Michael's Musings

TBT: Blonde Jock
Michael Shinafelt
Today I am in a Throwback Thursday state of mind, hence the photo of myself I chose to use. "Yes" I was once young bleached blonde Guy full of ambition and a few other things 😈 Honestly I am happier and like myself more now than I did then. The old adage is true "Youth is Wasted on the Young" - Unless your Miley Cyrus, then that's a whole other story...

Well It Chapter Two is number one at the BO, no surprise there. Friends whose opinions I trust have not liked it. I honestly found the first one tedious and not scary in the least, I will be sitting this one out. I'll wait till it hits cable thus having the option to switch channels it I so choose 🎈

I had such a challenging week, a snappers falling out eyeball is a welcome change

Smells Like Pumpkin Spice Spirit...Boo!

If you have an unusual, obscure name, don't get arrogantly correct people when they pronounce it wrong. Your parents F#cked you over, deal with it!

Attention, you know I just found what your looking for

This coming Wednesday September 18th American Horror Story: 1984 premieres. Honestly I love that they are taking on 80's slasher movies. Anything would be better than last season.

In the spirit of Throwback Thursday, I remember the time I met the late, great David Bowie. "Yes" I nearly wet myself.

Woman Crush of the Week - Lizzo

"Many people say" is a Trump code for racist lie coming at ya!

Now that Marie Osmond is on The Talk I really need to watch it at least once

"Bitch, We're Gay, Not Vampires!" Sh!t Gays say to religious fanatics waving a cross at them...

Michael, as in me, myself and I says: Relax (see Frankie isn't the only one who can do it, just sayin')

Hump Day & Chill

In Bloom
Josh Mosier

As we are in the throes of the last days of Summer, I was pondering what it is I like most about it. Is it the extra hot temperatures? "No" Is it that I have to utilize my air conditioner? "No" Is it being stuck in traffic? "No"  - well then what is it?! It's flowers in bloom and skin, of the male variety (duh)!

This week's Hump Day & Chill has both, in the form of Sunflowers & male model Josh Mosier. Captured through the eyes of photographer byKent.

Kent extrapolates on his love of Sunflowers and of course Josh's nude male form via Tye Briggs Favorite Hunks & Other Things. "Yes" not only do get an interesting read you get the full Josh romping among the flora.

Hey, what more could you ask for in a dog days of Summer Hump Day & Chill, I ask you? Answer me, I asked, c'mon don't be shy...alright have it your way, and do it your way by clicking on the link below.

What a feeling!

James Durbin Out!

James Durbin has left the building. "Yes" the rumor is true, he's vacated the role of Quiet Riot frontman.

Durbin joined the veteran heavy hard rock band in March 2017. Formed in 1973, Quiet Riot had its biggest hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1983 with “Cum on Feel the Noize,” a cover of Slade’s 1973 U.K. hit. The Quiet Riot version peaked at No. 5 on the Hot 100.

As you recall Durbin also made a not so Quiet Riot of his own when he was placed fourth on Season 10 of American Idol.

Evolving is a part of life, when the time comes to do other things, you know it and had better pay attention to your inner voice. James told Entertain Me about his not being with the band -

"I'm proud of and grateful for my time in Quiet Riot, but I'm really looking forward to releasing a new EP in early 2020, and working on various new projects. Including Voice Over acting for Disney/Star Wars: "Choose Your Destiny"

My hometown rock cover band The Lost Boys and California country band Homeland Revival. As well as any new opportunities that come my way."

Best wishes buddy and "May the force be with you" always.

Monday Motivation

Feeling It
Michael Shinafelt
While heading into my last two weeks of wearing a cast to recover from surgery I began pondering my life overall and you know what? It's been a good one. "Yes" rather than focus on the fact that I have lost some of the shape I worked so hard for, I chose to focus on the fact that I really haven't lost that much. (it's true, it didn't  go down as badly as I thought it would) -

Thus today's Monday Motivation is Gratitude. Gratitude comes when you meditate and clear your mind of all the BS that doesn't matter. It takes a strong person with a lot of will power to do this because in a Social Media age everything is pretty under a microscope and most things are magnified to hold more weight than they actually do.

So while in a calm state I made a check list of things I am grateful for, Gratitude. What are those thing? None of your business 😇 Trust Me the process is one that should be practiced everyday to achieve the outcome one wants of it. That would be to be a happier person so you can attract what you want in your life and shut down the rest of it.

Just do it! When you tend to your own well being it reflects to the universe and gets magnified back at you. Would I lie to you? No way...!!!

PS  Some additional wisdom, beware of petty narcissist, they are insidious 😲

What's Happening Here?!

Hello Angels
l-r
Sarah Michelle Gellar, Lucy Liu, Alicia Silverstone

Glancing at the photo of this toothsome threesome can you guess What's Happening Here?! Well we know these three are not united for the upcoming Charlie's Angels reboot that stars Kristen Stewart and two other women I've never heard of. Perhaps they are assembled to quietly judge all of us? Or maybe see, speak and her no evil?

