"There's No Place Like Home..."

She's Got The Power
Drew Barrymore

As Halloween draws nigh, only 22 more days! You are going to see me getting more Haloweenie with it on here. That's correct Minions I'm gonna be letting my spirit, so to speak, loose on you.

Today here to help with the Entertain Me Countdown to Halloween is Drew Barrymore as what else? Glinda the Good Witch straight outta OZ.

Drew is perfection as Glinda right down to the personality, if you've seen her talk show you know this about her. Thus it really comes as no surprise she chose her as her Halloween alter ego.

So why don't we all click our heels together and repeat after me three times "I can't wait for Halloween..."

Do it and do it now!!!

10 More Days Till Halloween...

10 more days till Halloween, Silver Shamrock! What's that? You're telling me there are actually 26 more days until Halloween? Perhaps, but there are only 10 more days until Halloween Kills hits the big screen and I can't wait!!!

"Yes" I know the reviews are mixed, but honestly does it really matter what critics say about the second act of the current trilogy? (concluding next year with Halloween Ends)

That's correct Minions I thought NOT!

Despite the less than stellar advance reviews, there seems to be a common thread that those scribes can agree on, this installment delivers what it is supposed to: Thrills, Chills & Kills...💀

Michael Myers forever!!!

It's Halloween!

1978 & 2018
Halloween

Well Halloween is going to be a little bit different this year, OK way different this year. Except for me perhaps. Yeah, I've gone to the West Hollywood Street Carnival a few times. But mostly I stay in and watch horror movies.

Thus, that is exactly what I am doing tonight. I'm going to watch the original Halloween which is my favorite scare flick of all time and then watch the awesome 2018 follow up.

Hey, I know how to party, oh "yes" I do!!!

So what's on your Halloween agenda?

“When other little girls wanted to be ballet dancers, I kind of wanted to be a vampire.” - Angelina Jolie

Even though I wasn't a little girl, this is something Angelina Jolie and I have in common. "Yes" I too wanted to be a vampire. Thus with only 2 more days until Halloween I bequeath you with an image of myself as one, and what my current motto as my vampire self is regarding the world around me. Yeah, there's that...

Meow! It's "National Black Cat Day"

James Dean

With a scant 4 more days until Halloween, how fitting that today is National Black Cat Day...Meow!

So I let my fingers hit the keyboard and Google the WWW and what to my wandering eyes did appear but a pictorial to honor Halloween of Black Cats and their celebrity owners. One in partik stood out, well a few actually did but this one popped a little more.

Behold the beauty of James Dean and his Black Cat, oh, and there's also a table involved too, for good measure (I guess.)

For those of you reading this who don't know who James Dean is, and I am sure there are a few. First of all take the Walk of Shame and then do a Google search. You'll thank me, trust...

Seeing James and his pussy takes me back to a simpler time, also a time in Hollywood that will never come back. "Yes" Virginia all the glamour is gone, but legends live on!

Go Black Cat or go home! Have you cleaned the litter box?!

Hump Day & Chill

Season of the Witch
Jamie Lee Curtis

With only 10 more days left we have entered the final countdown until Halloween. Thus I thought we would Hump Day & Chill with the Queen of Halloween Jamie Lee Curtis, dressed as one of my favorite seasonal archetypes (other than a Vampire) a Witch!

So here's a Halloween story for you to Hump Day & Chill with. As a Kid I went out Trick or Treating as a Witch, and had mad crushes on Witches in general, pretty ones and green ones with warts.

Well my Dad took me to a Haunted House one year and there were people dressed as various spooky things entertaining people while they waited in line to enter. One woman was dressed as a, you've got it, Witch!

She was of the green with warts variety. She came up to us I told her I thought she was pretty and asked her if I could give her a kiss. She said "Yes" and thanked me after.

There you have it, now Hump Day & Chill on that for your remaining 10 day countdown!

One Of The Tethered

Sharp Objects
Tracee Ellis Ross

Being as we are down for the count with a mere 13 days until Halloween, I thought I would bequeath to you Tracee Ellis Ross as one of the Tethered from Us.

Dress as a Tethered for the High Holy Day and you too can be your own doppelganger. That's correct Minions, after all who looks more like you, than, well, you! Or perhaps a real live Tethered (that's a conversation for another time.)

I'd tread lightly though around Tracee, she took being a Tethered to a whole new dimension. She's toting a mean looking scissor in her hands and from the looks of things knows how to, and will use them.

That's so Tethered!

With a mere 15 days until Halloween I thought it was time to bring on the diva! That's correct Minions, it's that time of the year again to let Sandy with a "Y" not "E" Zacky weave her magic and put a spell on you with her rendition of "Witchcraft!"

