Paper Lady Unveils New Single "Static" with Exclusive Premiere on The Luna Collective

Boston’s ethereal indie band Paper Lady is set to release its latest single, "Static," from the debut album Idle Fate on Friday, March 14, with an exclusive premiere on The Luna Collective.

"Static" explores the fear of being forgotten, weaving together dreamy, ethereal instrumentation with deeply introspective lyricism. The track features a unique sonic palette, including the omnichord, played by lead vocalist Alli Raina, adding a distinctive texture to the song’s haunting atmosphere.

The accompanying music video, directed by Melanie Drew Chambers (known for her work with Cornelia Murr, Razor-N-Tape, and Sarah Goldstone), further enhances the song’s themes of memory and impermanence. The video follows Raina through a stunning landscape, where she carries a basket of apples—symbolizing pieces of herself—that she leaves behind at various points throughout the journey, as if ensuring she will be remembered.

“Melanie was amazing to work with. She not only directed the video but also designed all of the props and sets, bringing our vision to life in the most beautiful way,” shares Raina. “We even built the bed used in the video and carried it out to a lake to set it up for one of the scenes. It was a surreal experience.”

Adding to the mystique of "Static," its release coincides with the full moon and an eclipse—a cosmic alignment that was purely unintentional but feels serendipitous. “Something similar happened when we were shooting the album cover—we realized it was a supermoon while filming. These unplanned moments feel like magic aligning with our music,” says Raina.

The release of "Static" follows the February 7 debut of Paper Lady’s first single, "Silt," and precedes the April 11 release of "Joe Modern," all leading up to the arrival of their debut album, Idle Fate, on May 9.

Fans can stream "Static" on all major platforms starting March 14, and watch the music video exclusively on The Luna Collective. For more updates, visit PaperLadyMusic.com and Linktr.ee/paperladymusic.

ABOUT PAPER LADY:
Paper Lady is an indie dream-rock outfit conjuring enchanting, immersive soundscapes from their home base in Boston, MA. Born in the depths of the Northeast DIY scene in 2019, the band has since become a spellbinding force in the world of ethereal rock and noisy freak folk.

The core lineup includes Alli Raina (vocals, primary songwriter, rhythm guitar), Rowan Martin (lead guitar) and Alex Castile (drums) and Taylor Morris (bass), each contributing to the band’s alchemical blend of sound and performance.

With influences spanning Mazzy Star, Broadcast, and Jefferson Airplane’s psychedelic explorations, Paper Lady crafts a unique sound that blends dreamy textures with grounded storytelling. Their previous EP, While You Should Be Sleeping, and tracks like “Absentee” and “Return to the Lake” established them as a standout act in the Allston basement show scene, while Idle Fate promises to push their sound into more experimental territory.

In 2024, the band wrote and recorded their debut full-length album, Idle Fate, during a retreat in a cabin in upstate New York and at their shared home in Brighton, MA. Self-recorded and self-mixed, the album explores themes of grief, love and fantastical existentialism.

Beyond Paper Lady, the band members are prolific creatives in their own right, pursuing solo projects and collaborating with other acts. Their collective artistry makes Paper Lady a true creative community, redefining the boundaries of indie rock and dream pop, and in 2023 the band was nominated for ‘Alt/Indie Artist of the Year’ at the Boston Music Awards. For fans of boundary-pushing music that feels both mystical and deeply human, Paper Lady offers an unforgettable journey.

Hello Dum-Dum

The Great Gazoo!

"Starships were meant to fly, Hands up and touch the sky" - Nicki Minaj, Starships

TGIF! Look it's The Great Gazoo here to impart us with words of wisdom heading into the weekend.

"Yes" these days "Hello Dum-Dum" actually qualify as words of wisdom. If you can't wrap your head around why, well then I guess you...well, never mind.

What's that you say? Who is The Great Gazoo?! Well let me tell ya about The Great Gazoo!

"The Great Gazoo, or simply Gazoo, is a fictional character from the animated series The Flintstones. He first appeared on the show on October 29, 1965. The Great Gazoo was voiced by actor Harvey Korman."

