Time For Some S&M! "Mercy Mistress"

I'm Begging You For Mercy!
Poppy Liu
SM WEB DRAMA SERIES MERCY MISTRESS EXECUTIVE PRODUCED BY MARGARET CHO COMING…
JAN 7

Based on the real life of professional dominatrix Yin Q.
Asian-Femme-focused digital drama explores the complexities of our secret taboos: Bondage, Submission, Sado-Masochism, Fetish, and Kink.

Museum Of Sex to host Red Carpet Premiere

"Give it up, do as I say" - Erotica, Madonna

In a surprise announcement from her private lair, Margaret Cho announced last week that “I have joined an amazing new series, Mercy Mistress, as an Exec Producer. You will watch.”

Mercy Mistress is based on a memoir by Yin Q. The show follows the character Mistress Yin, played by Poppy Liu, as a queer, first-gen, Chinese-American professional and lifestyle dominatrix in Manhattan. Season 1 is directed entirely by Amanda Madden, and produced by a primarily woman-led crew, with support of the POC, Asian American, queer, and kink communities. The show simultaneously explores immigrant life, stories of Asian culture in America, the struggles and challenges of sex workers, and authentic experiences in the kink world.

It is likely NSFW, so adventure with discretion!

Yin Q said “We are thrilled to bring Mercy Mistress to the communities it represents, as well as to the greater audience. I am personally ecstatic to work with the legendary Margaret Cho. She has long championed the myriad voices inside and behind this series.”

No Mercy
Cho added “Yin’s universe, executed by Amanda and inhabited by Poppy, embodies the wonderful mad mix of diverse people living in our world, and making art in our culture. Unfortunately, these very voices – the Sex Worker, the Chinese Immigrant, the Asian Woman, the secret Kink – often remain invisible. It’s an honor to help get them seen.”

Cho and her partners Sarah Martin and Jessie Boemper also join Mercy Mistress as Executive Producers, along with their frequent collaborator, Evan Shapiro. Together the team recently announced their sale of comedy series Almost Asian, a series which takes on the Asian American experience from a significantly lighter tone.

Cho’s declaration came via Instagram, with an announcement that the first episode of Mercy Mistress dropped on the show’s YouTube page (www.bit.ly/watchmercymistress). The series, which will be released on January 7, will be celebrated at The Museum of Sex in NYC with an exclusive premiere experience.

Film Buff Friday - "Bloodlines"

I was made aware of Vincent via Margaret Cho, fascinating stuff...

"A morbid, fascinating, and remarkably inspiring new documentary about one of the most acclaimed artists of our time." - Metal Injection

Award winning Filmmaker / Author John Borowski's (H.H. Holmes: America's First Serial Killer) fifith feature documentary film, Bloodlines: The Art and Life of Vincent Castiglia, will be released in North America on November 13th. The film focuses on artist Castiglia's painful life of abuse, addiction, and recovery while also exploring the reasons why the world renowned artist paints exclusively in human blood.

Vincent Castiglia paints surreal images exclusively in human blood. He began doing so as form of self-healing following a troubled childhood and painful existence. From darkness, however, came light, and Castiglia's story is one of inspiration and hope, providing proof that art can heal and serve to inspire others.

Margaret Cho, who commissioned Vincent to paint her portrait in her blood, is interviewed in the film as well as celebrities Gregg Allman, Damien Echols, Kerry King and Gary Holt of the heavy metal band Slayer, record executive Michael Alago, and numerous others including filming in the studio and museum of legendary artist H.R. Giger, who designed the iconic creature for the Alien movies.

After a successful Kickstarter fundraising campaign, production of the film spanned from 2014 to 2018, filming on location in the United States: New York City, Los Angeles, Louisiana, Chicago, Oregon, and internationally: Singapore and Switzerland.

Margaret Cho Extended

All Cho, No Bloat
Photo:
Albert Sahnchez

She's here, she's extended, and it's huge!
Five time Grammy & Emmy nominated comedian Margaret Cho has announced brand new spring dates to her wildly popular “Fresh Off The Bloat” tour which launched last fall.

