywood as he arrived surrounded by a entourage of hot guys.

George was a effervescent spirit who radiated warmth, light & joy. Much like the season we are in is supposed to.

Thus today in a holly jolly way, give someone your heart to celebrate the season and George's passion. Remember there are many ways to do that, so just do it!

Enjoy the Wham Christmas Classic after the jump. Enjoy it and enjoy it now!