Gazoo would always greet Fred Flintstone & Barney Rubble by saying "Hello Dum-Dum"

Are you getting the picture now? I suspect you are...

"Sex is a poetic act, it’s a metaphor" - Frank (Sam Rockwell), The White Lotus

In case you aren't partaking in Season Three of The White Lotus, episode five which aired Sunday was how shall one put it? Chock full of carnal knowledge. The less said the better it's a see it for yourself type of to do.

Anyway said episode is still living rent free in my head, so guess what??? That's correct you are going to get The White Lotus treatment this week. So buckle up Minions here we go!!!

Today is the first day of Spring, happy equinox!

Frank's (Sam Rockwell) monologue to his friend Rick (Walton Goggins) where he addresses "ladyboys" is one for the ages. I have watched it four times (with more to come)

Five ants rented an apartment with another five ants. Now they're tenants. The more you know...

“Rick, the lady in the airport thought you were my dad, okay? You should get a gentlemen’s facial” —Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood) to her boyfriend Rick (Walton Goggins) The White Lotus

Get the feeling that Walton Goggins on The White Lotus had a blast playing Rick? I do!

Hear me out...a movie about Jesus' resurrection, but Weekend at Bernie's style, discuss

Prepare for incoming bungholes, that's all

Haiku bukkake. Circle & shoot poetry all over my face.

Woman Crush of the Week - How could it not be Parker Posey for giving us the gift of Victoria Ratliff on The White Lotus.

I owe myself the biggest apology for putting up with what I didn't deserve

“You sure know how to treat a burnt-out bitch” —Belinda (Natasha Rothwell) The White Lotus

To those of you who found the brother on brother incest kiss between Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger) and Lochlan (Sam Nivola) "shocking" uh not really. Obviously you are not familiar with VC Andrews and The Flowers in the Attic book series.

So what's Kate's (Leslie Bibb) story on The White Lotus? There's something bubbling under that surface

Now my obsession with The White Lotus episode five of season three has come to a close and aren't you happy?!?!

Hump Day & Chill

Walton Goggins & Sam Rockwell

“So, one night, I took home some girl who turned out to be a ladyboy, which I’d done before, but this time, instead of fucking the ladyboy, the ladyboy fucked me, and It was kind of magical. And I got in my head, what I really wanted was to be one of these Asian girls getting fucked by me, and to feel that."

Forget the incestual kiss between Ratliff Brothers (Patrick Schwarzenegger & Sam Nivola) on Season 3 Episode 5 of The White Lotus. The real deal is the monologue that Frank (Sam Rockwell) delivers to old friend Rick (Walton Goggins) as you can see from the excerpt above it's a doozy!

Thus we are going to Hump Day & Chill to this thing of beauty.

Personally I was so riveted by it I've watched it three times (and counting) thus far. Not only is it fascinating to hear what is said, it is masterfully delivered by Rockwell and reacted to by Goggins.

Tell you more? Below is a link to the the entire monologue...

Can You Say Awkward?

Olivia Holt
in
Heart Eyes

How was your St. Patrick's Day celebration? Yeah, I thought you might have pushed it too far.  Thus as we stumble into Tuesday March 18, 2025 can you say "awkward?" Well you'd better step up because as fate would have it today is National Awkward Moments Day, Woot!

Here to commemorate it is Olivia Holt star of the recent Heart Eyes and Cruel Summer season one on Freeform.

This is what Ms. Holt says was one of her most awkward moments:

"One winter I was in Central Park in New York. I'm not used to being around snow — I grew up in Mississippi — and when I went to take a picture, my foot slipped from underneath me and I fell. But not a butt fall, not a stomach fall — a face plant! Like, I ate the snow! I don't get embarrassed easily, but there were tons of people around taking photos, and I was on the ground, laughing for 15 minutes, just covered in snow. You know how everyone crowds around street performers? That was me. My mom was there, my sister was there, and everyone wanted to see what they were laughing at. It was pretty epic."

Create some new memories today and "Get Awkward"