Margaret was named one of Rolling Stone magazine’s 50 Best Stand-Up Comics of All Time http://www.rollingstone.com/culture/lists/50-best-stand-up-comics-of-all-time-w464199?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=021417_16&utm_content=daily and has received rave reviews for the initial shows with the Chicago Tribune saying “Be it on-screen (“30 Rock,” “Drop Dead Diva”) or on stage, Margaret Cho has been one of the most exciting, unpredictable stand-up comics working for some time, and that hasn’t changed in 2017. If anything, the Asian-American female comedian’s voice has become more valuable than ever, given today’s social climate, and Cho’s material remains just as compelling, thanks in part to—and sometimes in spite of—her unapologetic delivery.”

“Fresh Off The Bloat” is certainly her sickest stand-up comedy show to date. A pioneer amongst women in comedy, Margaret doesn’t take anything for granted as she continues to tackle difficult subjects with sensitivity and her razor sharp insight with her takes on addiction, abuse, activism and Asianness. It's all about the politics of disgust and what is disgusting about politics. Aptly titled, Fresh Off The Bloat,” Margaret says, “Fresh Off The Bloat” is my sickest show to date.  My grandmother said "You look like bloated as if you've been found dead in a lake after several days of searching." Koreans are the most savage of all the Asians. My new show is all about being fresh off drugs and drinking and suicide and coming back to life - finally fished out of the river Styx. It's meta. It's magical. It's me.

Michael's Musings

"Life ain't so bad at all If you live it off the wall" -
Off The Wall, Michael Jackson
Michael Shinafelt

This week Harvey Weinstein is the new blue, as in blue balled. My smart phone both disturbs and fascinates me. Angelina Jolie is still, what else? Winning!

Shall we play games?

"The Weinstein story should be less about him, and more about the hundreds of men who knew, and did nothing" - Tony Tripoli, Comedian

Just when you thought your smart phone couldn't get any creepier and omniscient, upgrades happen

My favorite quote from Margaret Cho's Fresh Off The Bloat tour that I attended last week: "Jesus was a rape baby!" Think about it, but not too much

Night calling, wine wankers

Take a stand for LGBTQ youth next Thursday October 19th and go purple.

Reading is fundamental, seriously people

Now for something entirely different? A homeless man panhandled me for a pair of shorts yesterday rather than money

Angelina Jolie on the cover of Harper's Bazaar, winning!

When I was a kid I used to crush on witches. While waiting in line for a haunted house with my Dad I even told the one who was entertaining everyone while they were waiting she was pretty and asked to kiss her. "Yes" she had warts and green skin, she was beautiful.

Coming next year another installment of, well the infamous Halloween series with original star Jamie Lee Curtis returning. I can't wait!

Why the F#ck would you even desire a virgin cocktail?! If you want that you might as well have H20

Michael's Musings

Let Love Rule!
Myself & J.M. Rich

Wow! What a motherf#cking week! Las Vegas will prevail. Yet the lives lost and people affected are unconscionable.

So this weeks tone is provocative (yeah OK, every week is) Can't we say and do anything we want at present? The jerk off who is "running" our country seems to think so. Thus if the image of tender affection between two men I posted of myself and J.M. Rich offends you. Seek serious mental help.

Moving on up I presume.

Luckily I did not lose anyone in the Las Vegas shooting. But I do have friends who did. WTF?!

Margaret’s new TV project Highland has been picked up for pilot by TNT Network. Highland will chronicle what happens when two extended, dysfunctional Korean-American families who share the same patriarch must come together after tragedy strikes. As it turns out, the most reliable person in both families is the one who just got out of rehab.

"Executive producer Liz Sarnoff (Lost,Barry) and Margaret Cho's brilliant script exposes Margaret's warm heart and bracing humor, balancing powerful emotional truths with laugh-out-loud scenes and characters," said Sarah Aubrey, executive vice president of original programming for TNT. "Highland continues TNT's commitment to bringing diverse voices and worlds to television. We look forward to making a pilot with such a singular talent as Margaret Cho.”

Michael's Musings

Between A Rock & A...
Michael Shinafelt
In this day and age of social media, which I have been quite attentive to for business matters, I took some very minor down time this weekend. Only to find the fall out was pretty noticeable.

So all apologies for this, that & the other thing. The minute I came back all was well in the world.

So let's get to it, here is the week that was and will always be. Hey, it's a constant craving, moving on...
