It Rough

Rough Night?
l-r
Scarlett Johansson, Zoe Kravitz & Ilana Glazer
There are a lot of rough things in this world. Some rougher than others. Well this isn't one of them.

Check out Scarlett Johansson, Zoe Kravitz & Ilana Glazer at a photocall for their upcoming comedy Rough Night. Doesn't look too rough to me, how about you, do you think this is rough?

From what I gather from the trailer the comedy is about a group of friends having a bachelorette party and a male stripper they hire ends up dead. Now that scenario actually does sound rough.

But probably not as rough as that one night I had when I was 35 and...yep there's another one that will be in the book I am writing. So you'll just have to wait for it.

Hope your week isn't too rough!

Get "Snatched" Wednesday

Getting In "Formation"
Amy Schumer & Goldie Hawn
While I was a little taken back by Goldie Hawn's appearance on the Golden Globe's this past weekend, and to clarify by "appearance" I don't mean the fact that she was on the show. I know why she was on with one Ms. Amy Schumer, they have a movie coming out May 12th called Snatched and I can't wait!

Both women are brilliant on screen comedians and even if the movie falls short of their talents I am willing to bet their chemistry and considerable skills will make it worth the watch.

This is one of those rare dream teams that hit the silver screen that compels you to buy a ticket just to see them werk!

As you may or may not recall the two first teamed up for a brilliant parody of Beyonce's song Formation.

Check out the funny as fuck trailer below and watch your ass!

Tax Day Menage A Trois

Threesome
Zac Efron, Anna Kendrick & Some Guy Named Adam Devine
Let's alleviate some of the tax day stress with a fun menage a trois, shall we? That's correct here we have two of my favorites Zac Efron and Anna Kendrick pictured with someone I have not a clue as to who he is, Adam Devine.

The three of them were snapped promoting their upcoming comedy, with the literal title: Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates at CinemaCon. Where they scored the Triple Crown as Stars of the Year, that's right, Stars, hey there is room for everyone.

Efron and Kendrick in a comedy together is like a dream. They both have great timing and know how to work your funny bone. I am looking forward to catching this flick when it arrives.

Now if only I had a handle on who the flip Adam Devine is...

It's "Alpha Balls" Wednesday...!

Baywatch Bromance
Johnson & Efron
And boy is it ever! Here are some pix of Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron from the set of the currently filming Baywatch Movie.

The word is this time around BW is a straight forward comedy, rather than the unintentional one it actually was. It's humor will also be distinctly R-Rated...well that sounds enticing.

While no one can ever duplicate Pamela Anderson's  iconic run down the beach, this round Baywatch has some serious man candy in the form of Johnson and Efron to compensate.

Hey, no matter your sexual preference you've gotta admit, these two are 100% Beef!

The former Rock took to his Instagram with this comment about his Co-Star Efron

"#BAYWATCH Day 1. My character "Mitch Buchannon" just gave @zacefron's character "Matt Brody" the all important beach speech about what it means to have manly "Alpha balls". Zac's ad-libbed responses were brilliant! Talented and great dude. World get ready to have some fun, 'cause the beach will never be the same again. #OnSet #BAYWATCH #Day1 #AlphaBalls #NowWhoNeedsMouthToMouth?"

As a child of the 80's I for one am welcoming the comeback of raunchy R-Rated Comedy films. Yeah, I grew up with those. Let's hope Baywatch hits the mark.

Happy Hump Day! Get yourself some "Alpha Balls!"

Amy Schumer Can "Catch a Dick"

Why Isn't The "A" Scarlet?
Photo: Matt Irwin
"I'm probably like 160 pounds right now, and I can catch a dick whenever I want." - Amy Schumer to Glamour Magazine

Oh Yeeeeeeees! I love Amy and her insightful brand of comedy, not to mention it's honesty and, well how raunchy it is, if I am being straight up.

I never miss an episode of Inside Amy Schumer.

Personally other than Mad Max Fury Road, Trainwreck is the only movie I really wanted to see this summer.

Yes, that's correct I wanna see Amy her cellulite, belly and all get down and dirty and act like guys have been acting on screen forever. But instead of being an entitled guy who bangs all the women he wants, it goes without saying Schumer will catch a ride on all the guys she wants. Werd!

You go chica!