Let Sandy with a "Y" not "E" Zacky enchant you with her soothing tones and music that are sure to lull you into a false sense of security, and make you obey anything she has to say...

What's that you ask? Is Sandy a good witch or a bad witch? Hmmmmmm...

#TBT: Me In "The Summer Of Massacre"
Michael Shinafelt

Well Hello, and welcome to the nightmare known as 2020, my name is Michael, I'll be your Master of Ceremonies right here right now...."Yes" Minions I was in a horror movie once where I played a cop who expires in a violent way, because no one thought enough to renew him. It was called The Summer of Massacre, it was real and spectacular.

Only 16 more days until Halloween, I'd say send in the clowns, but they're already here. Let's have some fun, or not...

Remember when you used copious amounts of hair gel? Remember when people knew what copious meant?

'Cause the walls were shaking, The earth was quaking, My mind was aching, and we were making it and you, Shook me all night long! Having an AC/DC moment. You're welcome.

I would be seeing Halloween Kills this weekend, but thanks to a government that laughs at a pandemic. Yeah, there's that.

Sometime you gotta ask - Scooby Dooby Doo, where are you?

Caught the horror movie The Strangers for the first time on cable the other day. Great, well made film, wrong timing for me to be finally seeing it given every thing going on in the world.

What is it going to take for you to see me as a virgin? I ask you, I am waiting

Hump Day & Chill

Luck Of The Irish
Jack Reynor

With a mere 17 days left until Halloween we are in for another Hump Day & Chill thrill. This one comes via Ari Aster's Midsommar in the form of Irish-American actor Jack Reynor.

"No" I have not seen Midsommar, have you? I heard from trusted friends that it was meh, this being said I also heard the yummy Mr. Reynor bared it all unflinchingly. Thus I was conflicted as to whether I would catch it on one of the many outlets you can view at home.

Well guess what Minions? You don't have to sit through Midsommar to see Jack in all his glory, oh no you don't. Thanks to Tye Briggs Favorite Hunks & Other Things you can see stills of him and a clip from the film where Womp! There he is!

Now's the time, I see you and I know what you want. You want to Hump Day & Chill with your bad self and Jack.

Countdown To Halloween...

Give It Up Do As I Say
Lady Gaga

This year with Halloween being tailored to COVID 19, I still think it's important to get into the spirit (of course the pun was intended.) It's my favorite time of the year. This being stated I thought I would share with you what a huge fan I am of vampires.

"Yes" I love vampires, when I was a youngster I wanted to be one when I grew up. Yeah, there's that...

Here to represent is Lady Gaga as The Countess from American Horror Story: Hotel. While AHS: Hotel had it's flaws (all seasons of that show do, some more than others.) I enjoyed it for the most part. Especially how they set it in Hollywood and fictionalized real Show Biz icons and Serial Killers, into the tapestry of the story.

Well Minions we only have 21 more days until the High Holy Day, and if you want next year to be more celebratory, get out and VOTE!

Only 27 More Days...

Jump My Bones
Gus Kenworthy

With all the chaos in the world let's not lose sight of what's important this month, Halloween! "Yes" Minions it's that time of year again, for tricks & treats. Honestly I don't know the difference between a trick and a treat, both are equally fun 😉

Today's Halloween poster guy is Gus Kenworthy seen here as a sexy skeleton of some sort at American Horror Story's 100 episode celebration. You may remember Gus was in AHS: 1984, the season of episode 100.

Honestly I chose Gus because he is showing some chest and he has hair on it, yep I like a man with a hairy chest.

Sunday Funday!

Sssmokin'!
Gigi Hadid
While I know Halloween is over, I am in mourning for it at present. "Yes" I am missing the spirit of the season, not to mention the horror movie marathons that were happening on a constant basis.

So with one last gasp I wanted to trot out one of my favorite celebrity costumes this year. Behold Gig Hadid in a flawlessly executed "The Mask" costume. You remember "The Mask" don't you?

In case you don't it was a  1994 action comedy film, based on a series of comic books published by Dark Horse Comics. Starring Jim Carrey and a then unknown Cameron Diaz.

They played it once when I was on Jury Duty for us while we were waiting in the holding area. Not a bad movie, not a great one, but it was better than actually having to serve on a Jury.

Kudos to Ms. Hadid! She's putting some of the Funday into Sunday, indeed...

Michael's Musings

Someone's Knocking At The Door
Michael Shinafelt
Happy Halloween Minions! Today's secret word is "Redrum" - I'm sure you never would have thunk that based on the image I used for the High Holy Day...NOT!

So what are you doing for Halloween? Are you a treat or a trick? Actually the way I phrased it the two are pretty much simpatico. I'd say it's time to get down and dirty, but I believe I've covered that...