Well if you guessed that Sarah Michelle Gallar, Lucy Liu & Alicia Silverstone are taking a one of a kind photo-op at the Christian Siriano show during New York Fashion Week, come on down, you win!

One of the thing I love about seeing photo-ops of celebrities at Fashion Week is you get some most strange bedfellows together in one room and thus a unique photo of peeps you would never see together anywhere else.

Smiles everyone, smiles!

Saturday Sinema: The Hills Have Eyes Part 2

Tis the season for a Wes Craven horror movie....

The hills are once again alive with the sound of screaming in Wes Craven's hugely entertaining follow-up to his own groundbreaking 1977 The Hills Have Eyes. A motocross team on their way to trial a new super-fuel head out across the desert lead by Rachel, who, unbeknownst to the rest of the group, is a survivor of the cannibal clan which menaced the Carter family several years before. Opting to take an ill-advised shortcut across the desert, the busload of youngsters drive straight into the path of the remnants of Rachel's demented cannibal kin - the menacing Pluto, and a hulking, blood-hungry brute by the name of The Reaper. Made by Wes Craven immediately prior to his smash-hit A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Hills Have Eyes Part II diverges from the grim tone of its predecessor in favour of fun action-horror thrills and spills replete with mutants, motorbikes, and - oh yes - dog flashbacks!

When The Runaway Met Fanny

CHERIE CURRIE & BRIE DARLING
Announce North American & Canadian Tour Dates

New Album “The Motivator” – Debuts Top 20 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Chart

Los Angeles-based, female rock icons, Cherie Currie and Brie Darling have announced the initial dates for their first-ever tour together.  The tour, in support of their recently released new album The Motivator is set to kick off in Las Vegas on November 8.  The month long trek will weave through major markets including Chicago, Philadelphia and New York as well as some Canadian dates.   All dates will go on sale Friday, September 6  at 8 AM PST/11 AM EST.

“I’ve worked my whole life for this. I feel so lucky to share this new experience with an icon I truly admire.” says Cherie Currie while Brie Darling sums up her excitement for the upcoming tour with “It's gonna get noisy ...You're gonna wanna be here!"

The Motivator debuted in the Top 20 on Billboard’s Heatseeker’s Chart and has received rave reviews with The Big Takeover saying “the chemistry of Currie and Darling is awe inspiring as the vocal gymnastics of both complement each other perfectly,” while Uncut magazine raves “The pick of their three originals is the defiant pop-rock anthem, “This Is Our Time”. “It ain’t over yet, turn up our voices past 10,” sings Currie.  And they have.”

In addition to major feature stories in the LA Times HERE and Billboard Magazine HERE Cherie & Brie recently sat down with CNNto discuss the new project: Brie & Cherie on CNN

The Motivator via Blue Ã‰lan Records was produced by the six-time Grammy nominated Dave Darling (Brian Setzer, Stray Cats, Janiva Magness, Tom Waits) and features nine classic covers by bands including The Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder, and John Lennon, plus three powerful new originals, “Too Bruised,” “I’m Too Good, That’s Just Too Bad” and the topical “This Is Our Time.”

The Kinks classic “Do It Again” - View the video HERE  and also stream “Do It Again” HERE
The Youngbloods’ "Get Together" and T. Rex’s  "The Motivator"

Guests on the album include a host of family and friends who came in to do backups, including Currie’s sister, actress Sondra Currie, her ex-husband, actor Robert Haysfriends, Susan Olsen of Brady Bunch fame, Leslie Koch Foumberg, and actress/director, Allison Scagliotti. Darling’s brother, Henry Berry is on “He Ain’t Heavy”; and brother Phil Berry does a guitar solo on the Kinks tune “Do it Again” while her sister, Rory Berry Bishop plays drums on Thunderclap Newman’s “Something in the Air.” Patti Quatro—Suzi’s sister and a member of Fanny—plays guitar and sings on “For What It’s Worth.”

The Runaways front-woman and solo artist, Currie, met the Fanny drummer and singer, Darling, in 2017 and immediately connected.  Currie had come in to contribute vocals to Fanny Walked the Earth, a reunion album from the trailblazing Fanny, the first all-female band signed to a major label (Reprise) in 1969.  Though the two musicians were certainly admirers of each other, they had not yet met until that session.  Once connected, the idea to continue collaborating was hatched and soon the idea to record an album was solidified.

It was decided they would record an album of cover songs that resonated with the duo.  The covers chosen mostly share—unintentionally—a socio-political resonance that’s as relevant today as when the songs were written.  “The original album concept was that Brie was going to sing a few, I’d sing a few, and we’d back each other up,” furthers Currie. “But I knew our voices really work well together. On T. Rex’s ‘The Motivator,’ Brie did a great soulful rock scratch vocal but maybe I have more of a tough rock quality to my voice, so I think Dave decided I was going to sing it.  But in my head I heard a duet, me doing the first verse, her on the second verse….and that started the dialog of using our voices together as a concept. Our voices complement each other, so we decided we should share the majority of these songs, because it makes them better.”  Producer Dave Darling says, "It's extremely rare to have two such powerful vocalists in the same band. Cherie's a steam roller and Brie's a flame thrower. That just doesn't happen!"