Comedian Matt McClowry Has A Fear Of Trojan Condoms

Matt McClowry
Matt McClowry "Uncomfortable"
available digitally on October 7th

Since this is the season of things that scare, Matt McClowry admits to his fear of Trojan Condoms in the YouTube clip posted below.

If you have not ever heard of Matt, well here's your chance to check him out, don't be afraid...

Diagnosed with a high-functioning form of Autism called Asperger's as a teen,
he has spent more than a decade overcoming the syndrome by honing
his stand-up skills on comedy stages across the country.

"McClowry is a tall, clean-cut comedian out of Detroit. His standup is smart and analytical, full of unexpected leaps of logic, and delivered in a deep, distinctive deadpan.
He's funny and engaging." - CityArts

There's no one quite like Matt McClowry. An awkward, gentle soul trapped in a hulking physique, Matt has been surprising audiences for nearly a decade, putting a sharp edge to universal topics like family, relationships, and modern life. Born and raised outside of Detroit, McClowry began his pursuit of a stand up career in 2004 by signing up for a local open-mike night, and his comedy has taken off from there. Over the past 10 years, he has built up both his confidence and writing skills and he now enjoys a reputation as one of the strongest acts in the Midwest.
Part of what gives Matt's comedy a truly unique edge is the fact that he is a high-functioning individual with Asperger's Syndrome. Matt does not fit the stereotypical picture of someone with Asperger's and fans often question him on that point. He finds himself to be much more comfortable on stage than off stage. One common symptom of Asperger's Syndrome is not recognizing humor, and despite being a professional comedian, McClowry is not immune to struggling with that. He has found ways to push past this obstacle and uses Asperger's to influence his career in a positive way.
There have been many highlights in Matt's career so far. He has performed at the Boston Comedy Festival, Gilda's LaughFest, The Laughing Skull Comedy Festival, and The Bridgetown Comedy Festival.

He was a winner at The World Series of Comedy, he has performed at the Oddball Comedy Festival, opened for Whitney Cummings and Marc Maron, and has appeared with Bill Burr at Flappers Comedy Club in Los Angeles. He has been seen on Comcast Television and been heard on Sirius XM Radio.

"With a voice for radio and movie star looks, McClowry can be intense and a bit intimidating in person. He's tall, with broad shoulders and eyes that look right through you. At one point in his life, he considered a career in professional wrestling; seriously or not, one look at him and you can see the possibility. But on stage, he becomes your smart-mouthed brother who dares you not to laugh, and you want to get to know him better - signs of a real star." - Gary Allison, Daily Tribune

Be Fearless: Joan Rivers

I enjoy life when things are happening. I don't care if it's good things or bad things. That means you're alive. Things are happening - Joan Rivers

This is and will always be my favorite Joan Rivers quote as I believe it best exemplifies who she was and really captures her spirit and zest for living.

Joan was a comedian who mattered. Not only did she pave the way for females in comedy today, she was flat out ballsy.

She wasn't afraid to call out anyone or anything, including herself.

If something can be learned from her death it is to bend it like Joan: live, love, laugh, cry and above all be fearless.

R.I.P. Dear Lady, you will be missed

Always remember: http://joanrivers.com/

Margaret Cho Remembers Robin Williams

Robin Williams

"No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world" - Robin Williams

I love this quote and it best sums up who Robin Williams was to me. I will never forget the impact of the laughter, joy and ideas he brought into my life.

Words can not begin to describe how seeing The World According to Garp influenced and changed me when I was young.

I thought it best to let his life be discussed by someone who knew him well, friend and Entertain Me favorite Ms. Margaret Cho said this to Time Magazine about the passing of our Captain:

"He was the first celebrity I ever met. My parents owned a bookstore in San Francisco in the ’70s and ’80s. My father made Robin autograph a copy of The World According to Garp for me. When I started comedy in San Francisco in the ’80s, Robin would hang around the clubs I started doing shows at and grew up next to. He would always come in, and then later, of course, we would always see him in clubs here. He was the patriarch of our little clan of comedians in San Francisco. All of us looked at him, in a way, as a father figure. That’s why this is so upsetting.
He was just very supportive. He was very shy, and possibly a little embarrassed by his fame. Inside, he really was a comic. Naturally, all comics just wanna hang around other comics, so he would come to these little clubs and open mics, and you’d get bumped, and he would go on and you’d have to follow him, which was always really terrifying because he’s so great, and people were so excited to just be in his presence. Also, we were all excited to be around him. He’s the kind of guy, I remember, he would help out comics who needed money. When I was a teenager, my first boyfriend needed money to live, and he loved this guy’s comedy, so he would give people money to survive. It’s a beautiful thing. He was a great guy."