Is there anything you wouldn't do for a Klondike Bar? If so, name it after me

The worms crawl in, the worms crawl out. Get a MotherF#cking shot for that!

Ever think to yourself, what does Jason Vorhees do for Mother's Day?

MAGA - Halloween 365 days a year!

"This isn't a dream! This is really happening!" - Mia Farrow, Rosemary's Baby. Sad but true, that film obviously saw the coming of the son of Satan, Donald Trump.

Get Your Freak On With Author M.E. Franco

Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid
M.E. Franco
Here it is, whether you like it, or not. It's my blog and I like it, so there! It's my annual Halloween chat with author and fellow horror fan M.E. Franco. Who penned the popular supernatural Dion trilogy. Grab a butcher knife, it's going to be a bloody ride!!!

MS: Hello Ms. Franco we convene again. What would you give me as a gift of worship on my altar?

ME: Vampire Gerard Butler. You're welcome 😉

Suck Me!
Gerard Butler
MS: Who carries the corpses in your house?

ME: What corpses? looks around nervously

MS: Name the most decadent trick you have ever played on an unwitting individual for Halloween?

ME: I hate when teenagers go around trick or treating with no costume at all. I don't mind older kids going out, but at least make an attempt to dress up as something besides "irritating teenager trying to get free candy." So, now I buy a bag of Dum Dum suckers that I hand out to them. I still give the good candy to anyone in a costume.

MS: You wrote a quite popular supernatural trilogy, the Dion series. Any chance we are going to get another one?

ME: Thank you! I have done a little work on a fourth book, but I don't know what the future holds for that one.

MS: Why are there so many songs about rainbows, but none about the transgender witch community?

ME: It would have to be an amazing song. No one wants to piss off a witch.

MS: Are you donning a costume this year? If so spill, what is it?

ME: I'm going to be Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas. I love that movie!

Heeeere's Sally!!!
MS: Is there a favorite Halloween jingle you like?

ME: This is Halloween from Nightmare Before Christmas.

MS: Did you see The Banana Splits movie that aired on the SyFy Network? They made it into a horror affair.

ME: I had heard about it, but I haven't seen it yet. Just checked out the trailer. I love the Banana Splits, so I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about the show being made into a horror movie, but it looks like it might be actually be fun.

MS: If you saw Michael Myers and Jamie Lee Curtis hitchhiking on the same deserted road, who would you pick up?

ME: Jamie Lee. Love how her character has developed in the movies! I share her paranoia. Well, paranoia is an irrational fear, so maybe she's just prepared. Yeah...that's it...prepared.

MS: OK, how excited are you for next Halloween when "Halloween Kills" hits theaters?

ME: I can't wait!! I thought they were going to end it with the last one, so I was stoked to find out it's going to be a trilogy!

MS: Say you are a horror movie villain, what is your weapon of choice?

ME: Classic butcher knife. Very scary!

MS: What do you wish for people this Season of the Witch?

ME: May all your nightmares come true cue evil laugh

Monday Motivation

With merely three days to Halloween today's Monday Motivation is the adage "Follow Your Heart."

In keeping with the Season of the Witch I have provided a macabre to some, delightful to others illustration of this.

"Follow Your Heart" is a personal thing that I can not, therefore will not define for you. Let's just say it is for certain not the "Tell-Tale Heart" now that's something really scary! The other can be too just not in a supernatural sort of way.

Thus today I am going to go where my heart leads me. Except I will not have mine outside my body on a leash.

Yeah, if I did that I would be dead, and unable to get my bliss on. Only if I was a Zombie that could work, and then I'd most likely gnaw on it or something to that grotesque effect.

It's time, you have your Monday Motivation mission, get to it minions!

Repulsion

Born To Hand Jive
Catherine Deneuve
Repulsion
While on Facebook yesterday an app came through to plug in your birth year to find out what was the big horror movie at that time. So for the thrill and chill of it, I did just that. Well guess what came up from the great beyond? Roman Polanski's Repulsion starring Catherine Deneuve, oh alright, the year was 1965.

Here is the synopsis:

"A sex-repulsed woman who disapproves of her sister's boyfriend sinks into depression and has horrific visions of rape and violence."

While I did not see it the year it was out, duh, I did happen to view it in my twenties, not knowing it was the big fright fest of the year of my birth. I knew that being born a snake was cool, now it has been solidified.

It is time for another viewing of this classic, with me being older and wiser. While I liked it when I first saw it, I believe this is a film, like so many, that gets better with life experience.

Besides who can resist the eternal beauty of Deneuve and the Directing mastery of Polanski?

Yeah, I thought not...only four more days until Halloween!