R.I.P. Oh, Captain! My Captain!

Sh!t Faith Says...!

Faith Choyce
A long time ago in a town known as Los Angeles, CA I went to a comedy show, yeah don't get too excited it doesn't happen that often, that a friend of mine was performing in.

Well what to my wandering eyes did appear but a comedian named Faith Choyce, but damn! Where were the reindeer?!

Faith was the best thing on the bill and I have kept in contact with her ever since. She makes me laugh everyday with her Facebook and Twitter posts, so to entertain and amuse you here is some "Sh!t Faith Says" you have no Choyce!

1) There are some things you should never say out loud to another person, like "I make my own snuff films" or "I don't like chocolate".

2) Hey hipsters! Here's a free baby name for you: Chi-chi, except it's pronounced "Shy Shy". It's glittery, ambiguous, & from the streets.

3) Most male strippers are just paying their way though fireman school.

4) Bacon is like sex; it makes everything more awesome and if you don't like it, it's only because your religion makes you feel weird about it.

5) A great way to not take responsibility for your actions is to scream "I need my insulin!!!" everytime you do something crazy.

6) "Soooo, how's the comedy thing going?" -Horrible question to ask a person in stirrups. #DoctorsWithoutBordersOrBoundaries

7) If Justin Bieber had any fans with upper body strength he'd seriously be able to take over the world.

8) Whoever said "You can't have your cake and eat it too", CLEARLY doesn't understand how cake works.

9) Guys always talk about how they wish they could blow themselves but never mention whether they'd spit or swallow. #AllTalkNoWalk

10) Okay, ladies of the internet, keep pretending that "fiery and passionate" doesn't just mean you're kind of a crazy biznatch.

11) AWESOME GROUPON GUYS, HALF A LIFETIME OF THERAPY FOR ONLY 6 YEARS OF CHILDHOOD MEMORIES. #SharingIsCaring

12) If you think you're young now just remember that in a few years you'll hit on someone who thinks it's really weird you were born in the 1900s.

13) Somewhere, there is an adult working in clear heels whose parents named her Candida. On purpose.

14) When a lesbian runs into an ex and realizes she forgot her name, it's called clamnesia.

15) I had a dream that Shawn was secretly always trying to bang Topanga then my whole childhood came crashing down around me.

Ellen Degeneres Goes Lesbian For NBC

Elisha Cuthbert
Sixteen years after Ellen Degeneres came out on Ellen another network comedy with a lesbian lead is coming to primetime.

NBC has given a pilot order to a multi-camera comedy executive produced by DeGeneres.

The project, titled One Big Happy, is written/exec produced by openly gay comedy scribe Liz Feldman (2 Broke Girls).

In it, a gay (woman) and straight (man) best friends decide to have a baby together, but things get complicated when the man finds the love of their life.

Um, I was going to say "Holy Will & Grace" but this sounds a whole lot more interesting and progressive.

Elisha Cuthbert from the classic show 24 and the awful remake of House of Wax (sorry Elisha I like you but, damn, really?!) is set to star in the pilot.

Can  I get a hey now?!

Is That A Lizard In Your Pocket Or? "Gila!"

I'm a complete sucker for tongue in cheek, cheesy B movies and this one looks like a TOTAL blast!

Get your lizard on!

"Rock 'n roll is here to stay" despite the best efforts of a giant gila monster in Polyscope's sci-fi comedy movie Gila! scheduled for release on DVD this April 22nd.

Based loosely on the 1959 sci-fi classic Giant Gila Monster, the revived Gila! features a ferocious, rampaging giant gila monster, classy hot rods, vintage 50's rock 'n roll music, cute co-eds, fist fights, drag racing and an all-star cast who rally to defend their small town.

"A perfect 'date night' drive-in movie," says producer Bill Dever. "Family fun with music, action, a very scary monster and a terrific cast. Inspirational sci-fi horror."

It's not all the monster's fault since his giant size and voracious appetite come from accidental toxic chemical contact, and beneath the action, Gila! carries a few contemporary political, social and environmental messages.

Directed by Jim Wynoski, the movie follows a small-town Sheriff and a young hot-rod mechanic as they suddenly face the giant gila monster's surprise attacks - first on farm animals, hapless humans, a passing freight train and then a small Indiana town busily preparing for the big Christmas rock 'n roll dance.

"It's funny, scary, camp and relevant," says Dever, "featuring some of the best music of the 1950's and some cool cars."  The antique hot rods and classics were provided by a midwest car club.

Gila! stars veteran television actor Terrence Knox (Tour of DutySt. Elsewhere) as the Sheriff. The handsome Chase is played by Brian Gross (Red Tails) who races, then rallies with restless hot-rodder Jesse Janzen as Waco Bob and seductress Carla, played with a passionate zing by Christina DeRosa as they fight the Giant Gila Monster.

                                                                "Gila" The Trailer

The Gila Monster is no longer the federally protected and endangered southwest desert critter thoughtlessly nudged through balsa wood walls in the original movie.  Clever EFX and a dangerous man-made chemical spill morph the gila into a monster and cave crickets into chickens. Tracked down and annoyed by the Sheriff's nitro explosion that supposedly sealed the cave the monster breaks through by morning and wreaks havoc.

Town drunk and civil libertarian Compton, played brilliantly by Rich Komenich, saves the day with a bottle of whisky in one hand and the Second Amendment in the other.  His secret stash of machine guns and nitroglycerin - stockpiled to fight Russians or Martians or atomic monsters - has everyone home just in time for Christmas.

Gerald Pauwels plays the classic rich, blowhard Mayor who is forced  to face the realities of city leadership as he, the Sheriff, the hot-rodders and town drunk pull together to fight the monster. Actor Don Sullivan who plays hero Chase in the original movie returns as the Scientist.

Gila spit, as we all learned in junior high science and Sullivan reminds us, is bad, but in Gila! giant gila goo dissolves human flesh in wonderful B-movie fashion.

Way To Go, Margaret Cho!

Margaret Cho
Friend and "Entertain Me" favorite the one the only Margaret Cho landed the coolest gig ever recently!

That's right Ms. Cho has landed the role of the administrator in the untitled Tina Fey and Matt Hubbard university comedy for FOX simply known as "Cabot College" read on peeps...

Fox's untitled Tina Fey and Matt Hubbard women's university comedy has found its administrator in a familiar face.
The comedy takes place at a women's college that has just opened its doors to men for the first time. 30 Rock Emmy nominee Margaret Cho has boarded the untitled comedy known as Cabot College.
Cho will play the series regular role of Laura Thibault, the president of Cabot College who made the difficult decision to admit men into the school. She's further described as a divisive figure on campus and does her best to be welcoming of the male freshmen but is often irritated by their antics.
Production on the comedy  begins in March!
The casting marks a reunion for Cho with both Fey and Hubbard after the actress played Kim Jong-Il and his son, Kim Jong-Un. She earned a guest actress in a comedy Emmy nomination for the former role.

MARGARET CHO RETURNS TO “DROP DEAD DIVA” FOR SEASON 4 PREMIERE ON JUNE 3
MARGARET SET TO REPRISE HER ROLE AS KIM JONG IL ON “30 ROCK” MAY 17 AND 24
MARGARET’S BRAND NEW STAND UP SHOW CALLED “MOTHER” KICKS OFF THIS SUMMER
“CHO DEPENDENT” DVD AVAILABLE NOW

Los Angeles, CA - May 2012 - Margaret Cho is gearing up for one of her busiest year’s yet. On tap for 2012 is Cho’s return to Lifetime Television’s Drop Dead Diva, premiering June 3rd, a reprise of her role as Kim Jong Il on NBC’s Season Finale of 30 Rock, a hosting gig on her new show airing on the Food Network this fall, a brand new summer tour of intimate venues beginning August 11th in P-Town, Cape Cod and various other TV appearances.

Cho is back as “Teri” on the dramedy hit show Drop Dead Diva, now entering its fourth season. Drop Dead Diva is not only beloved on Lifetime, but by the many stars who have queued up to guest on the show, including Paula Abdul, Wanda Sykes, Rosie O’Donnell, Vivica Fox and Cybil Shepard. Season four’s line-up includes Brandy Norwood, Kim Kardashian, Serena Williams and John Ratzenberger among many other surprises.

In addition to Diva, Cho is set to appear on 30 Rock’s May 17 episode as well as the Season Finale, bringing back her hilarious gender-bending interpretation of North Korean leader Kim Jong Il. Cho-as-Il kidnapped Jack Donaghy’s (Alec Baldwin) new wife Avery (Elizabeth Banks), and seems to have made her his First Lady. How this will play out since the real-life dictator’s demise last December is anyone’s guess, but look for Cho to play TWO characters in the same episode.

Margaret is also confirmed to make guest appearances on CNN Showbiz Tonight, Monday, May 28, Watch What Happen’s Live with Andy Cohen on May 29, The View on June 1, Chelsea Lately on June 4 and The Talk on July 30.

Along with her acting roles, Margaret can be seen as host on the upcoming reality show Blind Dinner Party, airing this fall on the Food Network. Seven strangers, from totally different backgrounds, with very dissimilar views, come together to dine at what can best be described as the most dysfunctional family dinner you’ve ever seen.

Margaret mediates this experiment where viewers will find out if food can become a common denominator amongst very diverse people.

Not one to idle, Margaret is going to be kicking off her brand-new stand up show bringing audiences her unflinching brand of comedy called MOTHER. MOTHER offers up an untraditional look at motherhood and how we look at maternal figures and strong women in queer culture. It’s probably her edgiest show to date, filled with riotous observations on race, drugs, sexuality – gay-straight-everything in between, celebrity, culture, politics – nothing is sacred-least of all this MOTHER.

Me & Margaret Cho
MOTHER will be an intimate club & theatre tour beginning in August. First stop: The Art House in Provincetown, for a weeklong stint of up close and personal shows. The tour will continue into the fall, with all dates posted on http://www.margaretcho.com/

Reel Life: The Muppets

"It's time to play the music...It's time to light the lights...It's time to meet the Muppets on the Muppet Show tonight..."

Sound Familiar? Well if it does you are no doubt one of those people, like me, who grew up with "The Muppet Show."

Well last night, I trekked to The Grove in Los Angeles (luckily we can walk there from my friends place, the parking is more "Nightmare on Elm Street" than the smile on my face The Muppets bring) ... and got my Muppet freak on..!

I L-O-V-E-D this movie and since I am not in the habbit of giving reviews (leave that to others I say) as a fan it was great and a return to form for our band of the hand.

From the deliberately corny musical numbers, wink and nudge sense of humor, the movie is so much fun I forgot all my troubles and got happy....Hey those slick Muppets even went Meta on the audience at points in the film, a term I was just introduced to last night, it means breaking the 4th wall and addressing the audience (in my day as a drama student, we just called it breaking the 4th wall).

Most importantly "The Muppets" has heart and that is something sorely lacking in most movies today.

Also I would love to give a special shout out to Amy Adams and Jason Segel - two of the best comedic actors working, and an extra nod to Jason for the clever script and concept that brought The Muppets of my childhood back to me at a time when I needed to feel warm and felty.

So ditch that awful "Twilight" series and saunter to a theatre and see "The Muppets" - you owe it to yourself to smile!

"Why are there so many songs about rainbows..."

Video: Margaret Cho Is "Asian Adjacent"

Margaret Cho & Michael Shinafelt

Hey Peeps, check out one of my fave performers & interview subjects latest video from her CD "Cho Dependent".....

Margaret Cho is proud to release her latest video from her Grammy nominated "Cho Dependent" CD release. “Asian Adjacent,” which appears on Cho Dependent, her musical comedy album she released last year, wherein she collaborated with the musical minds of Fiona Apple, Brendan Benson Tegan and Sara and many more. For “Asian Adjacent,” she teamed up with singer-songwriter Grant Lee Phillips; and the dude also appears in the video– beautifully directed by Tani Ikeda.

Laughspin says: Margaret Cho is more than a comedian. She’s a force. She proves it time and time again. With each live performance, with each album release, television role and video, she keeps pushing the boundaries of what is considered mainstream entertainment

I agree...!
